I am pleased that Harry and Meghan are making a success of things.

It’s been such an eventful year for everyone with uncertainty and being pulled out of our normal way of life. It’s good to see people who left what might be considered a “golden cage” and find a way to fly.

It gives me hope and confidence that even though we may not have connections and gorgeous looks, we can step out and do things differently and still be ok

@400rabbits, nothing about the royal family is remotely about egalitarianism 😃.
If we have to label people as ‘royal’, I prefer this variant, where at least they are showing initiative and a modern approach

If you would like to help a start up coffee business then please google “Safi Coffee” which funds a primary school in Uganda. I won’t provide a link otherwise I will be accused of spamming.

Happyforthem · 15/12/2020 21:21

Yes, you are right that VCs often don’t fund coffee and micro business with lower/slower growth potential. That’s why it is nice to see Meghan support it. These micro businesses are often great ways of increasing employment within the community

Thanks @NonyaBizniz, I’ll take a look, sounds interesting. DH is a massive coffee drinker and we would be happy to do our small bit to support ethical companies

When I was a teenager I had this weird thing of imagining that remote, famous people were somehow worthy of all the mental and emotional energy I invested in them. I was deluded that it sort of brought me closer to them and was as if I somehow 'knew them'.

Part of growing up was realising how fucking sad that was Hmm

Arthersleep · 15/12/2020 21:25

I too am delighted that they are making such a success of things, particularly without relying upon their royal titles or connections. And of course, on the back of talking about food poverty, how refreshing it is to see her supporting a female led (no men involved in the start up, just the lady and her male partner) grass roots venture that provides affordable and nutritious Green Tea and Mushroom Lattes to the masses! And they obviously work because Meghan's skin looks smoother than ever and her lips, a little fuller. Amazing what a powdered oat milk with added lions claw can do! She is a marvelous business woman as well as a philanthropist, environmentalist and guru. All hail the Markle!

maureenfrombarnsley · 15/12/2020 21:30

@SebastianTheCrab

Yes, so pleased two jobless, over-privileged multi-millionaires (one of whom has never had to do a day's work in his life) have managed to retain the royal titles they were gifted so that they can cash in on them overseas without needing to give anything back to the country that gave them the titles (and money) in the first place. Fab!

Not sure how it applies to the rest of us though.

Ugh exactly. And if I hear one more condescending video advocating "change" - whatever that even means 🤢

dayswithaY · 15/12/2020 21:31

What's going on here? Meghan's PR is targeting Mumsnet?

Dowser · 15/12/2020 21:35

@Happyforthem
Are you Meagain?

I hope they never set foot on uk soil again ( in a public setting) and never receive one penny of tax payers money ever again

Happyforthem · 15/12/2020 21:35

I’ll vote for a Republic if we ever have a referendum. In the meanwhile don’t you find Spotify podcasts and Netflix and start-up investments more relatable than royal trains and whatnots that seem throwbacks from another age?

@SheldonesqueIsUnwell

Will the berocca be organic and served in a little clay tea pot sculptured entirely by feet?
P.s. I originally misread berocca as verucca. Please don't steal my new recipe though! My age renewing verucca tea blend not only tastes great but is so energising and good for the soul!

Arthersleep · 15/12/2020 21:40

Or sole.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 15/12/2020 21:40

No.

lunar1 · 15/12/2020 21:40

@SheldonesqueIsUnwell

And next week, I will be launching a pot of tea with a berocca in it.

Any takers?

I read broccoli the first time!
LeaveMyDamnJam · 15/12/2020 21:42

They, and the whole royal family are an anachronistic irrelevance.

Happyforthem · 15/12/2020 21:43

@dowser, I agree that I wouldn’t like them to get more tax payer money (in fact I wouldn’t like any of the RF to get taxpayer money).

So aren’t you pleased that they are making a success of it? Yes, they may be benefiting from their title, but Harry has that from birth anyway, so it’s not like we could give that title to someone else. And we as a country chose to support a monarchy and titles, so we can hardly complain if they use them?

OP posts:
Flvq · 15/12/2020 21:44

Emmm. No.

Happyforthem · 15/12/2020 21:44

@Arthersleep, verruca tea sounds repulsive, yet strangely intriguing 😃

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 15/12/2020 21:49

arthersleep

I think you may well lure away my target market with that cheeky brew.

I could come in as a brand development guru.

Pluke piccalilli
Cold sore consommé
Dandruff cordial

I can make little cups from pingpong balls.

Have you thought of a brand name?

Scrapings? Or scrpngs Wink

PheasantPlucker1 · 15/12/2020 21:49

Cant wait for the Podcast! Im going to listen while drinking overpriced prebiotic oat based lattes and thats all I need in my life to thrive, not just survive.

Arthersleep · 15/12/2020 21:51

@Happyforthem

Ah, yes, but anything that is good for you must taste slightly revolting! Besides which, my verucca tea sounds so much more palatable than Clevr's Green Matcha Tea...
Organic shade-grown matcha blended with oat milk and coconut cream, powered by adaptogens, mushrooms + probiotics, naturally sweetened with monk fruit. Just add water. A better way to start your day.

I for one, do not fancy putting the fruit of a monk anywhere near my mouth!

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 15/12/2020 21:54

I’m sure the monk might not want his jewels bobbing about in a brew either 😏

Arthersleep · 15/12/2020 21:54

@SheldonesqueIsUnwell

Scrapings? Or scrpngs

I have tears rolling down my cheeks. Literally.

(Should I save them to use in our special blend?)

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 15/12/2020 21:57

As long as you wring your face out for the podcast Grin

clearedfortakeoff · 15/12/2020 21:59

@Happyforthem

If I remember correctly Meghan was massively criticised in public media. It must have taken courage to still go out in public and refuse to shut up. Isn’t that what we want as a message for women, be yourself without making excuses?
Is there a prevailing situation where women cant be themselves? I've always been myself thank you and haven't been suddenly inspired to 'speak my truth' because two privileged rich people tell me to.
