Fuck, missed Xmas delivery cutoff

TheWeightOfWords · 21/12/2020 01:58

Missed the bleeding food delivery cut off at 10pm last night. I'm trying to isolate before seeing grieving 90 year old DM on Christmas day. I'm an idiot. In my defense (defence?) , I have a lot going on.

Has anyone any ideas where I can buy stuff online? I was thinking niche places. Or any places.

Not ideal- but is there an option for click & collect? X

FourDecades · 21/12/2020 08:10

@TheWeightOfWords - if you have booked your Tesco Delivery Slot and had your confirmation email, it will only disappear if you cancel it. You'll also get an email to say it cancelled.

yearinyearout · 21/12/2020 08:11

We are also trying to isolate as much as possible as my parents are coming, I'm going to the 24 hour Tesco's very late tomorrow night. I've been doing 8.30pm shopping for a while now and it's been much quieter, so I'm thinking 10.30pm.

Dugee · 21/12/2020 08:14

Co op do either delivery or just eat too. Think it's delivery but check.

Dugee · 21/12/2020 08:14

Deliveroo

sandgrown · 21/12/2020 08:16

Some local restaurants in my area are doing a full Christmas dinner to cook at home . It can be picked up Christmas Eve or Christmas morning.

Oh thank you, I knew I could rely on mumsnet!

Can't get Amazon Fresh and supermarkets have no slots. How do I do the Morrisons food on Amazon?

Try deliveroo. The do food collection and drop off from local foof shops.in some areas
Alexa1990 · 21/12/2020 08:22

I’ll try and find out but I read online at 1am via Instagram. Some have too much food now and some have none. They’ve set up a way for people to share their food with those now stuck alone.

I feel for you sending a virtual turkey and mince pie.

Op, do you still have this delivery?
SinkGirl · 21/12/2020 08:25

Could you ask if any friends have slots coming up you could add food to? I would be more than happy to do this and I have to finalise my order by the end of today - if anyone I knew needed food I would add whatever they needed to mine. Definitely worth asking around.

You also may find that some people have food coming they no longer need as they don’t have lots of family coming. Might be worth a Facebook post?

cdtaylornats · 21/12/2020 08:43

Had a Tesco slot too but fricking Tesco changed the rules and you have to order your slot in November and confim items by 14 December.

I booked a slot 3 days ago and have been adding things since.

Asda have click and collect slots available here.

My friend writes her name and that she is there to collect her shopping on a paper and holds it up. The worker then goes to collect the shopping and leaves it next to her car and goes back in the shop. She then puts her shopping in the car and drivers home. Her shielding mom lives with her. Maybe you could do that?

That would be a Christmas miracle too far.
BigFatLiar · 21/12/2020 09:15

Check Iceland again I managed a slot on Wed, I think they release slots through the day. I suspect availability depends on the area.

mumwon · 21/12/2020 09:21

I was putting things in my tesco order this morning & noted that most frozen turkeys are not available.

BIWI · 21/12/2020 09:21

Indeed @SoupDragon. I should have known better to post that. But, as ever, I live in hope.

HitthatroadJack · 21/12/2020 09:42

In fairness, sometimes you read the thread, write something and by the time you post, half a dozen posts and an update from the OP have been posted.

When it's within a short time window, it's not necessarily someone's lack of attention.

only from the "festive" range, they still process food as normal.

The OP had a Waitrose slot by 4:30am.
FourDecades · 21/12/2020 09:46

Loads of the Festive Food to Order wasn't even available to blinking order!

ChikiTIKI · 21/12/2020 09:50

Does your local market do delivery? I am near Manchester, Stockport and Altrincham markets deliver food.. Might be something like that near you?

BIWI · 21/12/2020 10:24

Read the thread @ChikiTIKI!

FFS. The OP got her Waitrose slot at 04.38 this morning.

Double mask and go at 3am - most city supermarkets seem to be 24 hours this week. And avoid Lidl, crazy busy.

Tesco seems to be the strictest as far as distancing is concerned in my experience, they are taking their responsibility very seriously.
