Keyboard is clear :)

IT are phoning me shortly, they texted and asked if that was ok, I said yessss! I'm usually very IT literate, got no idea why I've got so confused. I was like a chimpanzee at a keyboard.

I don’t think the UK has ordered any of the Moderna vaccine to arrive until later in the year. We ordered shitloads shedloads of the Oxford one, and a few from Phizer.

I am in another meeting. We are discussing something that we’ve discussed at every meeting probably since the beginning of time. I might stick a biro in my eye.

sheslittlebutfierce · 08/01/2021 14:41

Yesterday my new shark arrived! I am not generally a housework/vacuuming fan but I loved my miele which may have blown up because it was used on wet carpet
BUT Shark seemed to have an offer and I may be a convert

EggyPegg · 08/01/2021 14:55

I am putting away Mount Laundry. It always builds up when I have an assignment to do. I am watching Friends as I do it.

Today we had a 10 minute conversation about pans in the staff room.

Squirrel26 · 08/01/2021 14:56

Why are you keeping pans in the staff room? Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/01/2021 15:43

DHL has tried to deliver a parcel - we were at home, we were waiting, we buzzed them in, we went down - nothing. Today a card - we were not there and they have delivered to a DHL shop. Mmh!
Did they deliver to the nearest i. e opposite? No, they didn't - I have to walk 30 min one way to get there.
So I will now venture out into the cold darkness to get that parcel..

MissConductUS · 08/01/2021 15:51

Welcome @sheslittlebutfierce, and thanks for you slightly exciting vacuuming news. I mourn for your Miele (I have two and love them) but glad you now have a replacement. Vacuuming Hoovering is a bit of a hobby for DD and me.

DS is hopefully leaving soon for his haircut. He then has to go somewhere to provide a form verifying his citizenship status for his internship, which starts on Monday. I'll probably run out and get lunch for myself and the DC at our favorite deli to celebrate his pending employment.

Normalcy is returned with home learning. Had to get page of chemical equations printed out, DH handed it to DS who started screaming.

Having hot chocolates to calm everyone down.

Sale is still stuck on do we access property through the 6 foot high solid wall, no we don't we use the front door or side door but buyers solictor doesn't believe us. If they really want to jump over a 6 foot wall to get in feel free though suspect someone will call police.

Spudlet · 08/01/2021 16:23

Just had a Zoom physio appointment - all very satisfactory, although DS did get in on the act to give the physio a blow-by-blow account of his TV programme 🙈 I am going to get a programme of exercises to do, but I’m allowed to carry on running - hooray! I would go properly bonkers without my little adventures to escape.

Today’s adventure was brought to you by the word ‘squelch’ - there used to be a bridge there but it must have been washed away by the big flood just before Christmas Shock I went a different way, I did consider just jumping in, but thought better of it...!

I’m so happy I can still run though!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/01/2021 16:43

"squelch" - the German translation needs several words and is quite unsatisfactory, I will adopt "squelch" as it is a very useful word to have.

The DHL station is closed, try again tomorrow at ten.

HelenaJustina · 08/01/2021 18:11

I’m not sure where the post I started typing at some ungodly hour of this morning disappeared to. It’s the end of one of the longest weeks ever at work, I’ve done 6.5 days in 5. Gin tonight (too exciting?!)

Imissmoominmama · 08/01/2021 18:13

We were trying to think of a word for the sound your foot makes on snow, today. We thought of crudding- but thought it sounded rude.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/01/2021 18:46

Imiss There isn't one in German either, I don't think I can adopt crudding, that sounds to sharp.

Silkiechickscat · 08/01/2021 18:53

We use crunching for the sound of feet on snow. Though would say our cat prances through the snow as each paw is then shaken.

Champagneforeveryone · 08/01/2021 19:15

DDog1 is back at the vets and we are anxiously awaiting the results of his blood test. The lovely vet is quite new and refuses to be straight and honest with me, insisting instead on lots of niceties and "possibly's".

It looks like at the very least he will be staying in for 24 hours

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/01/2021 19:26

We need - I think - a combination of squelch and crunch

Silkiechickscat · 08/01/2021 19:27

scrunch?

EggyPegg · 08/01/2021 19:30

Crunching was my first thought too about the sound of feet and snow.

@Squirrel26. Pedant.

@Champagneforeveryone, I'm sorry to hear that your old boy is still poorly. The vet sounds nice. Would you prefer straight talking?

@Prokupatuscrakedatus, glad to hear that you've acquired a useful new word. I rather liked your 'watt mutt, datt mutt'. In English, the exact pronunciation of that could become a slang for asking which dog. This will be useful in helping me to recall it.

My Amazon delivery arrived as I was typing this. I have bought a set of beeswax food wraps

EggyPegg · 08/01/2021 19:32

@Silkiechickscat

scrunch?
That's what you do to your hair in the eighties when you want curls.
Spudlet · 08/01/2021 19:35

I think snow makes more of a ‘grunsh grunsh’ noise than a crunch crunch. Not that that’s a word in any language I know.

Fingers crossed for ddog @Champagneforeveryone. Hope he’s home safe with you soon.

Silkiechickscat · 08/01/2021 19:36

Yes there's scrunchy (hair) and scrunch:

Champagneforeveryone · 08/01/2021 19:48

Thank you all Flowers

Yes eggy straight talking for me please. I like to know where we are and what we're looking at. I'm not overly sentimental and become annoyed by the pussyfooting around. For example the lovely young vet this evening asked rather solicitously what our opinions on operating on a tumour would be Hmm I'm well aware this phrase wouldn't come up if there was not a chance that was the case, so why not say so Hmm

Champagneforeveryone · 08/01/2021 19:49

Oh and FWIW, I believe that one does "scrunch" through the snow Smile

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/01/2021 20:00

eggypegg Grin mutt would be Töle (if you like the dog somewhat) or Köter (if you definitely don't)

scrunch is really a word - great.

DH once had a Japanese intern working on a translation of a short story - they had a great time finding the exact right words.

EggyPegg · 08/01/2021 20:09

Yep, scrunch is a word. It also accurately describes what you might do to a piece of paper before you throw it away.

I've not met many dogs I don't like. So Tõle all the way for me.

EggyCat1 continues to sleep on the footstool. Her head is slowing hanging off. I've seen gravity take over before and have watched her slide headfirst off.
