Handhold DH heading to ICU covid

DH went to hospital yesterday for breathing issues. We’ve been unwell for a few days and we’re already awaiting covid tests.

Just been told he’s taken a turn and is heading to ICU. He is ECV and we’ve been so careful, we’ve not been out except to the supermarket, and we’ve avoided seeing anyone.

I’m just so worried and I know the next few days will be critical

Your anxiety is completely understandable, you're handling this as well as you can be and it's great you're able to ask for help. Sending love Flowers

Only just seen your thread for the first time @Wardrobes123. I hope you are eating and resting enough and that your dc are settled. Of course I also hope your DH has started to improve.

Wardrobes123 · 04/01/2021 19:34

We are eating - I made a beef stew today. Wanting to get veg into the kids.

To the poster that asked - yes DH was diagnosed with covid results confirmed over the weekend. Test took 4 days. We don’t know where it came from, as DH has been working from home and 90% of our shopping has been delivered - except for the week before Christmas when all the deliveries were full. Kids have been at school too. I’m just shocked and angry. We always wear masks and have hand gel everywhere. But I can’t beat myself up about it. We haven’t seen friends/family,not gone for coffee, or unnecessarily shopped.

No word from the hospital. I try not to ring them so much as I know they’re so busy.

I'm pleased you and the kids are eating.
Hopefully you'll get some kind of update from the hospital tonight. I'd say no news is good news. If he is stable they probably wouldn't be proactive about calling you.

LizzieVereker · 04/01/2021 20:52

Just popped on to say I’ve been thinking of you and your family OP, and sending you all good wishes xx

I got about four hours sleep but do feel like I’ve turned a corner health wise today. I was a bit worried yesterday but did lots of breathing exercises from the wonderful poster who tagged the video earlier on in the thread. Seems to have helped.

There’s absolutely no change in DH. Still very high oxygen through the CPAP, but stable on it. I’m taking that as a positive sign. Still having clotting issues with filtration too, but they are still managing to do it.

So no real big hurrah of an update. Work has kicked right back up again too (we run our own very small business). I’m fielding stuff but it’s exhausting.

I’m trying to be positive that no change is good. He’s stable with support and I just think it will be a long road. ICU aren’t looking at changing or moving anything with him. They’ve still got concerns because the virus is unstable and can’t guarantee that he will be ok/stay stable but I’m taking the small wins where I can.

Stable and no worse is a positive at the moment. Glad to hear that you managed to get a bit of sleep.

SunshineCake · 05/01/2021 13:22

You are being very sensible. I hope there is a more definite improvement very soon.
