ADs trying to stay upright in a muddy park

Another thousand posts filled and we're ploughing on through another weekend of squelching through parks before we hit the Long Dark Teatime of the Soul.

The AD chat continues...

Second birth I liked the interventions in particular an epidural. First time was very stressful attempt at a water birth in a 'birthing centre' (in reality rushed back to main hospital). I don't think they have 'birthing centres' anymore sadly. You got 3 days after with nice meals at a big table.

rosettesforjill · 22/11/2020 20:35

Oh and the home birth was preferable - but only really because it was a lot shorter and didn't involve a stay on the wards afterwards.

Itshissister · 22/11/2020 20:36

What does ADs mean?

AcornAutumn · 22/11/2020 21:02

Mercy you mean the protests? Yes and I thank them.

AFAIK yesterday saw protests in Basildon, Bournemouth,
Liverpool and london.

Is it safe to assume MSM didn’t cover it?

MercyBooth · 22/11/2020 21:12

YY @AcornAutumn They were portrayed as anti maskers and yes maybe some of them were. But the vids i saw that have been uploaded to Twitter there were people wearing masks too.
There are many who are fine with masks ,social distancing, sanitizing but anti lockdown. You wont see this nuance in the MSM though.

MercyBooth · 22/11/2020 21:15

One of the protests in Basildon was on a housing estate. Anger is growing in working class communities because its one rule for them and another rule for others.

Sure is. That MP who tested positive and got on trains etc still has her 80k+ job.

We have one here. It's a building off the main hosp. Planned to have ds there, water birth, calming breathing, etc. I gave birth on fucking induction suite with nowt but 2 sodding paracetamol. I'm still bitter about it. They let me stay the night in the lonely birthing center room I should have been in Shock

Hope all goes well for you @110APiccadilly !

Bollss · 22/11/2020 21:24

*lovely not lonely Grin

AcornAutumn · 22/11/2020 21:24

In other news, I wasn’t well enough to top up chocolate supplies today. Meh.

MagdaS · 22/11/2020 21:35

Checking in.

I was induced with both of mine, the first at 33 weeks, the second one at 38 weeks after he had been threatening to arrive since 27 weeks but never quite making it into full blown labour. Both were fine, no epidural, just G&A and no forceps. I’d be induced again. Not that I will ever have another child!

Weneedmusicandtheatre · 22/11/2020 21:59

I ended up with forceps & episiotomy to evict my DC who got halfway down the birth canal and then decided to stop. Forceps were the thing I feared. I second the love of a spinal block. I got given one in theatre in case forceps didn’t work and they needed to crash section me. All the best for baby getting a wriggle on.

SirSamuelVimes · 22/11/2020 22:00

Checking in. Good luck with the birth 101! Went squelching around the local country house park yesterday, pretty busy. Going to accidentally meet up with another ad-friendly family there next weekend.

BogRollBOGOF · 22/11/2020 22:06

@Itshissister

What does ADs mean?
AD is anti dementor The dementors are creatures in Harry Potter who suck the soul and joy out of life. A lot like the "put milk in your cheese" posters on the corona board. Who not only followed the roolz but came up with their own extended versions and expected everyone else to follow. So, we are anti that. We follow the rules but we also question and more importantly support each other when they all become a bit too much.

(Nicked an explanation from a previous thread)

Needless to say I won't be putting DS's birthday candles into a potato in the name of sparing the cake from Coronavirus.

Put milk in your cheese? I thought it was put cheese in your coffee Grin

SirSamuelVimes · 22/11/2020 22:11

It was definitely cheese in your coffee!

RobinHobb · 22/11/2020 22:11

I invited a school mum over to my house for December to mulled wine and nibbles in the garden (with fire pit). Said might ask another couple...

She said no! Apparently she is too scared of getting the "virus". I am so so baffled by this: especially because her 13yo son recently had it. He came back from boarding school for half term, was 100% asymptomatic, but there was a case at his school in his class so they had him tested and he was positive. Then her husband, the dad got what looked like a cold (snotty nose x 3 days), isolated, tested positive and was back on his feet in 5 days and back at work (in his room).

I don't get it, she has no underlying conditions why the fear? She's seen it wasn't so bad! Why?

Anyway my DH is the same. I find presenting numbers and stats doesn't help people who have this fear but I'd love to know how to break through to them....

Probably a three word slogan.

Oh God, my DH is the same. Every weekend we have a row about it. If lockdown goes on much longer I'll be seriously heading to separation after 40 years of marriage.

Yes it was. I just recycled an old explanation.

The Crisps on a Bench Brigade should have gone into classics. Peak Lockdown hysteria

My DILs both had c sections when they explained it to me, who had given birth with gas and air three times I was extremely jealous.

It really does not matter how baby arrives once you hold them it is all forgotten in the mist of love..

MercyBooth · 22/11/2020 23:13

@AcornAutumn sorry to hear you are under the weather.

Over on the other board a poster who went on holiday with 4 households in the summer is telling ppl to sacrifice their family Christmas, Its this kind of one rule for me and one rule for them and the hypocrisy that gets peoples backs up and inflames the situation.

Im not having a go at people who went on holiday btw. Posters here who have been or want to arent telling other ppl what they should be doing. No hypocrites among us here Flowers

LivinLaVidaLoki · 23/11/2020 06:33

Was thinking last night about how bloody fed up I am of finding out what's happening through tabloid leaks and snippets.
Then everyone gets set against each other for a few days then we get some kind of confirmation days later.

Its like we are being kept in a constant state of alert and I have bloody well had it.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 23/11/2020 06:36

Also there is a poll over in the rona zone about would you see your family if you're allowed at Christmas.....

Few comments in "is lockdown over? I hadn't noticed as the hospital I work in is overrun with Covid patients, its exhausting"

I just want to scream "WILL YOU JUST FUCK OFF" at these people.
"Is lockdown over?" Aww bless, did you come up with that all by yourself, its so original.
