What?! Why hasn't this been reported?

Another u turn. If only they listened to teachers, unions, local authorities in the first place.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 01/01/2021 18:18

...bit I'm in a tier 4 area with a high infection rate and must return on Monday, nice.

MegtheShark · 01/01/2021 18:18

I usually hate the ‘us vs them’ rhetoric around London and the UK but...

Why are the rest of us in tier 4 areas being left to fend for ourselves?

MarshaBradyo · 01/01/2021 18:19

I thought we’d sneak through as open borough but I don’t care about supposed u turns. It changes daily.

This.
CelieandNettie · 01/01/2021 18:23

Now just waiting to see if Kent County Council do the same. I'm due to go back Monday in a local primary school

RedskyAtnight · 01/01/2021 18:23

Are there other area with high infection rates (noting that not all Tier 4 areas have high levels; they've put in Tier 4 for geography as much as anything)? If so, hopefully local councils will be emboldened by the London examples to also refuse to open.

Schools are open to keyworker children and vulnerable children. That means all support staff are in school, as well as a few teachers & SLT. It's just class teachers and office staff who will be working remotely.
Zlistceleb · 01/01/2021 18:26

It's not all schools, it's all primary schools. Maybe ask HQ to amend.

EmmanuelleMakro · 01/01/2021 18:29

London rather than all Tier because in London lots of people live in one borough but send DC to schools in different ones, do nonsensical to have some open a d don’t shut.

milliememum · 01/01/2021 18:29

Wonder when we will get confirmation of this?

DelphiniumBlue · 01/01/2021 18:30

I'd still like to know what the justification was for leaving Haringey and the 9 other boroughs off the list in the first place. The omission of Redbridge was apparently a mistake, but what about the rest?
I'm so sick of these last minute decisions, it's all been predictable, same with Brexit deal. It's crisis management at it's worst. This government is a laughing stock, except we're not laughing because the consequences of their ill-preparedness and lack of thought out policy are so serious.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 01/01/2021 18:32

It's just class teachers and office staff who will be working remotely.

Let me correct that ... it’s just SOME class teachers and office staff who will be working remotely.

I am office staff and will be working in school as normal to support my reacher colleagues who will be in working with quite a few of our children who are vulnerable or have keyworker parents.

Saylethewayles · 01/01/2021 18:33

It'll be everyone in T4 soon, and then the whole country.

StealthPolarBear · 01/01/2021 18:33

How long before the rest of the country follows suit?

DelphiniumBlue · 01/01/2021 18:34

Sorry, you are quite right, I should have clarified that in my post.

Saylethewayles · 01/01/2021 18:34

I think by the end of next week at the latest Stealth.

StealthPolarBear · 01/01/2021 18:34

Z list, are secondaries open in London?

Wannabangbang · 01/01/2021 18:35

I'm in Thanet hoping they'll change things before monday. I have 2 primary school children that have to attend. I don't think it's safe

StealthPolarBear · 01/01/2021 18:36

Why is the bbc not reporting this? No mention of it on Twitter?

Wannabangbang · 01/01/2021 18:36

Fed up with London always getting their own way. Should have never been in Tier 2 now their kids get to stay safe but mine don't. Government only cares about its own place of residence

SnoozyBoozy · 01/01/2021 18:38

@Zlistceleb

I think the secondaries were already due to be closed though, so I guess technically all schools are closed now.
