What are the classes in your kids primary school named after?

When I was a child they were just classes 1-9. Now they have cool and funky names. My kids' school names them after scientists. What are yours called?

Ours is just the year number followed by the first initial of the teacher’s surname, i.e Miss Smith’s yr 2 class would be called ‘2S’. Nothing so exciting I’m afraid!

Current school... Animals.
Last school... Other schools. Authors the year before.
First school... Artists

GooGoo52 · 14/12/2020 21:52

Trees... Oak, Elm, etc.

Reception, year 1, year 2 ... you get the gist Grin

The house colours (sports teams) are named after famous British hills & mountains.

wendz86 · 14/12/2020 21:54

A number and a random letter . Used to be teachers last name but just random letters now.

mooncakes · 14/12/2020 21:56

They other is a random collection of famous dead people eg Nightingale Class

Birds. Quite like it.

BogRollBOGOF · 14/12/2020 21:57

Animals with an alliterative adjective such as Terrific Tigers.
Mostly they get referred to by their year number (singke form intake)

Local landmarks - a river and 2 hills.

littleducks · 14/12/2020 21:58

Previous primary was colours, they changed to number then teacher initial which upset parents so they changed to trees

Current school is larger so has theme for each year, zoo type animals, sea animals, birds, music genre, precious gems etc

Lucygucy · 14/12/2020 22:00

They pick a theme each year across the school and the years go in alphabetical order. E.g. reception is Apple and Avocado, year 1 is banana and beetroot etc.

Cattybumbum · 14/12/2020 22:00

My class are just yr2. But I teach in a one form entry school.
At my DDs school they are year group number teachers initials.
Last school I taught in were woodland creatures and I taught Foxes.

MothershipG · 14/12/2020 22:01

My DC's primary named the classes after nearby roads, which worked well as the local roads have nice names.

musicinspring1 · 14/12/2020 22:02

Trees

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 14/12/2020 22:03

Types of bears

spaceghetto · 14/12/2020 22:04

My child's school has animals. At high school, my for group was the initials of the teacher R.C. Made me laugh. A lot.

Shinyletsbebadguys · 14/12/2020 22:04

Sea animals this year. It got quite confusing because both DC are in similar sounding classes but 3 years apart. Add on to that ds2 has two different teachers , ds1 has a teacher 1 LSA for the class and a SENCO and there is the the music teacher that confused the hell out of me when she popped in to help with both ds1 and ds2 class at different times on the same day , the first month consisted of me calling everyone and everything by the wrong name including DC once or twice

I resolved that by avoiding calling anyone anything personal. It's far safer. Given that the two deputy heads are now the gate monitors on each end of the one way system , have really similar names and jobs and I can never remember which is which.

I'm not good at this bit.

MissDollyMix · 14/12/2020 22:05

The names of the teachers! Mrs Jones class, Mr Smith’s class etc etc Not sure what they’d do if they ever had two teachers with the same surname!

JamesMoriarty · 14/12/2020 22:05

Street names nearby.

isawthat · 14/12/2020 22:05
