To loathe the cat with a passion?

Changename1000 · 14/12/2020 19:13

He is so needy, follows me everywhere, usually looking for food, which he then sniffs and walks away. He’s also got the loudest, most annoying miaow you’ve ever heard and it grates, to the extent I have to put him in another room or else I leave the room and leave him in there! The worst thing is that it’s just me and him during the day and that’s when he’s at his worst. So, is it YABU It’s a bloody cat or YANBU he needs to find a new home?

Just seen your update! So fair enough cats can be annoying but have a special place in our hearts

Changename1000 · 14/12/2020 20:49

@NeurologicallySpeaking No he’s not.

Threads like these make me so angry. You chose to get the poor animal. And yes, pets are a big commitment for years. To loathe it to the point where you start a thread on mumsnet is ridiculous.

I have a two year old dog and yes, she can be annoying but I love her to bits and wouldn't dream of ever saying that I loathe her.

Heffapotamus · 14/12/2020 20:53

Completely going off topic - but I'm slave to a Burmese too. She is the best girl but can only be described as "high maintenance"! My chatty, nosey, mischievous "Velcro cat" has got me through the hardest times. Love her ❤️🐈❤️

Changename1000 · 14/12/2020 20:54

@Burnthurst187 Yes he has as well as having flea meds.

@VicMackey If you’re looking for a fight, look elsewhere dear.

@Jamie8671 It’s months of being shouted at by a cat.

@zoemum2006

Jeez you people are a bunch of freaks!!! It’s a cat!!

People get sympathy all the time for their children annoying them but you’re not allowed to irritated by a cat?

I guess they’re right that some care more about animals than people in this country.

This!

Your cat sounds lovely. You sound horrible. Please re-home this poor lovely cat so it can be given the love it deserves.

teenagetantrums · 14/12/2020 21:08

Yanbu..cats are bloody hard work
.

Aahotep · 14/12/2020 21:09

My cats are very judgemental. I have to shoo them out of the bathroom before I shower. I can't stand the judging stares if they stay.

Poppingnostopping · 14/12/2020 21:09

I kind of understand, I have an exceptionally chatty cat and when you work from home all day, the miaowing can get relentless, he miaows for about two hours between 7.30-9.30, has a play, sleeps a lot of the day, and then only miaows a tiny bit in the evening. It's those mornings, and his miaow is so piercing as he's a large breed! I still luffs him.

Not looking for a fight at all ‘dear’ whatever gave you that idea ? Just concerned when animal welfare has been brought to attention on a public forum.

Fishfingersandwichplease · 14/12/2020 21:12

Mine dies this too and if l dare shut the door when l go to the loo, he just scratches it like mad til l come out. Drives me mad but l adore him!!

FPS123 · 14/12/2020 21:15

@Santaisironingwrappingpaper that’s interesting. My boy has been like this since his baby brother was killed in a road accident in September.
I’ve been wondering how he’d take to a new kitten...

NoSensei · 14/12/2020 21:17

@reefedsail

Aww, you can't dump him just because he wants to be with you!

My cat follows me round the house (picture or I know it didn't happen). She gets in every cupboard or drawer I open, sticks her head in any food I have and throws herself on the floor in front of my feet when I walk. I like it!

@reefedsail Love your blue burm, I have one just like her, and she is super needy and loud and I wouldn’t have it any other way 😻

Does he have a catflap

Heffapotamus · 14/12/2020 21:22

I think we need a Burmese/needy cat appreciation thread!

Santaisironingwrappingpaper · 14/12/2020 21:22

We def had no plans for a dkitten. But dcat has been pulling his hair out and just howling.. Dh joked he would drop kick him into ndn garden!! Dd was devastated!! Ha ha! The noise has been ear splitting for months.
Dcat hissed a few times. No aggressive behaviour though. Same room for meals /tray and sleeping. All separated areas though. Bed each, tray each, food stations each. Sitting next to each other on dd's bed within 2 weeks. Washing and cuddling in 3 weeks. Seems he really needed her.

hellejuice91 · 14/12/2020 21:25

I am a cat lover so aware I may be slightly biased. From having cats it sounds like the cat is bored, have you tried playing with him? (laser pointers are super easy ways to play with cats that allow you to do very little), giving him a cuddle or just talking to him?

He good also be stressed has anything happened recently. Someone passing away? A new pet? Even a change in smell? He could also be unwell

LagneyandCasey · 14/12/2020 21:26

All cats are annoying, op. I love my gorgeous cat with all my heart but she can be a total pain in the arse. Fussy with food, wrecks the carpets, sleeps on clean washing, meows to go out then sits waiting to be let in, hair everywhere. Not to mention the vet visits because she likes to scrap with the bigger moggy next door. I'm with her all day too, trying to work whilst being her slave.
I couldn't be without her though. She's the light of our lives, especially during lockdown. But I totally get your annoyance!

EloiseTheFirst · 14/12/2020 21:28

@hugocat

Yes yabu , poor cat. You horrible woman!!
Totally agree.
Frankola · 14/12/2020 21:31

I think the cat might be better off with someone who will give it more love and socialisation tbh Angry

Cats are clever. They're also social. They enjoy company and affection. My 2 cats seek me out for attention. They miaow to communicate - not just because they're hungry.

Perhaps you'd benefit from reading a book or 2 on cats and seeing if you'd like to improve your relationship with your cat. Of not rehome to someone who will make the effort.

Bloodypunkrockers · 14/12/2020 21:54

@VicMackey

I’m moving off, I’m actually crying thinking about this. And the OP hasn’t come back, probably pissing themselves laughing at the reactions. Not nice behaviour.
Just crying. Or crying and shaking?
VicMackey · 14/12/2020 21:57

Why are you asking ?
