To loathe the cat with a passion?

He is so needy, follows me everywhere, usually looking for food, which he then sniffs and walks away. He’s also got the loudest, most annoying miaow you’ve ever heard and it grates, to the extent I have to put him in another room or else I leave the room and leave him in there! The worst thing is that it’s just me and him during the day and that’s when he’s at his worst. So, is it YABU It’s a bloody cat or YANBU he needs to find a new home?

The audacity! Ffs poor thing is just being a cat and you loathe it

NeurologicallySpeaking · 14/12/2020 19:38

@reefedsail

Aww, you can't dump him just because he wants to be with you!

My cat follows me round the house (picture or I know it didn't happen). She gets in every cupboard or drawer I open, sticks her head in any food I have and throws herself on the floor in front of my feet when I walk. I like it!

Burmese?

He sounds like a lovely sociable cat - many people would absolutely love that, and I actually think it wouldn't be a bad idea to rehome him. He'd be much happier somewhere he was loved and appreciated. Go through a reputable animal charity though, don't even think about rehoming through Facebook or similar.

@pilates

I hate threads like this. I still miss my cat who went missing over 2 years ago. I adored my cat and you don’t give a shit about yours.
😥

reefedsail What a stunning cat, gorgeous.

OP just rehome the poor animal.

You don't want it around you and I doubt you give it much attention, which is probably why it's so needy.

Why get a cat in the first place? Perhaps replace it with a stuffed toy.

ktp100 · 14/12/2020 19:39

BAD. CAT. MOM!!!!

I sound like I'm joking but I'm not.

Your cat is too good for you.

Stuckforlong · 14/12/2020 19:40

I can't believe you mean that , otherwise why get a cat in the first place. The thing with cats is they all have a different personality and it sounds like yours adores you ,

fucknuckle · 14/12/2020 19:41

i taught my cat to give me a paw in return for dreamies. now he follows me around tapping my foot with his paw and shouting at me.

i hold myself entirely responsible for this. cats are fuckers, but i love him so it’s all good.

Sounds like the relationship I have with my husband 😂 however I love my cat 😻

YesMeLady · 14/12/2020 19:42

Poor cat. I hope you rehome him through a charity. He sounds a lovely character.

reefedsail · 14/12/2020 19:42

@NeurologicallySpeaking yep.

NeurologicallySpeaking · 14/12/2020 19:43

@reefedsail Recognised the description before I even saw the pic! I have two Burmese kittens!

Bluemooninmyeyes1 · 14/12/2020 19:45

People like you don’t deserve to have pets. You sound like a horrible specimen of a human.

BarrytheFatcat · 14/12/2020 19:45

He just wants some fuss!

Cats do like attention sometimes you know!

reefedsail · 14/12/2020 19:46

This is our third. They are the best cats! Forget doing anything by yourself though. Why would you do that when a Burmese could do it first and better? Hmm

Bluemooninmyeyes1 · 14/12/2020 19:48

Oh and btw I clicked YANBU because I think the cat DOES deserve a new home, not think I think you’re not being unreasonable. Your reasons are stupid.

Lastfreakinglegs · 14/12/2020 19:49

My cat is adorable but my dog really got on my tits today. Constantly loudly kicking her butt and clicking her teeth next to me whilst working on my laptop. Then when I opened the front door she bloody run off to the local park and I had to chase after her. The cat is a dream in comparison.

VicMackey · 14/12/2020 19:49

I’m moving off, I’m actually crying thinking about this. And the OP hasn’t come back, probably pissing themselves laughing at the reactions. Not nice behaviour.

PinkiOcelot · 14/12/2020 19:51

Awwwww. Your poor cat.

Lastfreakinglegs · 14/12/2020 19:52

By the way we had a cat follow us home last night looking for attention and acting how you describe. Could it have been yours?

jasjas1973 · 14/12/2020 19:52

Yep rehome, you will just make the poor thing miserable, i hope you are happier wherever you decide to live.

tmh88 · 14/12/2020 19:52

@fucknuckle your cat made me laugh out loud, adorable Grin

roarfeckingroarr · 14/12/2020 19:53

Cats are dicks. YANBU - but you were U to get a cat.

Burnthurst187 · 14/12/2020 19:53

Has he been dewormed recently? Our cat is given a dewormer in the form of a paste, we mix it in with some tuna, you can get tablets but our's wouldn't take them

In the past we've found that when our cat miows for food all the time then leaves it or generally acts differently it can be down to worms or, change his food. We currently have four different dry foods that we give him all mixed together. Having just the same flavor wet or dry food will get very boring. Imagine us eating the same meal every single day

MitziK · 14/12/2020 19:55

That's nothing.

One of my DTwatCats (clue's in the name) sits beside me on the sofa and looks at me.

She's fucking doing it right now. I can feel it boring into the side of my head. And when she isn't doing that, she's proclaiming undying love and adoration by insisting on being in the gap between us in bed or sitting, staring at me like a stunned mullet.

I wish she'd just shout at me like the other one does for 85% of the day when he isn't trying (and succeeding) to steal a space between our pillows.
