But everyone else has - what should I do?

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 28/11/2020 16:45

Contact your place of work I suppose

dementedpixie · 28/11/2020 16:45

Speak to your employer

Kez200 · 28/11/2020 17:00

Ask Employer. Maybe it will clear for Monday?

Springcatkin · 28/11/2020 17:03

Just so annoying that everyone has been paid; cannot contact employer till Monday so stuffed over the weekend. Just hope its sorted soon before all my direct debits start to go thro at the beginning of the month

If you're going to go into an unauthorised overdraft, contact your bank explain and ask for an emergency overdraft. That should ease your worry until you can find out what's going on.

listsandbudgets · 28/11/2020 17:13

Yes to contacting your bank and explaining. They may also be able to tell you if the payment seems to be pending.

Otherwise, there's a good chance its a payroll error and your company will be able to sort it out on Monday

How long have you been working there? Sometimes, new starters find their first couple of weeks pay is rolled into the following months pay voice of bitter experience

topcat2014 · 28/11/2020 17:33

What date did you start? Can you text your line manager

ShalomToYouJackie · 28/11/2020 17:40

Is this your first month with this employer?

PleasantVille · 28/11/2020 17:42

Have you had your payslip 9

Springcatkin · 28/11/2020 18:00

Been there 3 years. Not has payslip either yet

It would be helpful if you gave a little more information, do you want people to tell you what to do about the fact you havent been paid (obviously all you can do is speak to your employer as soon as you can) or tell you what to do because you don't have any money and need to buy food or whatever?

Springcatkin · 28/11/2020 18:16

I guess it is what to do if they don't pay on Monday - is it Employment Tribunal or county court claim? This is clearly personal to me as they have paid everyone else so not willing to wait around for their excuses.

@Springcatkin

But everyone else has - what should I do?

When was your pay date?

HilaryBriss · 28/11/2020 18:18

I think it's a bit early to be talking about tribunals and county court claims!!

Perhaps it is just a mistake, they do happen you know. Speak to them on Monday and see what they say.

papaelf · 28/11/2020 18:19

This is clearly personal to me as they have paid everyone else so not willing to wait around for their excuses.

Why would it be personal? There is clearly a missing backstory if you think they are holding back your wages for that reason.

Why would they give excuses? Most employers would take straps to rectify the error.

Definitely a lot you haven't told us here.

HermioneWeasley · 28/11/2020 18:20

The employment tribunal backlog is over 12 months so you might want to start by asking your employer what’s happened

Ohalrightthen · 28/11/2020 18:21

There must be backstory here - is it a big company? Who does payroll? Surely you have a way to get hold of your boss out of hours, why don't you just call and say you haven't been paid and your DDs are going out, ask them to get in touch with payroll and do an emergency run.

this happened to my colleague once after she changed her name, payroll bounced her salary because it hadn't gone through properly - her manager wrote her a cheque for the month and claimed it back.

Unless there's huge backstory you're withholding, this is likely a system error, and if you let your employer know they will bend over backwards to fix it ASAP.

PotteringAlong · 28/11/2020 18:23

Why is it far more likely to be personal than a system error?! What do you know about your behaviour that we don’t?

Belle1983 · 28/11/2020 18:23

This happened to my partner last month.
Super stressful, but worked sorted it out (although it took a couple of days).
It was an honest mistake (not personal) although I was panicking as I couldn't cover his share of bills!

Hope it's sorted on Monday for you.

RubyFakeLips · 28/11/2020 18:23

Your attitude is a bit bizarre and you're jumping to conclusions.

Payroll errors happen all the time, your employer will most likely correct on Monday.

Do you not have a manager you can contact or can you send the email now so that this can be flagged first thing after the weekend?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 28/11/2020 18:26

It's odd that you would jump straight to how to tackle if they dont pay. I would just assume it's an error and that it would be sorted on Monday. They can make a Faster Payment into your bank it takes an hour.

Unless there is something in your mind which mean they have reason not to pay you?

potter5 · 28/11/2020 18:33

Bacs system is down! My colleagues son got an email from his company yesterday. Could be that.

missbipolar · 28/11/2020 18:37

There has to be some kind of backstory surely!?

PleasantVille · 28/11/2020 18:37

@Springcatkin

I guess it is what to do if they don't pay on Monday - is it Employment Tribunal or county court claim? This is clearly personal to me as they have paid everyone else so not willing to wait around for their excuses.
I'm assuming it must be a small employer as you've contacted everyone else, is the payroll actually done in house?

I agree with others, there must be a hell of a back story to jump straight to legal action on Monday morning

Kez200 · 28/11/2020 18:44

Blimey, that escalated quickly!

Monday is normal payday for most people so its possible yours is caught between banks (the others may be with same bank as the business). Although lack of payslip seems strange.

You cannot know that everyone else has been paid, just a few surely?

If there's a backstory then asking us without detail isnt much use!
