Hello everyone. I have just eaten an apple - it was sharper than I would have liked it to be.

sueelleker · 09/12/2020 18:22

I may be a bit excited-I found a newsagents today that still had orange Twirls in stock; I may have bought too many...

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 09/12/2020 19:08

I had to google Twirl - now I know.

I think about turning old family fotographs into commented foto books, but I am not sure if this is a good idea.

EggNogPegg · 09/12/2020 19:08

I thought I'd clicked into this thread from my 'I'm on ' tab and was taken aback to walk straight into the middle of a bun fight. Then I realised that it was the Christmas Tree thread and backed swiftly out again.

DS2 is currently in a yellow bath courtesy of the bath bomb he got in his advent sack today. It looks like a bathful of wee.

MissConductUS · 09/12/2020 19:31

I had to google Twirl also, and bun fight. Both are useful terms to be sure.

My dentist keeps rescheduling my appointment to install my new crown. He's now passed it off to an underling as he'll be on holiday when it happens.

My boss is driving me a bit batty. If he asks a question and he doesn't like the answer he just nods at me and then asks the same question again a few days later, hoping that the answer will have changed somehow.

There are orange Twirls?! Why did I not know this?

DH brought home two types of lebkuchen today. One is milk chocolate, the other is dark chocolate

@MissConductUS, that is so infuriating

WednesdayAllTheWay · 09/12/2020 19:50

@Frownette

Got into a complete tangle with my face mask first thing as it went into my eyes.

Shop lady was saying "just take it off" as I couldn't see but I was no no it's ok and then walked out straight out of the shop into a bin and swore loudly

Similar. Yet another embarrassing walking into a cafe then unable to see a thing as glasses misted up. Can't see a thing without them either so trying to nonchalantly wipe away the mist whilst pretending to study the board. Or some part of the wall that might be the board.
Prokupatuscrakedatus · 09/12/2020 19:57

I regularily catapult my glasses through the room when taking my mask off.

HelenaJustina · 09/12/2020 20:15

One DC was identified as close contact yesterday, luckily old enough to leave at home to do remote learning so it’s not really affecting me much yet.

They're limited edition, and appear in October (presumably for Halloween) They then disappear until the next year.

Well I woke up early and thought I'd pissed myself. Thankfully I found out the warm wetness in my lap was just my cup of tea that I fell asleep holding. I have chronic fatigue due to my Fibromyalgia and should really have learnt not to hold beverages while sitting down by now. Stupid fool Blush

silkiecat · 09/12/2020 20:40

DH came back with the things I ordered. He put the llama lamp in our room, DS was following it saying llama lamp, llama lamp. I've named the llama Laura. Then we put the mini real Christmas tree upstairs and put the lights on. DS sat next to it for 15 mins gazing at it. Then I said to DH can you get rudolph. Now the singing rudolph has appeared DS is off with that giggling away.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 09/12/2020 20:50

There even is a lama chain of lamps (Lamalichterkette). Laura is a very apt name for a lama lamp. My mobile (Handy in German) is called Heinz: Heinz das Handy.

silkiecat · 09/12/2020 21:07

DD has queried the essentialness of Laura. Here is a terrible photo of her. DS completely understands and is by the mini Christmas tree again and appears to be doing many calculations - I heard 26,400.

I see your glasses and raise you hearing aids fallout without me realising on a regular basis when taking off my mask
Prokupatuscrakedatus · 09/12/2020 21:20

Nydj You win! It always makes me look so grown up - I am nearing 60.

I had to leave for home just when they ware starting on a very high quality Glühwein in a brand new Glühwein kettle at the office.

Therainisback · 09/12/2020 21:44

DGD & I put the Nativity Set up this afternoon. It is about 25 years old, from Avon, bought when my DC were small. It came in a box, minus the shepherd but with 4 wise men, 2 of whom are identical. We refer to them as the 2 wise men & the twins.
Every year I wonder if someone is setting up a Nativity with 2 Shepherds & 2 wise men.

Therainisback · 09/12/2020 21:45

In other dull news I scalded my arm whilst rescuing the coffee jar

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 09/12/2020 21:46

I passed a tow-truck when I was on the school run this afternoon, the company name was Camel Tow. I think it's a pun too far .

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 09/12/2020 21:47

Are you icing your arm Therainisback? Scalds are so painful.

This made me laugh Heather. I’m glad it was just tea.

I have just finished the quiz for the office Christmas quiz tomorrow evening. 🤯 Large chunks of it were shamelessly plagiarised from other online quizzes. I made sure I mixed several up, so hopefully it won’t be too obvious to anyone else. I’m having a cuppa and some Lidl stollen bites (the work of the devil, but so tasty) as a reward.

Today’s Sodding news is that I found the remains of a garden bird’s egg shell on the hall carpet this morning. It was smaller than a bantam egg but larger than a quail’s, pure white, delicate and fragile. Any keen birders who can help? I had to shut him in because my neighbour had her builder round again, so he was bouncing off the walls this afternoon.

This also made me laugh, but I agree it’s a vulgar pun. I can’t tell if hysteria is setting in.

I have also just shut Sodding in the kitchen for bed as he was climbing the Christmas tree again and I’m not in the mood for it. He was so happy and purred when I picked him up that I immediately felt mean, but I still put him to bed. Tired, so tired.

soddingkitten · 09/12/2020 23:21

This webpage makes me think collared dove: www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/blog/2020/05/identify-eggshells/ I don’t think it was large enough to be a wood pigeon’s.

silkiecat · 09/12/2020 23:23

DD has put our artificial Christmas tree up in her room, she said as she rarely leaves her room she needed it in there and the rest of us could share the mini one. Selfless as ever Grin Still keeps it away from small animals.

silkiecat · 10/12/2020 00:36

Mini tree
