If he likes it, please post a picture; I can just visualise a Siamese head sticking out of the end.

Back from work and caught up with you all.

Hol Ich halte die Daumen (I keep my fingers crossed)

Happy Birthday @Champagneforeveryone! CakeWineFlowers

Sodding, ours have electrically heated cat beds. We have no radiators, unfortunately. They warm up when the feline overlord cat lies down in them to just the right temperature for them. They are heavily used. They make excellent Christmas presents.

Happy birthday Champagneforeveryone

DH has gone to collect the items I ordered for the chickens from PetsatHome and Dunelm, there was some muttering.

Just had a snack before he left mainly as I noticed DS did not eat any lunch at school when I checked his lunch card but he never said anything. We are having jackets when DH is back. I'm having smoked salmon on mine which DH says is me being fancy.

HelenaJustina · 14/12/2020 20:35

Happy Birthday @Champagneforeveryone hope you’ve had a lovely day.
@TheySeeHerRowling very much in the spirit of the thread!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 14/12/2020 20:37

Happy birthday Champagne, enjoy your 24 doughnuts. Wink

SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat · 14/12/2020 20:43

DS just came back - Petsathome was closed, he got the things from Dunelm - 2 washing up bowls and 2 towels for the chickens and some bird fabric but dunelm had swapped the chicken's penguin towels for reindeer towels. Hopefully they won't mind too much.

I said I wonder if coop sells baby shampoo as can use that for chickens so DH said DD (she was just off to coop) can you get baby shampoo. DD was Xmas Shock we don't have a baby. DH, its for the chickens. DD Xmas Shock Xmas Confused

Happy birthday @Champagneforeveryone!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/12/2020 21:10

Happy birthday from me, too!!!

Family has sent pictures of their lighted trees. I wanted to put ours up, too. But no - DCs insist on the morning of the 24th (as always).

Nydj · 14/12/2020 21:12

Happy Birthday @Champagneforeveryone.

I hope the silkie chickens enjoy their bath.

EmilyInParis · 14/12/2020 21:32

I've just had a food shop and had forgotten to get 3 things that will be needed in the morning. Sigh.

MissConductUS · 14/12/2020 21:39

We had a rather pretty sunset last night.

Had a jacket potato with smoked salmon and cheesecake. DH says the cat was after the cheesecake, she howled at him when he opened it.

SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat · 14/12/2020 22:29

I told DS I have bought the silkies a perch and he was giggling a lot saying they enjoy being up high and looking down on people. He's sneezing a bit atm.

EggNogPegg · 14/12/2020 22:34

Just popping by to share a photo of a very relaxed EggyCat2.

SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat · 14/12/2020 22:39

Eggycat2 looks very comfortable and snuggly though maybe needs a footstool for Christmas Xmas Grin

Silkiecat has been licking cheesecake from DH's fingers. I've just had a second piece. Xmas Blush

SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat · 14/12/2020 22:44

I just asked DS what time the silkies wake up at the moment. 7.30am. He's not seen them all day, first day ever he's not been out there several times a day, will see if he gets them up tomorrow.

EggNogPegg · 14/12/2020 23:13

Hope your DS goes back out to his beloved silkies tomorrow @SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat. Sounds like it was a shock for him to find Derek.

Holothane · 14/12/2020 23:39

Very low worried sick now that hospital will tell me wrong hospital for Friday it cost £90 today for taxis the driver was a diamond he waited for me and drove me to the other hospital, I know it’s not big in the scale of things, I phoned the elective surgery unit I’m on there lists for Friday at what used to be called the women’s hospital in Solihull, will get phone call on Wednesday or Thursday but still worried I’ll be at wrong places

SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat · 15/12/2020 08:28

Thanks EggNog DS was very late getting up which is unlike him and thought he wasn't doing chickens but DH kept delaying and so I said DS do you want DH to do the silkies. He said its OK then he went out and came back to chat to me about them.

He was doing impressions of them and seemed fine - it seems to be the new run and house he's nervous about. He was complaining that DH hadn't set up the dust in the dustbath correctly and it was mainly on one side and the chickens needed to walk round it to get to food so he said DH had also put it in the wrong place. I asked if he moved it and he said do you think I am strong enough to move a dustbath, I wasn't even strong enough to open the lock on the main door so I had to go in via the backdoor and climb over the dustbath and food bowls. He also said he wasn't sure he had done their ladder correctly and I asked if they had got down and he said yes so I said it must be correct then. He said the brown chicken went down fast, the white one really slowly so he worried it was his fault.

Told DH and he went out to check and all was set up fine.

Hol Hope you can get hospitals sorted.

Champagneforeveryone · 15/12/2020 09:29

I was driving home from work when suddenly the music got rather quiet. It transpires my iPhone has taken it upon itself to monitor my listening habits and turn itself down "to protect my hearing". It was almost like having DH sat next to me pursing his lips and hovering near the volume dial.

In other news I have an opticians appointment at midday where I will likely be told I need reading glasses. The scandal being that I will only need them as my seeing prescription is now so strong it's distorting my looking vision. I always thought being a grown up would be so glamorous Hmm

Frownette · 15/12/2020 09:38

Haha @Champagneforeveryone love the idea that your equipment took it upon itself to impose limitations! I always get told I'm too quiet myself. I'm not sure what anyone expects me to do, sit on a car rooftop with stereo on my shoulder blasting out.

Same with opticians, have appointment booked this week. It'll be a necessary ordeal. Good luck with yours!

Squirrel26 · 15/12/2020 11:57

The window cleaner has charged me. The window cleaner is a bit flaky (previous reasons for not coming when he said he would include ‘it gets very hot by 2pm and sometimes I forget to drink water so I get a headache.’) so I’m not really sure quite when he last cleaned the windows or what occasion he might be charging for.

TrickyD · 15/12/2020 13:36

Plans to make (more) mince pies were thwarted by discovery that I had used all the Trex to make the last lot. Both Tesco and Asda say on their website that they sell it, so DH cycled off to get me some. None in the shops, including the local ones, nor any Cookeen. Plenty of lard, no good for veggies. He came back with something called 'Baking Block' and some 'Crisp and Dry'.

Where has all the Trex gone? I think it makes excellent pastry when some is used along with butter.

I made Rocky Road instead.

Holothane · 15/12/2020 13:54
