I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

Wrote out some Christmas cards this morning. The cat is sleeping beside me.
It's a cold here today, and even though I have a thermal vest top under my jumper , I've just put on a cardi. Might make some mince pies this afternoon , and need to finish off my Asda delivery for tomorrow.

Squirrel26 · 08/12/2020 13:03

Just banged my shin on the desk.
Waiting for a meeting to start. I think I’m going to find it annoying.

Nydj · 08/12/2020 13:09

Things have calmed down at work now and if I’m honest, it is a bit boring. Surely there must be a happy medium between crazy busy and boredom levels of inactivity? I’d like to find it if it exists.

MissConductUS · 08/12/2020 13:23

Yesterday was a day of dull disappointments. The furnace company did not send the correct part so the HVAC bloke was unable to complete the repair. He did come by to clean the burner again at no charge to minimize the shutting down problem.

I finally got the delivery of my trendy running jacket, gloves and tracksuit bottoms. They were 9 days in transit from Massachusetts to New York. The jacket and gloves are too small, so I'm posting them back this morning for a refund.

DD has emerged for breakfast then retreated back to her room, DS is still asleep despite his alarm having gone off twice.

I'm having a rare wfh day today. Tuna and sweetcorn sounds delicious TheySeeHerRowling.

silkiecat Fair play to you - I admire anyone who can actually get any home schooling done with their teens

MissConductUS I hate not being able to try anything on before buying these days - almost everything I order ends up fitting really badly

In related boring news this afternoon - I bent to put on my boots and my trousers ripped across the backside Shock They fit exactly the same as when I got them 2 years ago in the Boden sale, so I don't know why that happened - sure Boden used to be better quality

forgetthehousework · 08/12/2020 15:23

I've just posted on the previous thread and then found this new one, so I will say again ... we now have a new boiler and central heating and are warm! The main fire in the living room has been condemned as unsafe and will need to be replaced but that will have to wait until the new year.
I have put up the Christmas decorations to celebrate.

We are having sausage, egg and chips for tea.

TenCornMaidens · 08/12/2020 15:39

Am presently avoiding thinking about some very difficult (as in emotionally taxing) forms I need to fill out.

Also waiting for a courier to pick up a parcel.

We are having salmon and rice for dinner. It is VERY foggy here.

Spudlet · 08/12/2020 16:06

No reports of the woods mugger being caught yet, but I did a short but sweet run home Ayer dropping DS off - DH had the day off to use up his annual leave so he drove us all down there then I ran home. It was -4C and absolutely stunningly beautiful, with the trees all rimed with white and the sun shining. It took me at least ten minutes longer than it would have done on a dull day because I just had to keep stopping for pictures! Also, I have a couple of running buddy offers after I posted on a local running Facebook page so that’s also good. I will not be stopped by some thieving scrote!

Then we cleared out DS’s old baby toys to make space for the inevitable festive and birthday onslaught of stuff (he was 13 days late and was therefore born on the 27th, and only has himself to blame, frankly) and wrapped all the parcels that needed posting. We’ve even printed the labels and paid for the postage so I just need to drop them off at the post office tomorrow.

Now listening to accordion swing music with the fore crackling away.

Just back on the new thread, my life has been so dull and unexciting I couldn'y think of any un exciting news to add. The days are just running into extensions of yesterday.

@Spudlet so glad you had a great run today, a lovely photo! i never take my phone and often see a something htat would make a great picture, i just bore my family when i get in instead, good on you for finding some potential running buddies!

I havent had one mince pie yet, am awful at pastry making so dont want to waste the last couple of pots of mincemeat!

I did make Mary Berrys cheese and olive scone bake for tea tonight, I must say i was pleased taking it out the oven earlier for a pastry novice like me.

Therainisback · 08/12/2020 17:29

Had a day off today. Spent it deep cleaning before the Christmas decs go up. My knees hurt now. DH has gone for a run. I can't be bothered. Drinking tea and eating a biscuit instead (this is why my scales don't work)

EggyPegg · 08/12/2020 17:37

DS2 as anticipated does not need glasses. He is disappointed.

Whilst I was at the optician, DH sent me a picture of a Dell box. He bought me a laptop! Mine is a £100 Lenovo one that doesn't have enought internal memory for standard updates. So is basically useless. He told me that I need a decent one, so he had one built. It is a thing of beauty.

I've signed in with Microsoft account and am convinced there is sorcery afoot as my wallpaper has transferred. I thought wallpaper was saved locally to the PC.

My courier hasn't showed up. Confused

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/12/2020 18:22

Fitting cat for a fitting box Smile

I am just back from work and will calmly inform you about my dislike for: construction sites, project managers, and everything else that has to do - even remotely - with buildings.
My head hurts and I am tired, so I will try to go to bed.

silkiecat · 08/12/2020 18:29

Thanks TheySeeHerRowling We were back to the normal mode of have a strop when asked to do any work this afternoon, DS is teen plus ASD and of course this afternoon's work he's already done before it was set without ever logging on. Wink

Electrician is rebooked for 18th at 8.30am, let plumber know as they are that day too but no time but should work still.

silkiecat · 08/12/2020 18:31

DD who is a teen that works by herself without nagging Shock asked for a python course so got her one.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/12/2020 20:13

I can't sleep... there is no housework to do, it is dark, cool-ish
silkie DC who want to learn sth - never stop them. One of my few parenting rules - the other is never wake a sleeping baby. Grin

UÄŸur Åžahin - I wonder how to correctly pronounce his first name? My bilingual workmate is off sick with a bad back, so I have to wonder on my own.

silkiecat · 08/12/2020 20:20

Someone made a video just for you Prok on how to pronounce that name:

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/12/2020 20:44

silkie Thank you! (I didn' think of youtube.)
It's the 'ÄŸ' I always struggle with. And with names, you never know, there is so much tradition in names. I remember my English lessons at school and having to pronounce names - there was always a 50:50 chance of getting it wrong.

MissConductUS · 08/12/2020 20:50

Eggy that is a classic cat-in-box photo. The cat looks bored too, which is perfect.

Dcat (the tawny one) jumped on my lap for a visit and gave me a head bump during a Zoom call earlier. No one seemed to mind.

I have another Zoom call in 12 minutes to interview a job candidate. Someone internally is applying for the same job who I really don't care for, so let's hope the other guy aces it.

I have another thread on here regarding my new contact lenses, where it transpires I am likely to need reading glasses. I am furious - DH thinks it's hilarious Hmm

soddingkitten · 08/12/2020 21:29

DH observed this evening that the Christmas tree is basically one enormous cat toy. Yes, the fun has begun. 🙄 It reminds me of the toddler years, as we have to keep rehanging the baubles that are scattered on the floor. I do enjoy it when he rings the bells, mind. He is almost adorable then.

As noted on the old thread Sodding continues to disgrace himself by letting himself in and out of lovely neighbour’s home and eating Shyboy’s food. 😳

dinodiva · 08/12/2020 21:52

Yesterday I thought I might have to go and get a covid test because I couldn’t smell. However, I have a bad cold and it turns out that my Olbas oil had an expiry date of 2011 which explained why I couldn’t smell it.

I went to smell my Christmas cake to check, and it smelled delicious.

TenCornMaidens · 08/12/2020 22:02

@dinodiva that is the content I am here for. Much obliged.

HelenaJustina · 08/12/2020 22:31

I woke up at 4.25am, went back to sleep, woke up at 5.30am and got up to carry on writing Christmas cards. Back on task now but not sure how much sense these last few are making!
