@TrickyD

Nydj, yes I am the proud owner of a Kenwood KMix, courtesy of Amazon Lightning deals. Whipping the aquafaba was its first chance to show its paces. Even in the mixer it took a long time, at first I thought it would never work. I can see how you would be bored doing it with a hand mixer.
At least this confirms that it wasn’t just me being a bit useless and that it really does take a while to fluff up properly, thank you.
SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat · 14/12/2020 12:00

Both silkies seem ok this morning in new run.

Cat is definitely OK as she's cross with DH for napping again.

Ordered some chicken woodchip. Set up a call with ed psych for DS. Been doing accounts.

SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat · 14/12/2020 12:30

Electrician messaged DH to say the light I bought doesn't fit, does he have permission to buy and fit different one. DH said fine but replied an hour late due to his 1.5 hour nap. Hope still OK. Cat is not impressed with DH but all will be forgiven once he goes downstairs to see her. She just gets seperation grumpiness from DH and no-one else is good enough unless she is really desperate. DH was the one who didn't want a cat but now is besotted.

Taswama · 14/12/2020 13:23

Waitrose sell aqua faba liquid in a carton.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 14/12/2020 14:22

I made waldorf salad as part of lunch. I've just handed a bowl of it to DS who, of course, said "I'm not eating that". So I said "Try one spoonful anyway" and walked off. He ate the whole bowlful. Grin

Holothane · 14/12/2020 14:53

Frownette · 14/12/2020 14:59

I managed to do a COVID swap test today - I took about a trillion wooden sticks to practice on and surprisingly enough as long as I managed to get that done I could get at my tonsils.

Then did the nose bit and promptly managed to sneeze all over it. Think that will be ok? Pure coffee, probably.

sueelleker · 14/12/2020 15:00

@Spudlet

Just back from the supermarket, although I didn’t get chickpeas. Did get several types of bean though. And some pants for DH, and some spare mittens for DS as he only has one pair and I’m just waiting for them to go into school never to be seen again...

Managed to get DS to write his Christmas cards through outright bribery with a lebkuchen from Aldi. Just hoping I haven’t forgotten anyone!

I suppose he'd be highly offended if you fastened them on a string through his coat sleeves?
Frownette · 14/12/2020 15:02

I mean I had to have the sticks to hold my tongue down to get at my tonsils otherwise I would have chocked.

Tongue is probably sulking right now, like the time when I bit it.

TenCornMaidens · 14/12/2020 15:07

I'm having a cup of tea and a sit down. I have managed a couple of loads of washing today, a man has fixed a couple of windows, someone is coming over to talk about the kitchen.

I also forgot to edit my supermarket order and got an absolutely MASSIVE delivery earlier and had to arrange to give away a fair few bags worth as we don't have room in the fridge and they won't accept returns. I am an idiot (actually suspect I have ADHD) but thankfully not a financial disaster for us.

SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat · 14/12/2020 15:20

I've having a hot milk. DS is just back from school but says its not really him. Xmas Wink

DD has just come back too, I can tell by the very not gentle opening of doors.

soddingkitten · 14/12/2020 15:43

I am sitting in the car outside of the orthodontist whilst DS has his braces adjusted. It’s his first day out of isolation after his year was sent home to isolate so he was wildly excited about going in the car. The battery has run down from the car sitting idle so we’ll have to take it for a run up and down the dual carriageway afterwards. And that, my friends, is what 2020 has brought us to: the high point of one’s week being a drive up and down the local dual carriageway. 🤪

SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat · 14/12/2020 15:51

DH is just putting the dustbath I bought into the chicken run. I've just been chatting with DS. He says he is really looking forward to seeing chickens rolling around in dust.

Squirrel26 · 14/12/2020 15:53

It’s not really DS who came back from school, @SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat, or school is ‘not really him’ as in ‘these earrings aren’t really me.’

SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat · 14/12/2020 15:58

It's not really DS that came back from school but the person is doing a very good impression of DS, they get very excited about silkie chickens and moan about school.

Spudlet · 14/12/2020 16:15

@sueelleker I think he’d probably manage to throttle himself and then still lose his mittens, tbh Grin

SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat · 14/12/2020 16:16

The silkies new house has a ladder, they just worked out how to use it today and DH said they were going up and down the ladder a lot. DS still hasn't been to see them but was talking happily about them to me.

TheySeeHerRowling · 14/12/2020 16:17

Asda had pine nuts today

But I don't want to make pesto this week

MissConductUS · 14/12/2020 16:22

We finally have a plan for Christmas dinner. DH will stop at the warehouse club this week and pick up a large (6-8 pound) roasting chicken. DD won't eat turkey but will eat roast chicken. It makes no sense to me either. I asked him to go tonight in case lots of other people have the same idea. We'll just throw it into the big freezer in the garage until the 23rd.

So that will be the meat and he'll make holiday mashed potatoes (with butter, cream cheese and sour cream) and some sort of vegetable.

We had another carpenter come round to do a quote this afternoon. He and I arrived at my house at the same time which was lucky.

Our boiler is dripping water from the base, so DH called a plumber out today. He advised that Worcester offer excellent after care at a much more reasonable rate than him. DH noticed that his van advertised that he did all home improvements, so got him to have a quick look at the proposed extension and sent him away with some plans to give us a quote as he liked him.

DH opened the door earlier and was handed a bag for life full of food with a cheery 'food delivery'. He was perplexed. The note inside tells us that it is from our local church. This is a lovely, but unnecessary gesture so we are going to donate the entire bag to our local food bank.

Frownette · 14/12/2020 17:21

Blimey, COVID people are keen here. Only received kit this afternoon and did the test and posted back I think within 2 hours.

Just received email asking where it was. I believe they are unfamiliar with royal mail.

SilkiesnowchicksandXmastreecat · 14/12/2020 17:30

Especially royal mail Christmas special service Xmas Smile

Silkies are night-night in their new house snuggled together. DS and DH are napping.

Nydj · 14/12/2020 17:34

I have stir fried veggies to have with leftover rice from last night’s dinner. While I was in the kitchen, I decided to make the cauliflower curry for tomorrow’s dinner. This means I just have to make then chapattis for dinner tomorrow. I used the pull chopper to cut the cauliflower into teeny tiny bits (including leaves and the big stalk in the middle) as DS is very fussy about veggies that are any bigger, especially cauliflower and cabbage. The sprouts that I got for DH as he is a big fan are still in the fridge, untouched, and glare at me every time I open the fridge.

Champagneforeveryone · 14/12/2020 17:57

I have never tried hummus Confused

It's my birthday today so I have had to buy donuts to take to work tonight. DH who has never worked in an environment like I do, is perplexed by the idea of supplying ones own birthday treats. I get the impression he thinks I may have made it up, and purchased 24 iced ring donuts for my own personal consumption Grin

I bought a Christmas reed diffuser as well, the smell is very festive.

I have been gifted an orchid in a tall glass vase, some Bloom and Wild dried flowers and I'm hopeful DM has also ordered Bloom and Wild flowers for me. My 17yo self would be horrified by how happy that makes me GrinGrin

soddingkitten · 14/12/2020 18:09

DS and I went to Pets at Home to buy cat litter to tide us over the Christmas break. We got carried away and came home with a toasty cat bed for Sodding. DS1 and DS2 built it with great enthusiasm, only to discover it doesn’t fit over the kitchen radiator where Sodding sleeps at night. 🤦‍♀️ DS2 is currently claiming it only fits on his bedroom radiator. 🤔 I will investigate later. There are other shared spaces where it should fit.
