@MissConductUS, I am very much looking forward to day as I sit here at 8.30pm with my eyes dropping.

Nydj · 25/12/2020 23:11

Hope everyone has a good Christmas xx

MissConductUS · 25/12/2020 23:59

You too @nydj

I just watched the Queen's Christmas broadcast. It was really lovely.

You're a more dedicated Brit than I @MissConductUS. Like every year I forgot the Queen's speech was even on. I have since read articles about it, and it sounds like it was a nice one so I might watch it later for the first time since I was a child and my grandparents made us all sit down to watch it. I read something the other day about being able to play it through Alexa.

DH and I watched Soul last night, the new Pixar that was released on Disney+. It was lovely. DS2 it watching it now.

SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat · 26/12/2020 10:27

Just woken up. I watched Chalet Girl on Netflix which was one of the choices offered to DS at school and he was horrified by. I really liked it but DS would have hated it esp. as the Mum had died and he dislikes any romance.

Just about to have a cup of tea. Booked a rubbish clearance for old house.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 26/12/2020 10:46

2nd day of Christmas here (i. e. even those shops that are allowed to be open are closed), it is overcast but not cold.

I have finally started on the excercise routine DD foud for me and I am so totally out of shape that I was afraid my grandparents were aiming their harps at me. They were among those who founded a sportsclub incl. the 1st for women in their hometown.

MissConductUS · 26/12/2020 10:53

I'm just back from my run and letting the space heater warm up the bathroom a bit. We're back to the cold, about -4 outside.

@EggNogPegg - You can watch it on youtube, that's where I found it. Some of the visuals are really good. They played an excerpt from it on the nightly TV news here last night, that's what got me to look for the whole thing.

I watched the last episode of BBC's The Living and the Dead on Netflix last night after the family zoom calls. What a shame they only made one season.

DH has gone for a walk before storm Bella hits, it's a yellow warning for wind and we live in an area with lots of huge, old trees so there are often branches down in a storm. I am watching Bridgerton on Netflix, zero historical accuracy but fabulous on dresses, romance and modern pop tunes played regency style

EggNogPegg · 26/12/2020 11:01

Raining here. The DC wanted to go to the park today for a Nerf battle with their new guns. That won't happen. The DC got one of these each and DH got a Tommy Gun style one. They tried to have a battle in the house yesterday, but DS1 shot DS2 at point blank range. There were tears and I'm now going to dig out the ski goggles for future battles.

I have a cat on my lap and no inclination to get up and do anything productive.

It just started to snow!

Squirrel26 · 26/12/2020 11:15

There was a discussion in on of my WhatsApp groups at about 7am this morning about how good Bridgerton is. I might watch it later.

I somehow managed to make myself incredibly busy yesterday - left home at 6.30 to go and see my horse and his horsey mates (I am soft and someone else does this for me on a usual morning so it was a novelty!) then I drove over to my parent’s and had a cup of tea with them and swapped presents, then I walked the dog (and slid down a muddy hill on my arse...only about 5 other walkers saw... Hmm ) then I had about an hour to have my Christmas dinner (courtesy of M&S and frozen!) before going round to a friend’s for chocolate and home Alone 2. I was in bed by 9, but the dog wanted to play with a stuffed chicken he’d been given. He loves it. Loves it to BITS...

forgetthehousework · 26/12/2020 11:44

Well I have finally managed to get dressed and make it downstairs! We were considering a pyjama day but didn't feel quite in the mood. As it is almost time for our midday latte and toasted teacake I shall have to find the YouTube asmr/coffee shop of our choice to have on the TV in the background (the fact that we can't actually sit in a coffee shop is not going to stop us feeling like we're in one!). I just have to find one without bad jazz as the background - which is harder than you might think .... Xmas Smile

HelenaJustina · 26/12/2020 12:39

DC slept in until at least 8am this morning, which was nice. I ran to Mass, they drove to join me. We’ve opened more presents and eaten chocolate for being good in Mass! Just trying to shove them all out to walk the dog before the weather turns.

