Fuck, missed Xmas delivery cutoff

TheWeightOfWords · 21/12/2020 01:58

Missed the bleeding food delivery cut off at 10pm last night. I'm trying to isolate before seeing grieving 90 year old DM on Christmas day. I'm an idiot. In my defense (defence?) , I have a lot going on.

Has anyone any ideas where I can buy stuff online? I was thinking niche places. Or any places.

Have you tried Iceland? There's slots for tomorrow showing up for me

GeraldgeeGum · 21/12/2020 02:04

Amazon fresh if it's available in your area? Comes same day 😁

Redglitter · 21/12/2020 02:05

Oh and Amazon Prime do a lot of Morrisons stuff with same day delivery

TheWeightOfWords · 21/12/2020 02:10

Oh thank you, I knew I could rely on mumsnet!

Can't get Amazon Fresh and supermarkets have no slots. How do I do the Morrisons food on Amazon?

Baileysoncereal · 21/12/2020 02:11

I think you can do a Morrison’s order on deliveroo too?
Could you click and collect - are there any slots for that left?

TheWeightOfWords · 21/12/2020 02:12

Iceland no slots Sad

Amazon Morrisons not available.

TenShortStories · 21/12/2020 02:14

Any farm shops near you?

TheWeightOfWords · 21/12/2020 02:16

@Baileysoncereal yes we have deliveroo subscription but they don't do things like a whole chicken or Christmas pudding. I'm such an idiot.

Had a Tesco slot too but fricking Tesco changed the rules and you have to order your slot in November and confim items by 14 December. Booked the slot but thought the email was just another spam email they were sending me.

I thought Amazon Fresh was Morrisons? Sorry if I'm wrong.

No click and collect near you? Asda now do an express click and collect service in some of their stores (you can search this on their map), you have to pay for the slot and book only a few hours in advance on the same day.

Weirdfan · 21/12/2020 02:17

Some of our smaller local shops (Spar/Co-op type places) have been doing deliveries for people isolating. Worth a look on your local FB groups too, lots of community initiatives on mine to help people who are stuck. Hope you get something sorted OP.

TheWeightOfWords · 21/12/2020 02:18

@TenShortStories yes, have planned a trip if necessary but would rather not as teyi g to isolate for DM.

In many areas the Co OP will deliver within 2 hours via Deliveroo. I haven't used it personally but my mum has. You can't order a big shop but you can do up to 20 items I think.

Otherwise phone a farm shop and see if you can collect an order so you don't have to go in. My elderly mum does this, then when she goes there she phones them.from.the car park and they come out and put the order straight into her boot.

yorkshirepuddddiiing · 21/12/2020 02:20

I know you said you're isolating, but could you go to a supermarket as early as physically possible, dash around and get out of there ASAP? My local Asda is open 24 hours so I could go now if I wanted!

I doubt you will find an online slot now and tbh I wouldn't trust it for Christmas dinner anyway, you only get what's available on the day and there's always stories about missing turkeys and potatoes!

Letsskidaddle · 21/12/2020 02:20

Our local Coop does deliveries through Deliveroo and Just Eat. Or go on either your local Facebook page, or sign up to your town on the Nextdoor app and see if anyone will help by doing a shop for you and dropping it off. If neither of those work see if any local pubs/restaurants are doing Christmas dinner deliveries.

I do think your local Facebook page is probably the best bet, someone is bound to help. Good luck!

Aquamarine1029 · 21/12/2020 02:22

Could you ask a friend or pay someone to go to the shop for you?

JMRules · 21/12/2020 02:24

Try Snappy Shopper

ChristmasStartedAlready · 21/12/2020 02:25

Have you double checked deliveroo? Apologies if so but a number of supermarkets that I can order from are stocking Christmas pudding, chickens etc where they weren't previously.

Talisin · 21/12/2020 02:26

If you’re in an area that’s in the one/two hour delivery slots for Amazon then you need the amazon Prime Now app - it’s different to the website. You can order Morrisons and Fresh through that. If there are no slots then keep trying every few minutes until one comes up. It saved our bacon during the first lockdown.

Albless · 21/12/2020 02:52

Try contacting your local church. If they themselves can't help, they may be part of or have details of a local resilience or support group in your area who can collect shopping for you and bring it to your door.

Local Council or Community Council might also be able to put you in contact with local support.

whoamIamIalright · 21/12/2020 02:57

What about going to a 24 hour supermarket? I just did my shop and it was bliss. Shelves fully stocked (or being stocked) no other customers just staff all wearing masks and miles away from me. DP thought I was mad going and it would be shut but... Monday started at midnight so Sunday trading hours end and shop is open! I couldn’t sleep and getting the big Christmas shop done really helped my anxiety. Hope you get it sorted.

TheHobbitMum · 21/12/2020 03:00

Aldi have started to do click & collect in some stores now, worth checking if you haven't already?

FelicityBeedle · 21/12/2020 03:02

I agree with other posters. Go to a 24hr supermarket tomorrow at silly o clock on the morning. Mask gloves full kit. Strip off the moment you’re back in the house and shower. Minimal risk

Chrispackhamspoodle · 21/12/2020 03:11

The amazon morrisons delivery is called Amazon prime now.Need prime though.Having said that all slots booked up here. It's brilliant normally.

Jenasaurus · 21/12/2020 03:16

In some areas you can get groceries on deliveroo. Morrisons and the Co Op in my area.

BoringBettie · 21/12/2020 03:19

See if your local co op offers the co op quick shop - you can google it and type in your postcode and they deliver same day. It’s much easier to get a slot because taxi drivers deliver it. I use it all the time - it’s been a godsend for me!
