In A&E with a numb face...keep me company please?!

I've NC'd for this.

Yesterday afternoon my face suddenly went numb on the right side. No other symptoms but my face has drooped and 24 hours on is still numb.

Anyone ever had this? What was the outcome? I tried hard not to google it but it's very worrying.

111 sent me to A&E and I've had bloods taken. It looks to be a long wait!

It's busy, people are queuing on ambulance stretchers to get in. Standing room only (because half the chairs are taped off for social distancing).

So far, there has been one person in for toothache, one because he's punched a wall on Christmas Day, another with a sore toe....Confused

I've had the CT scan now, as you all said it was quick and easy.

@Meepmeeep yes, my face does move, it's not completely paralysed or anything. It's numb and droopy.

It was 111 that sent me to A&E but I'd have contacted the GP in normal times but they are closed for Christmas

Are you still having to stand? If so, I think you should ask a member of staff to ask the non-ill people to vacate their seats and let others sit down. I just can't imagine taking up a seat and letting poorly people stand.
I have loads of 'what do you call a man ' jokes....

What do you call a man with a spade on his head?.....

Doug! 😁

What do you call a man without a spade on his head?

Douglas! 😁

No, I've got a seat now in the main part of a&e. The initial waiting area was where the seat issue was. And I imagine still is...

How’s your mouth though? That is my first warning sign everytime I’ve had it. As I said, every case will present differently.

Some jokes for you:

What did the cheese say when it looked in the mirror?
"Halloumi!"

Hope you get out of there soon OP!

Orchidflower1 · 27/12/2020 18:18

Glad you’ve got a seat op. Is there a vending machine so you could get a drink- maybe with a straw?

Salapandas · 27/12/2020 18:19

OP - what's the first thing you want to do in 2021?

Do you have a to do list planned yet?

I am going to break out of government grounding (CEV) and have sneakily booked a GP appointment (needed) at a time when I know that I can take my daily exercise and see some Christmas lights.

GP receptionists are definitely on to me as I usually ask for the totally opposite time of the day!

Donutella isn't even a real chocolate.

Salapandas · 27/12/2020 18:30

OP don't eat or drink without asking someone if it is OK to. I know we've all been armchair medics but really we don't have the foggiest clue what your diagnosis will be.

IrishCream123 · 27/12/2020 18:33

Op, can you ask the Dr/nurse for some food and drink?

Orchidflower1 · 27/12/2020 18:33

Op- update on my tea situation.... Dear lord DH choosing baked bean and sprouts was not a good idea. I didn’t think things may happen so quickly! We’re putting flat pack drawers up but I’ve escaped to put the kettle on. 💨🌬
Storm Bella has nothing on Mr Orchid 🤢.

Orchidflower1 · 27/12/2020 18:35

@IrishCream123

Op, can you ask the Dr/nurse for some food and drink?
Actually that’s a good plan. If you can have something they may get you tea and sandwich.

Just don’t eat bean and sprouts- well you wouldn’t because most people do not deem baked beans a good thing for a faux roast 😧

Salapandas · 27/12/2020 18:36

@Orchidflower1 do you have any matches? They are good at dispelling gaseous odours... Light one and put it out, but not too close to arse!

Hairyfairy01 · 27/12/2020 18:39

You may need a swallow assessment before you eat or drink anything.

Thanks. I’ve put a candle on.

Honestly we had an “ eating up” tea today but i didn’t mean for dh to eat a little bit of everything that was open in the fridge. I think it may have been the piccalilli on his cold turkey that exacerbated the wind 😬

A riddle for op so she doesn’t think I’m completely odd!

What has....
roads but no cars
a church but no choir
schools but no pupils
a lake but no boats

A MAP 😀

Hope you’re doing ok op.

tobee · 27/12/2020 18:55

Oh I thought the answer to that riddle was lockdown 1.

Justiceisblind · 27/12/2020 18:55

Am I the only one who does get all the jokes?
😳

Ginkpin · 27/12/2020 18:57

Best of luck OP. My first thought was Bell's but hopefully you'll have a proper answer soon.

'Medical' themed joke from a cracker yesterday:

Why did the cell cross the microscope?

To get to the other slide.

It's pretty poor, sorry.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 27/12/2020 18:58

Did you hear the inventor of autocorrect died? I didn't even know he was I'll.

😀😀

Hope things get sorted quickly, op.

waitrosetrollydolly · 27/12/2020 19:05

Hope you are getting examined and that's why you have gone quiet. Fingers crossed for you for a swift diagnosis and recovery.
