Mini disco tree :)

I'll put on sister sledge lost in music and you can dance around it.

I think I have to go to bed now so that's my dull update for the day. Wednesday face masks can be hard work at times!

grassisjeweled · 10/12/2020 01:02

Had around 4cms of snow today

Made a pasta bake with rigatoni and macaroni - kids loved it and I used up two half packs of pasta

Discovered we had a huge tub of coffee hidden in the back of the cupboard which is always reassuring.

Managed to wear a white sweatshirt for 2 days and not get it marked

User258544 · 10/12/2020 01:05

I'm just going to bed, it has been a long day.

grassisjeweled · 10/12/2020 01:09

I want to the Italian deli to order a Yule log. Yule logs serve 15 people. It's only me, DH and the 2 kids for Christmas so obviously a Yule log is too big. So I ordered a cheesecake instead. But because I'm British and rubbish I led the deli counter staff to believe I somehow wanted a cheesecake yule log Confused (which plainly doesn't exist). Lots of : 'What??'. In order to avoid me saying 'oh hell no a yule log is just too big. I'll have a mini cheesecake instead'.

I must have come accross like Mr. Bean

mathanxiety · 10/12/2020 03:51

We used up the last butter incredibly quickly so I went to Costco and bought twice as much as I bought last time. DD3 walked to Trader Joes and brought back Oatmeal Cranberry Dunkers, which it turns out are highly addictive.

EggNogPegg · 10/12/2020 06:36

@BlackAmericanoNoSugar

I passed a tow-truck when I was on the school run this afternoon, the company name was Camel Tow. I think it's a pun too far .
That made me snort.

There's a road sweeper in my town that has the name 'Sweep Caroline' across the front. That always makes me smile.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 10/12/2020 07:50

Woke up to a F22 on the boiler 'no heating no hot water' so we have to top up.
And tomorrow our LL comes and installs smoke detectors. We havn't seen him in years.

TheySeeHerRowling · 10/12/2020 08:28

I'm getting the flu jab later

Love Sweep Caroline but agree Camel Tow is a wee bit much (if amusing) Round here we have a handyman van belonging to Dadd & Son

silkiecat · 10/12/2020 09:53

I think Sister Sledge would go really well with the baby Christmas tree thanks Frownette We've already had DD singing and dancing round it, Jingle Bells with Mean Girl moves and I'm told I haven't lived as I had no idea who they were.

Nydj · 10/12/2020 09:58

I’m getting a flu jab later today as well @TheySeeHerRowling.

Thank you @Prokupatuscrakedatus, I have waited my entire life to win at something! My acceptance speech must thank my parents who gave me poor hearing and eyesight genes, my glasses and hearing aids and of course, the bloody Covid!

Spudlet · 10/12/2020 11:17

I dug out some of the plastic shoe covers they give out at swimming pools and put them over my trainers before I sat on the sofa to lace them up. This is revolutionary as it means I can sit in comfort to get ready without dropping mud everywhere and getting moaned at by DH (though given that I’m the main hooverer in this house I’m not sure what he was complaining about anyway).

Squirrel26 · 10/12/2020 11:17

I have a Christmas tree on the wall to keep it away from the attentions of the dog.

Not feeling very contentrate-y today. Unfortunately I have a lot to do.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 10/12/2020 13:09

Heating and hot water are back - which is a good thing as it's getting colder.

@Nydj Genetics is odd and so arbitrary!
DD last night asked me why I had eqipped her and her DB with autism and ADHD - it surely wasn't intentional - up to their diagnosis I considered myself to be NT - if an annoying and not very likeable one. Smile

Nydj · 10/12/2020 13:17

@Prokupatuscrakedatus, you come across as very likeable and not at all annoying here Smile.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 10/12/2020 13:24

Nydj That's lovely of you to say - but you all get me filtered and matured Grin

EggNogPegg · 10/12/2020 14:46

I'm just back from the dentist, having had a check up. The slightly tender tooth is not infected, my gums are improving and there's nothing further to report. Successful appointment.

DH is going to get DS2 from school and then I need to go and collect DS2s new necker from one of the Beaver leaders (that phrase always makes DH chortle) as he's being invested via Zoom tomorrow.

DS1 had a more relaxed approach to home schooling today. I had a slightly frazzled email from DH as he was slammed with work and was feeling guilty for not giving DS1 enough schooling/attention. I told him to relax and emailed him with some less structured suggestions. Both were content when I got home at 1pm.

HelenaJustina · 10/12/2020 16:39

Exciting news re a Christmas raffle win today but definitely not in the spirit of the thread, so instead I offer the fact that after swim lessons and swim club drop offs and pick ups, I still have to do the food shop.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 10/12/2020 16:42

I have done 2 loads of laundry - 40 + 60°.
Perhaps I will make more christmas biscuits - if I feel that way.

TheySeeHerRowling · 10/12/2020 16:58

After taking dd2 into town on Saturday to 'choose presents for her friends' (ie get some ideas for bits and pieces for dd2 Grin), I snuck back this afternoon to find EVERY SINGLE THING she liked was GONE

Shock
Champagneforeveryone · 10/12/2020 17:09

I'm new to raw feeding DDogs, our first big order arrived today.

There is meat everywhere , it seems I lack a grasp of basic arithmetic and any concept of how big my freezer actually is. There will be a number of odd combinations of meals over the next few days as I've had to sacrifice all the human food in the freezer.

Spudlet · 10/12/2020 17:14

DS had his first school play date today. As it’s 2020, this involved me wearing thermal underwear but that’s fine by me, if it means DS is making a friend!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 10/12/2020 17:30

I completely misread that Champagneforeveryone and thought that you were sacrificing humans. Grin

EggNogPegg · 10/12/2020 17:59

The thread would have taken a dark turn had that been the case @BlackAmericanoNoSugar.

I am back from running my errands all over town. I am now in possession of DS2s necker (which I have already folded to a very specific standard) and badges, and I have hidden them away ready for the big investiture tomorrow. Had a text message from DS1s drum teacher confirming that DS2 wants to start piano in the new year following his taster session on Saturday. He does. I don't want to think how much a term we are now giving him in music fees. They can start a band and pay us back when they're rich and famous a Gallagher brother reunion would probably be more successful

SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat · 10/12/2020 18:28

DS had a so laid back approach to home learning today it was horizontal Grin I think I got 5 mins science out of him all day.

I did manage to discuss GCSE options with him, he decided he only wanted to do 1 option (you have to choose 4) the issue is they all involve doing some work so are unsuitable.

DS and I have managed to persuade DH to buy a polar bear cake from Coop. He said he would only buy one at the weekend as its £7 and he thinks its overpriced. We pointed out we were having a long weekend and said we could have polar bear cake starter main and dessert so he would actually save money.

SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat · 10/12/2020 18:37

Polar bear cake Grin
