Handhold DH heading to ICU covid

DH went to hospital yesterday for breathing issues. We’ve been unwell for a few days and we’re already awaiting covid tests.

Just been told he’s taken a turn and is heading to ICU. He is ECV and we’ve been so careful, we’ve not been out except to the supermarket, and we’ve avoided seeing anyone.

I’m just so worried and I know the next few days will be critical

Handhold from me too @Wardrobes123 FlowersFlowers. As others have said treatment is much more efficient now.

Wardrobes123 · 02/01/2021 12:39

Thanks to everyone who has taken time to give us good wishes, hugs and prayers. I’ll take everything I can get.

He’s still deteriorating. He hits day 7 tomorrow which is the worst day I believe so I’m just hoping that by treatment starting before then it won’t get as bad.

For the PP who asked - he’s got kidney failure. He has a transplanted kidney that has 10% function so it’s likely that won’t survive this. I just hope he gets through it from a chest POV.

Plus he’d be one of those sats of people with underlying health issues like he doesn’t matter or something

So sorry to hear but he is in the very best place. When my dad was in ICU recently (not covid) I was so impressed by the dedication of the staff. Holding your hand right here. Hopefully in 24h he will turn a corner.

I’m very sorry to hear this. Talk to us anytime. Like others have said, he’s in the best hands now. Thinking of you and your children.

Lovelydovey · 02/01/2021 13:06

Hand holding here too - let us know how he is getting on.

My dad is CEV and was admitted yesterday for Covid treatment (we think he picked it up a hospital appointment in the run up to Christmas as has been super careful). He is responding to oxygen therapy and proning and we are hopeful that he will recover. Fingers crossed for your husband too - it really is the best place for him however scary it might be.

Wardrobes123 · 02/01/2021 13:14

@Lovelydovey I’m thinking of you and your dad and I’m so sorry he’s going through this too.

I’m pleased that he’s responding to oxygen treatment that is a great sign. Please let me know how he gets on x

Handhold from me

Sakura7 · 02/01/2021 13:15

Hand hold here too OP, I'm sorry you're going through this. As PPs have said, he's in the best possible place right now. I know it's hard not to panic and jump to the worst case scenario but just take a deep breath and take each day hour by hour. He has every chance of beating this. I hope you get some positive updates soon Flowers

pringlebells · 02/01/2021 13:17

Oh god OP I don't know what to say, sending you a virtual hug and will keep you in my thoughts.

Tehmina23 · 02/01/2021 13:17

Thinking of you & your DH, hoping for a good recovery @Wardrobes123

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 02/01/2021 13:17

Another 🤚🏾 & lots of hugs. It's SO hard when you can't be with them.

It's even tougher when you yourself are unwell too & can't have family/friends around to talk to/hug.

But the treatment IS so much better now & he has age on his side.

As someone else said, being careful all this time has put him in a better position as far as treatment is concerned so please don't think it was a waste if time!!

THIS is exactly why schools need to be closed!!

Look after yourself, you need lots of rest!!

Tier4billion · 02/01/2021 13:18

He’s in the best place - so do try to stay positive. Flowers

Honeywort · 02/01/2021 13:19

Flowers for you and very best wishes to your dh. He absolutely does matter.

Wardrobes123 · 02/01/2021 13:20

Not to scare anyone - we have an idea where it was from. Our youngest was ill- just lethargic with headaches at the end of term (19th).

I haven’t discussed it openly but she’s quite aware that it may have been passed that way. She feels awful and has already got upset. It’s not her fault at all - she’s only just started high school and I know she was trying her best.

I don't know if you've seen this, but it's worth looking at if you haven't (fir you, not DH, well maybe for when he comes home

@MrsM36 I’m sorry you’ve been through this too and that your husband was so unwell. I’m so happy to hear he’s recovering and is back home with you and your 3 girls Flowers

I’m so sorry this is happening to your family. I hope your DH responds to treatment and your daughter is reassured that she is not responsible.

ChanklyBore · 02/01/2021 13:25

I’m sorry to read this. Your poor youngest, it’s 100% not her fault. Viruses gonna virus. She did nothing wrong.

Crossing my fingers for your DH.

BrutusMcDogface · 02/01/2021 13:26

Oh, your poor daughter! I hope she begins to understand that it isn’t her fault.

Sending love and strength to you and your husband, @Wardrobes123 - hope he’s home with you very soon Flowers

ChablisandCrisps · 02/01/2021 13:27

Sending positive thoughts your way OP Flowers

Wardrobes123 · 02/01/2021 13:27

@WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants thank you for the video. We did try some of those breathing exercises before he went in! That doctor was so kind to make the video. And thank you for linking it.

Omeara · 02/01/2021 13:31

Hope he turns a corner and starts to feel better soon.

Marmunia1975 · 02/01/2021 13:32

Love and prayers....xx

Wardrobes123 · 02/01/2021 13:34

To the PP who said viruses gonna virus - ain’t that the truth! I’ve reassured her that it’s not her fault and it could still have come from the supermarket or anywhere.

DH currently on Cpap and starting kidney support this afternoon. I’m just praying he doesn’t need ventilation as I know that it doesn’t bode well for covid patients.