MissConductUS · 26/12/2020 12:54

@EggNogPegg - that is a mega Nerf gun. I love your blue and white carpet and cast iron fireplace. You have a lovely home.

In case anyone is getting concerned, I am watching the post count in anticipation of starting thread 9.

In other news, DH has ordered snow tires tyres for his new car. He usually favors Michelins, but the online tire tyre dealer (tirerack.com) is out of them in the size needed, so he's ordered a set of Pirellis that got good reviews.

My lovely MIL has gift checks for both of the DC's but doesn't want to mail post them because the USPS has lost a number of things she's mailed recently. DD is itching to get hers before she goes to uni, so DH and DS will go visit her this week, bring some groceries and Christmas leftovers and pick up the checks in person. DD is getting two, one for her birthday and one for Christmas. She was a bit of a spendthrift as a child but since she started working has become quite sensible about money, even opening a retirement account and investing in stocks. She got some investment advice from DH first thankfully.

I got a bottle of orange ans cacao gin for Christmas. It is delicious! Counting down the hours until it becomes socially acceptable to crack into it again GinXmas Grin

forgetthehousework · 26/12/2020 13:22

It's Christmas @Spudlet, there is no socially unacceptable time Xmas Grin

SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat · 26/12/2020 14:57

I keep falling asleep today though think I must have been up late watching Netflix. Just had turkey and coleslaw sandwiches with crisps and then 1 of the two left Christmas chocolate desserts, DS had the other one. DD is vegan and DH kindly said we could have them.

I do remember in the middle of the night the cat howling and I said to DH the cat must want more turkey and he said it's fine I can ignore her she's had two bigs bowls of turkey already today (supposed to be on a renal diet!) and then she howled the loudest howl and like the loudest snarl ever and DH was Xmas Shock cat I'm scared and I'm coming now.

Nydj · 26/12/2020 18:43

A nice quiet Boxing Day here. DH remembered that he had forgotten to give me and DS a giant ball of Linder chocolates yesterday so today we added them to the chocolate mountain Grin. DS is getting a little twitchy as we are down to last to pieces of @MissConductUS recipe brownies but is trying to bear in mind that we have acquired a chocolate mountain over Christmas and also have a caterpillar cake to get through as it has now become a tradition for us to eat one over the Xmas holidays.

Deathraystare · 26/12/2020 18:49

Watched Alice's adventures and then Andre Rieu in concert, the got up, showered and finished off the salmon, blinis but not the creme fraiche.

Will have nibblies tonight and finish off the Christmas pud and may a few mincemeat tarts.

Squirrel26 · 26/12/2020 20:18

Watching All Creatures Great And Small.
Dog is unimpressed by the various dog/ donkey noises coming from the TV.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 26/12/2020 22:06

3/4ths of the way my Christmas jigsaw 🙂

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 26/12/2020 22:11

I have finished one sleeve of my sweater and will start the next one tomorrow. I have borrowed Dd's electric heater so it is quite cosy at my desk.

halfpasteleven · 26/12/2020 22:57

Contemplating another packet of crisps from the hunky dory multipack..
The quality street tub is going down well now also...

SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat · 26/12/2020 23:14

I kept falling asleep all day in the end. Just had a chat with DD and now having a cup of tea and a mince pie. DS fell asleep around 8pm. DD said she felt whoozy for 30 mins but now feels slightly whoozy.

Had turkey curry, rice and naan bread for dinner, from leftover Xmas turkey. Cat is helping with that. Trying to plan clearing old house, ideally need to do it by 4th as that's when school covid testing starts in theory and if we get a positive then no house sale will be happening for 2 weeks.

Champagneforeveryone · 26/12/2020 23:22

We walked DDogs this morning, came back and showered then had lunch. The rest of the day has been spent sitting on the sofa and eating. I'm not a natural sofa sitter and I feel quite out of sorts as a result.

Weather is rather blowy outside. We've just watched Dunkirk as a family which was nice.
