How much trouble am I in? (Food poisoning)

SapphosRock · 18/12/2020 17:44

DP made home made sushi.

I ate some with what I thought were black sesame seeds on it. Tasted weird. Turns out the black stuff was from an old jar of caviar DP found at the back of the fridge... that went out of date in 2017 Envy (not envy)

What now? Am I going to die?

@JesusInTheCabbageVan

You really must be fucked OP. Nobody's even bothered to pick you up on your 'mostly vegan' post.

"Shall we...? Nah, no point, she's probably dead already."

I want to... I really REALLY want to...

Ithinkim · 18/12/2020 18:52

You'll be fine. It's in brine.

Trailing1 · 18/12/2020 18:53

Are you still alive, OP?

ClearingSpaceOnTheTrophyShelf · 18/12/2020 18:53

Your DH is clearly trying to bump you off

AlohaMolly · 18/12/2020 18:54

@SummerHouse

I am really confident you won't get sick

Either that or you will be hallucinating so bad you will meet Jesus at 19:49.

This has made my day Grin
NewlyGranny · 18/12/2020 18:56

Immodium will keep it in! If it needs to come out, let it, and drink lots of fluids; ideally dioralyte or the sachets for baby diarrhoea if you have them.

MorganKitten · 18/12/2020 18:56

@SapphosRock

Never tried caviar before (I don't move in caviar eating circles + try and be mainly vegan) so I don't know if it was off or not. It tasted quite disgusting but then I can't imagine fish eggs would be pleasant.
If you’re mainly vegan then sushi would be off the menu...

Anyway it’s fine to eat it, caviar can be left years to mature.

Chamonixshoopshoop · 18/12/2020 18:59

The Scandinavians love gone off fish... isn't it meant to be good for you somehow?!

soloedition · 18/12/2020 18:59

This thread makes me feel queasy just thinking about it.

I’m probably a cynic but my first thought was your OH is trying to kill you off- what a convenient zoom call! 😂

Diva66 · 18/12/2020 18:59

Is he trying to get rid of you? Has he started talking about re-laying the patio? Are you a very rich person who forgets they even have caviar leftovers?

Elderflower14 · 18/12/2020 19:00

@SapphosRock

This is the offending pot. I think we were given it for Christmas many years ago.

There are quite a few E numbers and preservatives in the ingredients list which is encouraging.

Can't see a picture!
FleeceNavidadToEwe · 18/12/2020 19:01

Had it been opened or did your DH just open it tonight?

Timeforabiscuit · 18/12/2020 19:02

I would make the argument for vegetable sushi with black sesame - because it's Christmas.

But it's been lovely knowing you Op - get that will written.

SapphosRock · 18/12/2020 19:04

It was masquerading as vegan sushi. Sushi rice, nori, avocado, peppers and tofu. And what I thought were black sesame seeds.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 18/12/2020 19:05

So your DP made Sushi & told you to help yourself while he was on a Zoom call...did you not think it was pretty selfish to eat ALL of it?

He put Caviar in something & told you to 'help yourself' & didn't tell you it wasn't vegan?

You didn't ask if it was vegan?

You're not going to die, you probably won't even be sick, but you do need to sort out your concept of vegan.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 18/12/2020 19:07

Right, so you thought it was vegan, he KNEW it wasn't, but told you to help yourself?!....

If he lived here, it would be HIM worrying about whether he will be alive in the morning or not!!

SinkGirl · 18/12/2020 19:07

Think of it as a pre-Christmas diet. I lost 7lb from norovirus a few years ago, but couldn’t eat for five days and was nearly admitted to hospital. I wouldn’t recommend it, otherwise I’d be finding an infected person to lick every year.

Ludefisk is really heavily preserved though - might I’m sure tinned caviar might be too? Bleugh. Don’t fancy it when it’s fresh, let alone years old.

YES so bad! Smile
RedToothBrush · 18/12/2020 19:14

how will we know if you die?

thosetalesofunexpected · 18/12/2020 19:14

@mrsPinkcock
What kind of food stuff items, have you eaten out of date then??
Was it something by accident you eat out of date slightly that started susprising tasted ok,maybe a bit better with mature flavour of food.

I know a few food stuff is ok to eat out of date,
I know eating Christmas marizipan cake is ok,nothing wrong eating it out of date taste exactly the same no difference.

And cheese is something you can eat out of date,along as cut off bit dodgy off colour first of all..

jessstan1 · 18/12/2020 19:19

'bye.

HappyBumbleBee · 18/12/2020 19:19

Oh dear 😮 I ate half a dodgy fish stick years ago - i knew as soon as I’d had a mouthful and debated making myself throw up or not - how I wish I had! Took about 18 hrs and then I KNEW that the horrible taste had been because they were definitely off, I was definitely poisoned and spent about six hours either on the toilet or with my head down it! I remember ringing the drs asking for help as I thought I was dying - suck ice cubes was the advice and ring back the next day if no better! You might be ok if you’ve made yourself sick.... but then again you might not 😔

TheInfected · 18/12/2020 19:20

(I don't move in caviar eating circles + try and be mainly vegan)

@SapphosRock But the caviar will surely be moving in circles within you! ConfusedGin
