What food would you start a punch up in the supermarket over?

(Title inspired by another thread - don't actually start one)

What is so essential you couldn't get through Christmas without? And how far would you go to ensure you got it?

Not necessarily Christmas-related but I'd wrestle you to the ground for the last jar of marmite

CisMyArse · 21/12/2020 16:16

My gentle, pacifist daughter would probably put you in a headlock for a jar of Nutella Grin

muckypaws · 21/12/2020 16:18

Cheese

RedToothBrush · 21/12/2020 16:18

Ooooo if it was the last jar in the country, I might have to consider fighting for it.

I don't think I could survive christmas with some sort of cheese and biscuits.

Fusilli pasta and pasta sauce, it's about all my asd son eats and I ended up having to put a begging thread on Facebook back in March when the last panic buyers meant I couldn't get any, so not ashamed to say I have a hearty stash of it now but will be buying more. Oh and Pringles as these are his other stable when he can't manage a meal. I would happily go head to head for the last one in the supermarket. X

I love this thread. Best covid related thread ever. Chocolate Yule log cake, Brie, pink
Lady apples, jelly babies, marmite, and my new favourite red fox Red Leicester cheese 👍🏻

LongPauseNoAnswer · 21/12/2020 16:19

My yearly Fry’s Mint Cream.

Ordered it online in October just to be sure (not in UK or IRL) because it’s my Christmas tradition.

HMSBeagle · 21/12/2020 16:20

Oh well nothing really. But as inspired by a PP, supernoodles for my son who has ASD.

Who knew that they are are a essential food item in a town where the adverage 3 bed house is 500k?

BearSoFair · 21/12/2020 16:21

Any time of year, salt and vinegar Pringles! I'd wield that tube like a little lightsaber if need be Grin
Just for Christmas, lebkuchen.

Nowaynothappening · 21/12/2020 16:24

Boursin and cranberry Wensleydale. Also appeteasers. Basically cheese Grin.

HeronLanyon · 21/12/2020 16:30

Organic potatoes.
I left the house this am with a list. I also had in my head ‘even if all I come back with is tats, that’ll be ok.’ !! I did and it will all be good b

I had two chickens in my basket today having to decide which one to get. Worried that someone else would grab the last one with the extended use by date before me.

InTheShadowOfTheMushroomCloud · 21/12/2020 16:33

Pork and cranberry stuffing

Used to get it at M&S but can't find it this year. I have had to buy plain and will add some cranberries.

I have never bought a pack, cooked it and eaten it all to myself cube by cube ...as a snack

MoltenLasagne · 21/12/2020 16:35

Aldi's milk chocolate soft lebkuchen.

JaneJeffer · 21/12/2020 16:45

Coffee. If I don't get my coffee everyone will suffer'

bathorshower · 21/12/2020 16:51

Broccoli - the only vegetable DD will eat. While I haven't started any fights over it, I have gone on broccoli finding missions during lockdown, which have included rearranging work meetings so I can get out first thing!

EnPoinsettia · 21/12/2020 16:51

Hazelnut milk for my coffee.

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/12/2020 16:53

Halva. Preferably plain and you can keep it if it’s choc flavour.

CrunchyNutNC · 21/12/2020 16:53

A perfect avacado.

Lonelycrab · 21/12/2020 16:54

Cucumber for my ds; he’s autistic and will not eat much else that’s green.

And sour cream and chive spread for me- it goes with practically anything 😋

MotherWol · 21/12/2020 16:58

Thanks to pregnancy cravings, clementines. I’m currently eating 3-4 of the tiny zesty things a day, and they’re one of the few things that don’t turn my stomach. If I run out I WILL go full pg-hulk on unsuspecting bystanders.

SomeoneInTheLaaaaaounge · 21/12/2020 17:00

Coffee there would be no point to anything without espresso

MajorMujer · 21/12/2020 17:01

I was rammed by a bloke with a trolley when I was 7 months pregnant over a bag of sprouts. Took a chunk of skin off my ankle, blood everywhere.

BashfulClam · 21/12/2020 17:01

I have actually witnessed a Christmas Eve scrap over the last bag of carrots. There was a proper physical fight that was finally broken up after one woman got the other in a headlock and started beating her over the head with a net of onions.
