To loathe the cat with a passion?

He is so needy, follows me everywhere, usually looking for food, which he then sniffs and walks away. He’s also got the loudest, most annoying miaow you’ve ever heard and it grates, to the extent I have to put him in another room or else I leave the room and leave him in there! The worst thing is that it’s just me and him during the day and that’s when he’s at his worst. So, is it YABU It’s a bloody cat or YANBU he needs to find a new home?

Lesson learned OP. The litter tray mob are literal and can't fathom anyone saying any against cats. Then have to share their photos

Our last cat was a grade A arsehole. His favourite game was to cry to get out then immediately cry to get back in. All day

Longdistance · 14/12/2020 22:02

Do you have a picture of this annoying cat? I want to see if his fur matches my decor before I offer to home him.

Bluemooninmyeyes1 · 14/12/2020 22:03

@Bloodypunkrockers by ‘litter tray mob’- do you mean reasonably decent people who care about animals?

I think so.....possibly have the same low opinion and air of disdain for the dog/hamster/guinea pig/rabbit owners forums too.

I mean the loons that frequent the litter tray. The ones that swear blind that cats bury their shit and we should all be honoured that their shit machines grace our gardens

That mob

VicMackey · 14/12/2020 22:10

‘Loons’ ...nice

Sideorderofchips · 14/12/2020 22:16

Yes cats can be knobs. The black one likes to shout at me on a regular basis. The black and white is currently on a mission to destroy the Christmas tree (yes I kmow she looks all innocent)

Maybe it would be best for you to rehome with someone who likes cats.

@Bloodypunkrockers well duh, the litter tray is for cat owners and cat lovers, what do you expect to hear on there exactly? You’re obviously not an animal lover so it find it distasteful that you take the time to come on to these posts to brag about neglecting your pets ie leaving your poor cat to cry at the door all day and make fun of decent people who do care about animals. You sound like a disgusting person.

Branleuse · 14/12/2020 22:25

Put him in the garden. Maybe hes bored

When you say ‘our last cat’ does this indicate you have traumatised Another ‘grade A arsehole’ since ?

I’m on your side op, I totally loathed our cat. And it got much worse as he got older, I would do anything to not be in the same room as him. I know how animal lovers feel about people who don’t share the love, but I wasn’t abusive to the cat, he was fed properly, had a lovely warm, comfortable bed and came and went as he pleased. I don’t believe he had a hard life or suffered. Cats being cats, if he hadn’t liked it he would probably have wormed his way into some other sucker’s household the way they do. Yeah, so I’m a dreadful human being so shoot me.

I am sorry now, but being a bit lighthearted just the same.

If you want a cat you have to be a maid or a servant.

I dislike them personally, and very sorry to those who love their cats. I get it, but don't understand it.

I am sure I will be told off soon enough. But each to their own and all that. Oh and the hairs, boak and yuk.

And just to balance things out, I feel the same about dogs, tortoises, hamsters and so on.

Far too much hassle in a hassle filled life.

Bloodypunkrockers · 14/12/2020 22:47

VicMackey don't you have some crying and shaking to do? Grin

Pieceofpurplesky · 14/12/2020 22:52

OP you would love my cat. She hates people and if we walk in a room she walks out - after taking a swipe at us.

I love cats but this me is a monster - had her for 14 years and she has never wanted any attention.

Glad someone else is in the same boatGrin

Two of my cats are arseholes. One thinks my sole existence is to provide him with Dreamies. He’s pissed off with me right now as I’ve put presents under the tree so he can’t go under the tree, climb up it and knock all the baubles off. The other one shouts at le to go lie on my bed so he can come lie with me and get a fuss but only me, is anyone else comes in the room he runs away.

You would love girl cat OP, she is the lowest maintenance cat ever. You wouldn’t know she was there. She has her routine of food and sleep. She never wants a fuss, doesn’t scratch the wallpaper or carpets. She’s a dream.

Love them all dearly.

Peacocking · 15/12/2020 04:07

I'm a huge animal/cat person and have a very large amount of pampered animals. I'm in bed with half a dozen cats and a couple of dogs now. But...I've ended up loathing a couple of cats over the years too! I'm human - I'm fallible - and the odd animal is a total dick or just doesnt rub along with a particular human. The couple of cats that I've struggled with have been loud wailing meeeeeeowwers that endlessly beg for food and follow me relentlessly around the house hoping for food 24/7. After a few months anyone would be tested and if you haven't lived with a cat that does this then you really can't imagine how much it can get to you. I work on the principle that if I really dislike an animal now and again, that's okay as long as I dont show it or treat it differently. If I couldn't manage that, then I'd look to rehome for everyone's sake.

dontgobaconmyheart · 15/12/2020 04:22

Bet you're regretting this eh OP, the cat cult is out. Given that it's fairly obviously lighthearted and OP seems to just want a bit of peace and quiet during lockdown after being lumbered during the day with a cat that's being a pain, that she has looked after as a family or for 10 years of it's life , what actually is the problem.

Or are you only allowed to turn up to threads containing the word cat and deliver the same old mumsnet comments about 'he owns you you don't own him' OP or the whole ridiculous 'cat slave' narrative that pervades every thread about felines.

I'm more of a dog person, granted but I hope those feeling upset at home haven't got any meat or dairy in the fridge whilst getting hysterical about who is and who is not an 'animal lover'.

Do put a photo up though before you rehome it OP, always nice to see others pets!
