I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

My lovely (adult) DD has just called round and left me a little bunch of daffodils on the step. She said that spring will soon be here!

Kumquatsquash · 07/01/2021 17:21

@MissConductUS Thank you for having me Smile

I sell fibre wall hangings. Macrame, weaving, macraweave, etc. I love making them but staging, photographing and then listing them all individually is soul destroying. I need a PA.

Champagneforeveryone · 07/01/2021 17:22

I have done a shed load (Wink) of ironing today and picked DDog1's medication up. He's under strict instructions not to die yet as it was very expensive and the vets will not take it back, even if it's unopened.

Back to work tomorrow morning when it's forecast to be a balmy 1 degree at 6am.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/01/2021 17:51

I have been to collect a book frm DS's school so he can go on to (ignore) work.
As his name starts with a late letter he has another week of learning from home.

They have forcast rain, but not delivered.

TrickyD · 07/01/2021 18:12

I tried out the silver cleaning gloves I got from Amazon (cheaper than Lakeland) . They are impregnated with polish and do a good job without messy pastes or creams.

EggyPegg · 07/01/2021 18:27

Then, sometime in my 40s, I saw a news report of a lorry that had shed its load on a motorway and that's when it suddenly clicked that that's the quantity that people mean by 'shedload'

Oh! I'm 38 and I thought it was just a non-sweary version of 'shitload'.

@QuestionableMouse
Essay is simply titled 'Mathematics and numeracy'. I had to do four observations and then link key mathematical concepts to it, as well as other learning theories (part 1). Plus 1000 words on mathematical concepts I've developed my own understanding of (part 2).

I am 3755 words in. 550 words to go in part two and I'm done.

What's yours on? I'm not enjoying this one either. The next one will be on Literacy, which is much more my thing.
What are you studying? I'm doing Primary Education Studies through the OU.

@Spudlet, that picture is bloody adorable. Dot to dot is brilliant for pencil control. Another thing you can do for fine motor skills is cutting out. I signed up to Twinkl during lockdown 1 and one of the things I printed off was a design your own pizza sheet. It was with DS1 in mind as his gross motor is incredible, but he struggles with fine motor. He needed to cut out his own toppings and stick them to the pizza.

I now want to do a massive dot to dot. I loved them as a child.

Frownette · 07/01/2021 18:33

@QuestionableMouse cat looks extremely comfortable.

Not much going on here, I need to do housework but am watching desperate housewives for the first time. It's the first series, I didn't realise the Eva Longoria character was such a piece of work?!

The Oxford Dictionary thinks you're right.

Welcome, @goose1964 and thanks for sharing your drapery news. You certainly got your money's worth out of the old ones. Where did you buy the new ones?

Welcome @TheresOnlyOneWayOfLife and thanks for sharing your dairy food related news. That sounds like a lot of cheeseballs. I adore cheese but usually in something, like mac & cheese or on homemade pizza.

@Kumquatsquash I feel for you. Most non-creative work is soul destroying and we could all use a PA. There are times when I think a sister wife would be nice to do errands, feed the cats and wait for the plumber. Then I come to my senses about it. I can get my DH to do those things if he thinks it's his idea. Grin

We both were 😁

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/01/2021 18:56

@MissConductUS
As a completly non-creative person (out of a line of amateur musicians, writers, actors, painters, singers) I hope you are not right about the soul.

DH's reaction to admin duties - before he moved his papers to my second best clothes airer - I won't bequease it to him:

@Sunbird24

Aw, I wish I had a DCat...
Yeah me too!
soddingkitten · 07/01/2021 19:24

This is my current view (pic) - not my lap but DS1’s.

I couldn’t stop yawning today. Roll on the weekend.

Silkiechickscat · 07/01/2021 19:41

Glad you had a much better day Spudlet - your DS looks so little, that looks far too young for Teams to me.

Lovely cat pics - DH just had another nap so had another hour of angry Silkiecat but now she's back to happy, content Silkiecat She is getting increasingly possessive of DH and starts howling anytime he talks to anyone but her or isn't by her side.

DS was looking very tired and under the weather today, heard him coughing once though he always insists there is never anything wrong with him. He's also apparently immune to covid. He's not left the house since 18 December and before was often standing in rain for an hour at school so think it won't be covid but will keep an eye on him. It may just have been food as he was eating at the time though if I ask him he'll say he never coughed and he's fine and he's not tired, all whilst rubbing eyes.

We are all having fish and chips tonight - well all apart from vegan DD who will have Chinese.

DD is going to volunteer with brownies for DoE.

Silkiechickscat · 07/01/2021 20:07

DD has just woken up and is really happy to discover a Chinese waiting for her.

Squirrel26 · 07/01/2021 20:10

I ever thought about the origins of 'shedload' before. I suppose I just imagined 'a lot of stuff'.

I sometimes fantasise about having a nanny/ housekeeper who would say things like 'no you can't have pizza for dinner twice a week' 'you should go to bed now' and 'don't worry, I'll fold the washing.' (There are no children here. This is just for me.)

MissConductUS · 07/01/2021 20:28

That would go down poorly for us. Mondays and Fridays are pizza nights chez Conduct.

Hoping he's OK, but if you do get left with it a rescue might be grateful. When our cat died, I gave half a bottle of thyroid medicine to a local cat shelter.

The assignment has gone. I slid into the living room like Joey and Chandler enter the apartment on the dog in that episode of Friends to declare that it has gone. Only two weeks today until my next one is due (not quite such a beast). For tonight it can bugger off.

I've not managed to get out for my run. I am going to do some yoga instead. I think that still classes as active.

We have had another quote for the loft. It is £15k cheaper than the last quote and in the region we were expecting. So now we're conflicted.

kittlesticks · 07/01/2021 21:31

Sorry all, losing touch a bit especially with work and kids. Sigh.
Put out some new fat balls for the birds and straight away they have found them and nearly finished them in about two days. Pleased with that.
Hope everyone is well. @MissConductUS your pizza regime sounds like one I can support! We have a fantastic nearby pizza place that is now delivering in lockdown.
Really lovely proper Italian thin base, getting hungry just thinking about it!

kittlesticks · 07/01/2021 21:33

@soddingkitten lovely DCat. So gorgeous!

soddingkitten · 07/01/2021 21:39

Thanks kittlesticks. He’s very soft, temperamentally and texture-wise.

HelenaJustina · 07/01/2021 22:05

Well done @Spudlet, Friday tomorrow and that’s one week down!

I cannot wait for tomorrow, Friday night is gin night, we don’t drink on school nights! Dry January can do one this year, I’ve worked 5.5 days worth of hours already this week...

In mundane news, I have done a big food shop and the supermarket was pleasingly quiet and well stocked. To be fair I didn’t get there until 8pm which means I’ve only just eaten dinner but looking for silver linings!

Champagneforeveryone · 07/01/2021 22:41

Well the moral of the story is not to make flippant jokes to old dogs. I am now £200 lighter after a trip to the out of hours vet with a poorly DDog1. He's been given an opioid painkiller (amongst other things) and is now completely off his tits, but much more comfortable.

To add insult to injury, he's not allowed to take the medication I picked up earlier today (at great expense) Grin

soddingkitten · 07/01/2021 22:48

Champagne - We need to know how DDog1’s “off his tits” on opioids is manifesting. Sorry to hear about the vet’s fees - yikes!
