I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

Wow, I go out to do a few errands and the thread takes off. Perhaps I should step away from the computer more often. Smile

The wreath from the church is lovely and very reasonable at $20, and I got to see some people in person who I've only seen on Zoom since March. The DC took the rowing machine back to their rowing clubhouse, so the living room is now open for decorating. I'll get DH to get the Christmas tree down from the attic and assemble it this afternoon.

I'm having some really good French bread from the supermarket with just a bit of butter as a mid morning snack.

I had pork and apple sausages and purple sprouting brocolli for lunch and am about to have another tea and mince pie - its important to balance my diet and I had a mince pie before the meal. Taken some antibiotics and feel better than yesterday.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 05/12/2020 15:29

Today’s plan.

Empty garage to put cars in.
Check snowblower starts.
Locate snow shovels, winter gloves and hats, sand, ice melt.
Bring in wood for the stove.

You can possibly guess where I live...

Wisconsin?

DH picked up our snowblower from the shop this morning. We get it serviced every year.

Still waiting in line for kitchen use, so I read up on UÄŸur Åžahin.
DH has finished, now DD is hungry ....

silkiecat · 05/12/2020 15:46

DS just came and hovered looking like he wanted something and wanting me to guess what.

I said DS do you want chocolate cheesecake?

He said um-hum um-hum and started smiling from ear to ear and jumping up and down. He's now eating it.

Nydj · 05/12/2020 16:16

@ZZTopGuitarSolo - Canada?

silkiecat · 05/12/2020 16:30

Siberia?

HelenaJustina · 05/12/2020 17:00

Having got to the shops at 8.10am this morning (to avoid crowds, this worked btw it was marvellously calm and quiet) today has felt very long. I need to finish the hoovering, iron, have a nice bath (maybe with g&t) and start my Christmas card writing.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/12/2020 17:21

Hah, been to the kitchen, made dough for coconnut and hazelnut biscuits. The dough is now cooling to be baked tomorrow.

GigantosaurusRex · 05/12/2020 18:02

Have run out of both bread and butter so had to have mince pies for breakfast, it hasn't gotten any better as the day has gone on! No snow here (Wales) but its freezing and I've got the heating on. All the fairy lights are on so it feels really cosy and I will be pouring some baileys soon!

silkiecat · 05/12/2020 18:07

DS has declared that as he has to isolate he may as well start his winter hibernation now.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/12/2020 18:09

Hibernation is underrated! Does he have a nice cave with food to retire to? What about his silkies?

sueelleker · 05/12/2020 18:15

@soddingkitten

I found out this morning that the place I normally get a delicious stuffed duck from for Christmas lunch has already sold out with pre-orders. I’ve been looking at the Sainsburys site and all the small turkey crowns are sold out already. I have just been debating with DH mocking up our own Frankenstein’s 3 bird roast with whatever we can lay our hands on just before Christmas, buying our own duck breasts, posh stuffing, , chicken fillets and turkey crown. If there was ever a year to go experimental, this is the one as we have no guests and can revert to ready meals or fish fingers and chips if we misjudge stock levels.
Both Aldi and Lidl are selling three bird roasts.

Have been marking entrance papers all day. Playing spot the tutored to death kids. They weave in 'emerald eyes' whenever they can and use lists of overblown language that they don't understand. Now having a gin and tonic and wondering when my teeth will stop crumbling (another quarter gone today).

Squirrel26 · 05/12/2020 18:43

I have hoovered and cleaned the kitchen and put batteries in various sets of fairy lights. Now I am watching a program about archaeology in the Amazon.

Thank you Sue!

myfatiguehastiredness · 05/12/2020 19:04

@Squirrel26 Me to regarding archeology in the Amazon. Am now completely zombified and unable to think.

silkiecat · 05/12/2020 19:13

Prok I asked DS and he said he doesn't have a cabe but his rabbit can make one very quickly and him, rabbit and the silkies are all hibernating together and wherever there is rabbit there is food.

DH has had a nap and is now making aligot. I've just looked up new rules for chicken keepers which say must keep birds inside or away from wild birds.

silkiecat · 05/12/2020 19:13

cabe should be cave

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/12/2020 19:24

silkie So all well thought out, I can quiet down then.

DS (1,75m ) likes to sleep curled up in his cheap1,20m IKEA sofa (the metal grid one). He finds it cosy and cave like. (He does have a proper bed.)

Squirrel26 · 05/12/2020 19:27

Never mind, @myfatiguehastiredness, there’s a program about the history of Glasgow on now, which sounds very soothing.

EggyPegg · 05/12/2020 20:14

I descaled the kettle today using lemon juice and water. It was reasona effective.

EggyPegg · 05/12/2020 20:15

Reasonably*

Champagneforeveryone · 05/12/2020 20:37

I have just wrapped my godsons birthday present and a selection of small gifts to mail to DM who will be in her own over Christmas.

We've also moved a heavy dresser and plugged an extension lead in behind it for the Christmas lights. Then we moved it back.
