What food would you start a punch up in the supermarket over?

(Title inspired by another thread - don't actually start one)

What is so essential you couldn't get through Christmas without? And how far would you go to ensure you got it?

Milk. I need my cup of tea in the morning.

Quirrelsotherface · 21/12/2020 17:06

I have actually witnessed a Christmas Eve scrap over the last bag of carrots. There was a proper physical fight that was finally broken up after one woman got the other in a headlock and started beating her over the head with a net of onions

I was pushed and shoved around in waitrose last year over the Christmas produce. We got a delivery slot this year.

thebear1 · 21/12/2020 17:06

Diet coke, I have a bit of a habit. Raspberries, as they are all that stand between ds and scurvy. He doesn't really eat any vegetables and few other fruits.

Quirrelsotherface · 21/12/2020 17:07

Sorry and I meant to add Grin at your comment, can totally see that happening after my experience last year

AIMD · 21/12/2020 17:08

I can’t imagine an Xmas without a turkey and potato’s! However I’m not much of a fighter so I’d probably just walk away sadly rather than fight anyone about it.

Peanutbutterjelly10 · 21/12/2020 17:16

Nothing because I don't actually need anything that badly

MysteriesOfTheOrganism · 21/12/2020 17:21

Fortunately I already have a decent stock of my favourite coffee beans, so nobody is under threat. Brew

purplecorkheart · 21/12/2020 17:53

Nothing tbh, there is no food item that I feel that strongly about anytime of the year.

I did witness a group of ladies pushing and shoving trying to get brussels sprouts a few years ago when they were in short suppy.

namesnamesnamesnames · 21/12/2020 18:01

Cheese.

nedtherobbot · 21/12/2020 18:08

Choloate chip brunch bars, ritiz dunkers, the only acceptable brand of fish fingers, the only acceptable brand of waffles, bannana, Turkey dinosaurs, baked beans. All for DS!

SeasonallySnowyPeasant · 21/12/2020 18:10

I can't think of anything I'd actually fight over unless it was the zombie apocalypse, but I'd be very sad face f I couldn't get the DC a pumpkin at Halloween.

Lyricallie · 21/12/2020 18:11

Ooo Cornish wafer crackers. They're my favourite but I only ever eat them at Christmas as they're so high calorie. However at Christmas they're all mine!

ihatesandpits · 21/12/2020 18:13

Twiglets. And I'd maybe just do the worst for the last bag Wink

HerRoyalNotness · 21/12/2020 18:15

Come summer time it’ll be the jalapeño lemonade from trader joe’s which makes the best maragarita. I’ll be stockpiling it. It irks me they have so many seasonal items

Eminybob · 21/12/2020 18:18

The turkey. We did our food shop yesterday, we arrived just at opening time and I dashed straight to the turkey section to bag mine.
I felt like a weight was lifted knowing it was in my trolley Grin

Kumquatsquash · 21/12/2020 18:18

Oatley Batista Oat Milk. So good it needs all capitals.

NeonSparkle · 21/12/2020 18:18

Blue Stilton or pigs in blankets

Kumquatsquash · 21/12/2020 18:19

Batista? BARISTA Angry Although dry shampoo is also an essential.

MMM2 · 21/12/2020 18:22

Tea bags.

AdoraBell · 21/12/2020 18:23

My DDs both practice karate. Your only choice is to move away from the M&Ms and prosciutto.

You’ve been warned.

umpteennamechanges · 21/12/2020 18:23

Trifle!

EveryPlanetHasAYorkshire · 21/12/2020 18:28

Crumpets.

Barabajagal · 21/12/2020 18:29

I will end you with a tea strainer for the last box of loose leaf lapsang souchong.

RumJerrySailorRum · 21/12/2020 18:29

Nothing, at any time of the year.

Not because I'm holier than thou, but because the things I need never run out in my house, ever.
