I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

Prok DS also loves sleeping on sofas and refuses a bed.

I've just had aligot and now going to have chocolate cheesecake to check I don't like it, its important research.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/12/2020 22:13

Cheesecake investigation is very important, too - please document your findings!

MissConductUS · 05/12/2020 22:27

I had a bit of a nap and then worked on the tree. It's about 80% decorated at this point. It's already passed cat inspection.

The plate on the wall behind the tree shows Dr. Samuel Johnson holding forth at the Cheshire Cheese Tavern, a souvenir of DH's time in London.

I do like chocolate cheesecake a lot. However, more research is needed to check this wasn't an outlier observation.

halfpasteleven · 05/12/2020 22:33

Loving the new thread @MissConductUS and your tree - I really like the beads and how they fall on each layer..

I tend to leave the tree decorating to my DP and DS- I found cleaning the en suite and bedroom more soothing last Sunday with a toddler "helping" me so I'm in awe of your tree!

I hope my sentence about the layers makes sense - it's been a long day and I fear my verbal skills are not up to much tonight.

Osquito · 05/12/2020 22:38

@MindTheMinotaur Yes, I knew. But whenever I’ve eaten them with people they didn’t know, so I’m not sure how I found out in the first place...

Trumpetpants · 05/12/2020 22:57

The dog has eaten a choc decoration including foil from high up on the tree! And after refusing to go out due to rain, just lay down on the floor and growled if pulled, cajoled or otherwise has done 2 wees in the house, one up my model Santa and one on the pile of shoes that the elf had tied together...

Nydj · 05/12/2020 23:02

I’ve had to google aligot and it looks amazing - perfect comfort food!

soddingkitten · 05/12/2020 23:03

DH shut Sodding out of the living room because he was chewing on the new LED fairy lights. 🙄 He hasn’t tried to climb the tree (yet), so small mercies.

MissConductUS · 05/12/2020 23:10

@halfpasteleven - Thank you. I'm happy to do the new thread starting and it's always fun to put up the tree. I understand what you mean about the layers. I try to drape the beads and then keep a consistent distance between them as I loop them around the tree.

@Trumpetpants Your dog sounds a bit out of sorts. I seem to recall that chocolate is not good for dogs, so worth keeping an eye on. Thanks for sharing your news. Smile

Sodding
That reminds me how our Sev killed the tree lights. Grin

soddingkitten · 05/12/2020 23:33

They are fresh out of the box today and 10x better than our old lights. I’ll be so cross if he kills this set, as they have replaced 3 inferior mismatched sets.

mathanxiety · 06/12/2020 00:44

@ZZTopGuitarSolo - two doors down from me?

I probably should have warned everyone, based on my experience of searching for a small turkey at Thanksgiving, that small festive fowl are hard to find. All I could see in the frozen section was 22 pounders and over, but DD3 spotted something promising and after much effort we managed to extract possibly the last reasonable sized bird in the area. Small gatherings don't require huge turkeys.

mathanxiety · 06/12/2020 01:35

@MissConductUS, I am adding the Christmas tree beads to the toaster on my list of identical items we have.

MissConductUS · 06/12/2020 01:42

We had a lot of rain here today that finally stopped mid afternoon. I didn't realize that 30 miles away it was snow and that New England got hit with a major winter storm. I'm glad we collected DS from Boston last week.

Up early for no good reason.

Decorated the house yesterday, and the three trees we now have downstairs (madness but fun).

Off to an outdoor Christingle service this morning which I suspect will be cold and a bit miserable.

Husband doing red cooked pork in the slow-cooker later.

HelenaJustina · 06/12/2020 07:49

Up and about as we are back to actually going to Mass this week rather than live-streaming. Am delighted as it’s not the same online.

soddingkitten · 06/12/2020 07:52

We also use beads on our tree but my draping is not as neat and regular as MsConducts.

I just heard DS1 go in the bathroom, so the house will spring to life soon. The magpies are making a racket in the tree outside.

Squirrel26 · 06/12/2020 08:40

Let the dog out. Made coffee. Let the dog back in. Got back into bed. Tried to take a photo of the dog to send to Godson, but he’s refusing to pose.

Trailing1 · 06/12/2020 08:44

Today I was awoken by the nearly three year old sitting on her big sister's head and shouting "SMELL MMYYYYYY FAAARRTT" followed by hysterical laughing. It was 6.30 am, we have been awake since and I am dying of exhaustion.

FortunesFave · 06/12/2020 08:46

I heard a bang and realised a bird must have gone into the window. Went out to check and saw my Frenchie with a pigeon in her mouth.

halfpasteleven · 06/12/2020 08:57

DD woke at 4.30 for a bottle and took a while to settle back to sleep. DP has gotten up with her now so I can have a lie in.. it's lovely .. the silence and a bed to myself.. haven't done this in ages

Taswama · 06/12/2020 09:07

I forgot to have a chocolate from my advent calendar yesterday (its in my bedroom and I save it until the evening), so will have two this evening.

Osquito · 06/12/2020 10:00

Ate some “birthday cake” flavoured... erm, cake for breakfast that DS and I had made, and am currently sat on floor in front of bedroom radiator drinking ginger tea and looking out the window. DS downstairs playing a very loud game on his Fire and his dad is out washing the car etc.

EggyPegg · 06/12/2020 10:03

Good Sunday morning all.

Lazy start here. DC are on screens and I'm drinking tea and reading my Kindle. I have also been looking at keyboards on FB Marketplace as DS2 had his first piano lesson yesterday. He loved it and is keen to continue. I would like to get him an inexpensive one that doesn't have a million buttons for additional effects, but am not having much luck so far.

There is a Christmas Scarecrow Trail on near me this weekend, so I will take DS2 out to that later as he enjoys a Scarecrow Trail.
