What are the classes in your kids primary school named after?

When I was a child they were just classes 1-9. Now they have cool and funky names. My kids' school names them after scientists. What are yours called?

Just numbers and the teachers surname initial, so P1A, for instance.

Year number and teachers initial, so mr Brown's class would be 4B

Black people from history. Feels a little tokenistic as they’re mostly American & very “obvious” choices. We are in a very rural white area so I guess this is a clumsy, though hopefully well intentioned, way of talking about diversity...

Animals with the same initial as the teacher - so Mrs Osborne would be Octopus class for example.

Previous primary was colours, they changed to number then teacher initial which upset parents so they changed to trees

Current school is larger so has theme for each year, zoo type animals, sea animals, birds, music genre, precious gems etc

I never understand this, why are parents upset by a teacher initial as their class name? What is there to be upset about?

I like the roads idea. It would be cool to be in M25 class

Our primary has three 'houses' that are named after local rivers but the classes are P1 to P7 (Primary 1 is the Scottish equivalent of English reception class)

Flowers and trees. Used to be animals which was better!

My primary was small so no names for classes but we had houses named after lighthouses

The other theme we had was Explorers. Including the Reception class being... The Octonauts.

My secondary used three different forms of the letter ‘A’ from different alphabets.

My primary school had Year 2, Year 3 etc but we were also in ‘houses’, which were named after local abbeys - Bolton (blue), Fountains (red) and Kirkstall (yellow) which were used as teams for house points and sports day teams etc.

DC school is year and teachers’ surname, so 2D, 3F etc.

Trees. But reception is Acorns and Year 6 is Oak which is quite sweet

We have room numbers. So room 3, room 5 etc. Obviously rooms not numbered sequentially around the school and year groups randomly distributed so y5 are in rm 8 which us next door to rm5 (y2).

Diverse role models. I like it!
