So my mum just died. What a bastard of a year.

Yesterday. She was only 72. She was in hospital so I hadn't seen her for 6 weeks. In the run up she was in a lot of pain and I had her sobbing on the phone to me whilst I tried to completely ineffectually make it better. I got to see her for 10 minutes and hold her hand while she passed away and when I try to go to sleep my brain helpfully puts me back in ICU to re-live that. I am so sad and I don't know what to do with myself (although I still have to sort out Christmas for the kids). Lockdown isn't helping as you can imagine. It's quite frankly, pants.

I'm adding my best wishes to you. My dearest mum died a couple of months ago and I'm also finding it very, very hard. There's a bereavement thread on here for anyone who's lost a parent and lots of us find it a great support. Please do come and join us if you feel like it.

I completely get the sheer awfulness of hearing your beloved mother crying in distress at the other end of a phone. It is unbearable.

That's exactly what I did, said to the nurse I dont know what to do now and was given a booklet. I have to go to the hospital tomorrow for death certificate and then ohone funeral director and that's as much as I now. I want my mum so bad.

Xx to you and sorry I hijacked your thread

I’m so sorry. My mum died in the first lockdown, at 71. It was fucking miserable. My heart goes out to you. The only two positives I drew from it is that people were as kind as they could be within the bloody restrictions, and it taught me I can cope with more than I imagined.

Flowers to you.
