And im a bit 😏 about it. Just doesn’t hit spot for me.

Its a bit played down to what they have produced in the past.

It lovely, i adore that hedgehog

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 13/11/2020 08:03

meh.

I am a notorious sentimental cryer. Didn't touch me at all.

dun1urkin · 13/11/2020 08:03

I’m also a bit disappointed. The snowman one is still my favourite, although I did very much enjoy the boxer dog on the trampoline.
I did notice that Gary Oldman’s Dracula hairdo was inspiration for the boy with the red hair. Nice touch!!

By far the worst one they have done

Magpiesalute · 13/11/2020 08:03

The hedgehog is cute but otherwise I was very meh about it. Not moved at all. I’m disappointed.

lollipoprainbow · 13/11/2020 08:04

@Judashascomeintosomemoney I welled up too, I really like it didn't feel as scmaltzy as most years.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 13/11/2020 08:07

Have just watched McDonalds advert after reading this thread and had a little cry.

So sweet...

It’s reported that they used 9 different artists to support the creative sector that has been hit hard by the pandemic. It’s reflecting this year where there have been some amazing acts of kindness in our communities. The charities they’re supporting are spot on,

StCharlotte · 13/11/2020 08:12

Well credit for going low key in the circumstances but like everything else in 2020 It's just a huge disappointment. If you can't even rely on John Lewis to save Christmas...

Duckwit · 13/11/2020 08:12

It's meh but I'm OK with that as I hate the hype around the JL ad every year.

I am slightly disappointed that the Covid related Christmas ad predictions on MN from a few weeks ago didn't come to fruition though, I thought a few of those were spot on Grin

ivfbeenbusy · 13/11/2020 08:15

Well it's a complete let down for me too! I thought the suggestions we all had in the thread from last month were soooo much better 🤣

lollipoprainbow · 13/11/2020 08:15

McDonald's one does nothing for me at all !!

Bunnybigears · 13/11/2020 08:16

Nope don't like it. They need to get back to the glory days of the penguin one and the little boy who couldn't wait for Christmas day so he could give his parents the presents. It all seems a bit too try hard recently.

LadyCatStark · 13/11/2020 08:16

It’s a bit meh. The McDonalds one had me literally sobbing but that might be because it sums up how I’ve been feeling this year about DS growing up.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 13/11/2020 08:17

Well that was pretty shite for JL.

MrsWhites · 13/11/2020 08:17

Did anyone see the Macy’s advert a few years ago 😭😭😭

OhSoScared · 13/11/2020 08:21

It's ok but didn't make me smile once. After reading this I've watched the McDonalds one and that is lovely! Also made me cry which admittedly isn't that hard to do these days Grin

Ickabog · 13/11/2020 08:22

ShockShockShock

I don't even have children and I sobbed Grin

Oh that’s great! Good on John Lewis for that decision.

I really liked the variety of animation.

moronseverywhere1 · 13/11/2020 08:24

Nice sentiment but not as well executed as it usually is, not very memorable as Simon would say.

McDonalds gets my vote thus far.

Margaritawithlime · 13/11/2020 08:32

@MrsWhites 😭😭😭 sobbing on the train

Clawdy · 13/11/2020 08:32

Liked it. Glad there were no masks or visors featured, had enough of those in real life, thanks.

theyips · 13/11/2020 08:33

No soft toy??? Just mugs, t shirts and pin badges 😭

It looks like they used a load of school kids drawings 🤣
