Life Changing Cleaning - Why Didn't I Know?

Wavingnotdowning · 20/11/2020 22:11

I can't believe I didn't know about rubber brooms before now! No word of a lie, it has changed my life - picks up dog fur from the stairs better than any hoover. My carpet is like new. This, after spending £s on Dyson. Anyone else got any brilliant cleaning tips?

Any recommendations for what to clean cast iron hob topper thingys? They're huge as well so I struggle to fit them in the sink to scrub

I used to take mine outside and power wash them!

Lulemma · 23/11/2020 19:09

To keep the chrome shiny on your cooker splashback and hood, clean as normal, dry then use a small amount of baby oil on a cloth over the top. All streaks and smears will disappear.

picklemewalnuts · 23/11/2020 19:16

@SOboredofcleaning yes, shampoo, handwash... a dab on fore fingers, touch to thumbs so there's just a trace on each. Rub the whole lens all over. Get a clean cloth or the hem of your T-shirt and polish it dry. They steam up much much less.

PainintheholeSIL · 23/11/2020 20:08

@Jedstre Truwash. Instead to god its unreal. And I don't work for them or anything😂😂 but for shiny surfaces, it's incredible

Possiblynotever · 23/11/2020 20:21

I have a major stain in my wc too!
It is inside, I have used Domestos and pure bleach but nothing!
Anyone knows how to get rid of it?

Ddot · 23/11/2020 20:42

Sounds like limescale,

Laurolii · 23/11/2020 20:51

This isn't a cleaning plea, but does anyone have any tips for getting scratches out of double glazed windows??

CCSS15 · 23/11/2020 20:59

@LuckyLuckyWoman

CCSS15 how much fabric conditioner to water? I have massive windows and a grimey shower cubicle :)
Just a splash! Be careful with the shower that you don't spill it as may be slippery and won't remove limescale (trust me I tried)

On that note any ideas to get rid of a scratch on ray bans 😢
BluebellsGreenbells · 23/11/2020 21:38

Use a 100% lime scale remover in the toilet

Use and leave overnight for a few days before attempting to clean

Possiblynotever · 23/11/2020 21:48

Limescale? Should I use the limescale remover that you use for irons?

Wavingnotdowning · 23/11/2020 21:56

@cactusisblooming

I have white bathroom floor tiles that have tiny grooves in them and they get absolutely filthy. The rubber broom is amazing for cleaning them; just thrown down a small amount of very soapy water and scrub it it with broom, then use a mop to remove excess water.
Definitely trying this in the morning

Very old house, cream bedroom carpet, gone dark around edge, I've tried all sorts. Looks awful. Help! I'm not a dirty girl so please don't judge

I put my pan supports through the dishwasher
Calmasasleepycat · 23/11/2020 22:29

@bigchanges1 I have a dark grey composite sink and give it a deep clean by using Ariel bio washing powder. Put a couple of tablespoons in the sink with the plug in and add very hot/boiling water up to about two inches. Leave it to soak for a while and then use a scouring pad and rinse.

SOboredofcleaning · 23/11/2020 22:49
