And im a bit 😏 about it. Just doesn’t hit spot for me.

Its a bit played down to what they have produced in the past.

I think this year we need cheerfully jolly ads not sentimental. We've had enough sadness and tears.

That Irish supermarket one is really sweet.

Love the Irish supermarket one, it reminded me of the John Lewis ad with the little boy who couldn’t wait to give his gifts out at Christmas!

@MrsWhites

Yes, I thought it felt much more like a John Lewis ad, than the actual John Lewis ad did.

I shed a tear - but that is because I seem to be programmed that way!

I think it could have referred to the pandemic more directly to make it feel more relevant.

Is this not this year's JL ad then?

I've had enough of covid this year as it is without it tainting Christmas adverts!

The Disney one got me. It was like a short of Coco.

My god, the singing was truly awful!

I appreciate the message and the fact that it doesn't push pointless, expensive stuff that no one really needs, but I thought the story was too confused for a short slot. It's great that they used different artists, but to me it feels like it doesn't hang together properly because of that and loses coherence.

Apparently they took inspiration from the Bodyform 'Womb Stories' ad, but that one works brilliantly whereas this one comes across as messy and disjointed for me.

I think it's lovely.

I liked the references to community and acts of kindness, and the mixed animation. I think anything sentimental will make me cry at the moment, it’s been that kind of year.

Another one here who was left underwhelmed. The McDonald's, Irish Supermarket and Amazon ones all gave me a warm fuzzy feeling inside which has been sorely needed after the year we've had.

My biggest problem with the John Lewis one is all I could see was merchandising opportunities. I knew they would be selling the umbrella without even looking.

Rubbish.....not Christmassy enough and gives me zero inspiration to buy anything from JL.

I think if they had gone all out big budget Elton John again everyone would have moaned.
I quite like it and they are raising money for two great charities. Not wild about the tune though.

Me too, I usually hate the JL Christmas advert.
I love the Amazon and SuperValue ones.

i have rewatched the John Lewis one and they pass the love from person/animal to person/animal.
so, yup, it's nice.

I didn’t like the Amazon one much.

I'm unimpressed with it this year, but I can say I've cried at a carrot from Aldi's Grin
McDonald's is the clear winner for me this year!
