I don't think the government particularly cares who does or doesn't get it, more that London hospitals are overwhelmed and full right now.

Yeah, I get that.....but surely the govt will learn from that and be proactive not reactive. Are they really going to wait until hospitals in other areas are overwhelmed before closing the schools? Becky by then it’s too late. My local hospitals is bad, not as bad as Londonderry but still bad. The time to close schools here is now.

@JacobReesMogadishu being proactive and timely in their response and learning lessons from mistakes has not happened so far.

@sassbott

I also have barristers. Dentists. Opticians. Tree surgeons. Geologist. Music therapist. (And believe it or not). One of the scientists who worked on the vaccine that helped eradicate a unique strain of meningitis in Africa. She was in the room next to mine at uni. They are all in my phone. When the MMR vaccine furore kicked off - she was who I messaged to cut through the rubbish being touted (tons of it on here).

Do you not think that people who work in these sorts of professionals have friends from uni? Or are they magical unicorns that appear at the end of a rainbow? And disappear just as fast?

Why didn't you just read the MMR article, rather than bothering somebody who is apparently in the running for a Nobel prize? That's like me wanting to call Keir Starmer for advice because I'd got a parking ticket.

This government has never been proactive about anything pandemic related. They saw what was initially happening in mainland Europe earlier this year but didn’t close our borders and look where we are now. Throughout this whole situation they haven’t learned from anything, so unfortunately I don’t think they are going to suddenly start doing so now. So I wouldn’t hold your breath about them doing anything sensible in relation to hospitals/schools elsewhere in the country☹️

@sassbott Yeah, people have friends from university. Your writing, grammar and hyperbole are not such that I am convinced these are your actual university friends. And the quite incredible assertion that no parents you know are concerned about sending their kids back does not encourage faith.

Babito · 02/01/2021 15:01
@Babito in principle its an ok idea but what about teachers of 30 all turn up your making that risk assessment for them as well
Or what if 15 turn up 15 stay home how does teacher keep them all on trAck
It would be fine if people accepted staying home means you are responsible for your childs education in that time and getting them up to speed when they can go back
I'm not convinced thats entirely true. Why should people have to risk their children and their family members health because their children aren't able to go to school. There is many children on CEV list they can't attend school it is just not safe for them unfortunately given the fact that people can risk assess for themselves and for the majority the risk of low so they are therefore doing a lot more mixing which in itself is fine in my view people can assess their own risk, but then that risk they have taken transfers to a vunerable child who's family just can't be taking that risk ....but why is it fair that these children should miss out on education because of this ...its not..they are equally as entitled to an education as any other 'healthy' child and why should teachers who may also be at risk themselves have to risk their lives or that of their own family just so everyone elses kids are hunky dory in a way ?
I see where you are coming from completely ...i'm not trying to be nasty about but i'm just throwing out there how you are taking away some peoples rights to be safe and healthy in order to protect others rights to an education

leoh06 · 02/01/2021 17:49

100 percent agree with that im in swale which was the highest at one point and nothing at all for us all focused on london

Iseestupidpeople · 02/01/2021 18:00

What about the rest of England tho?!
So those children and teachers have less rights than those in London?! I see lawsuits against the government maybe a class action suit from parents and teachers.
