@AcornAutumn. I’m disappointed but not surprised that people are falling for it. We are always told how great and independent the BBC is, yet very few people are aware of the current Ofcom COVID reporting restrictions and regulations so absolutely believe what they see and hear. Add that to the constant 24/7 scaremongering media and I understand more the scared eyes peering out from behind the masks. The complicity of the media in the attack on our country’s mental health is unjustifiable and I hope there is a hell because all those complicit in this deserve it.
Re scared eyes

I’m pleased to say my area is getting better. Last night in the supermarket, many masks on chins.

On the tube, people taking them off and making a big deal of breathing so no one bothers them, though that’s sad in itself.

There’s signs in my flats to wear a mask in the lift. Last night four of us got in, no masks, and just looked at the sign and then at each other and rolled our eyes.

I do think the less nervous are probably out more during the day though.

Sorry, that was off piste, I’d like to see the media get hell for this but they won’t.

I honestly can't imagine ever not having restrictions again. We have been in restrictions since July. We had about 2 week where we could see people. So essentially we've been in 'lockdown' of some sort since march. It's bullshit.

Jourdain11 · 15/12/2020 12:20

On a complete aside, does anyone have any tips for getting food into a child who refuses to eat?

DD1 is still having a massive flare up with her paediatric neuro inflammatory disorder and, in addition to all the other symptoms she's now refusing to eat because she can't stop thinking that the food might be poisoned.

DH thinks to leave her be and she'll eat eventually, but I'm not so sure. I can't even get her to have a smoothie or a milkshake.

Might try a trip down the road to Nero and see if we can break the deadlock!

The Dementor Mayor is only hanging in their as the mayor elections were suspended apparently due to Cvoid...how convenient for him.

Is there any chance of the Tier being lowered in your area?

Been shopping for booze this morning all tucked away now in case drakeford goes all prohibition on us on Thursday so folks don't have Xmas New year celebrations. Seen plenty of hints on twitter about it so covered now

Very wise.
Bollss · 15/12/2020 12:26

@AcornAutumn I doubt it. Rates have dropped but it means nothing does it. They'll just find another reason to keep it.

You think he'll lose? I can't see it Confused

The Tories are doing the works on him at the moment. In my area alone, he's apparently responsible for Hammersmith Bridge falling down (although it appeared to be there last time I looked...) and for Shepherd's Bush Road being closed for a whole day due to an accident with a truck (was Dementor Mayor driving it?).

I didn't hear the Jeremy vine discussion someone mentioned yesterday because my dad said "BBC? More like biased broadcasting company" and switched it off. I think the way this has been played in the MSM should be another thing to be investigated when the dust settles.

AcornAutumn · 15/12/2020 12:33

I have a feeling there’s not going to be a mayoral election next year but I suspect Khan will stand down.

I think someone got to him. He was so cheerful about London being safe...and then did the crazy u turn with the government. I realise he couldn’t stand against it.

Why bother wasting public money?

I agree with this. It always felt as if he had a bit of spark and courage, but that's totally gone recently. I do wonder what happened.

As longs as she's drinking - your DH idea is a reasonable one- take the pressure off her and the lack of focus on her not eating making it easy for her to drop the idea when she does get hungry feles more normal.

Though temping with junk food/cakes/sweets/favoite food - shop bought food would be my next step - and being part of group eating so some social cues especially if sibling or near own aged kids/slightly older. Other option is getting her involved in food prep - possibly as fun family activity - pizza/claes ect and giving her as much control as possible over eating till her anxiety is more managable.

Must be worrying though and something to keep an eye on and talk to GP about if it persists.

I'm guessing you eating a bit of the food before she eats it so she can see nothing bad happens to you won't be enough?
Jourdain11 · 15/12/2020 12:55

Thank you! I can see that taking away the pressure to eat might help. I'm going to take her to the shops this afternoon and we can visit the local French bakery, which she usually loves, and if she wants she can pick herself out something. She is drinking, but she's only drinking water. So although she's at least staying hydrated, she won't actually be getting any energy from it Sad

Jourdain I’m confused, I thought you had pneumonia?

🎤 I would go out tonight
But they’re probably still taking
Details

It’s menacing, it’s stupid
And going to Tier 3, why care?

There’ll be a council boy
Excited by his place
He’ll say
Follow the rules 🎤

Seriously, people will still have to give details tonight won’t they.

Word has reached me of some pubs who aren’t but they’re about 60 miles away!

BogRollBOGOF · 15/12/2020 13:11

If I'm wanting my two to eat, I siphon a few spoonfuls off into a small baby bowl or tea plate so they're starting afresh with a small, managable amount.

This disinformation by all media tugging of the forelock questioning because of ofcom is nauseating but true

I'm out of hospital since Sunday 👍 Still on antibiotics and still knackered, but I'm feeling a lot better.

Since it's not viral I cannot pass it on and the doctor recommended to actually try to take some exercise in the outdoors each day, because it will speed up recovery.

I'm home with DD as she's off school, so I think a wander up the road to the shops will tick the exercise box. Although I'm doubtless going to start coughing as soon as we get out and will probably terrify passersby who may think they're being exposed to deathly "Covid germs".

I actually have permission not to wear a mask... but I'm afraid I'll get yelled at if I go in any shops without one Confused

Thats a good idea .

We've done in past - Indoor pincics full of finger food and small bites maybe while watching a film/TV, buffets they can wonder in and out of - we often have one set up over christmas for meals in kitchen and tehy wonder in and out of helping themsleves - and having serving dishes they help themseleves from for sit down meals going forward (probably worth avoiding at the minute as it's too obvious if she not eating at all and puts pressure on her) .

They might all be worth exploring - small amounts she can control or not eat at all (while you keep a very non obvious eye on her intake).

Bollss · 15/12/2020 13:34

Just watching the news. They're going to cancel Christmas aren't they.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 15/12/2020 13:35

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 15/12/2020 13:39

Covid: 'Rash' Christmas rules 'will cost many lives'

Does read like they are coming under huge pressue to do so .

They can try but unless they're gonna borrow a few armies to patrol the streets they're stuffed
