I can't find a thread for this year's competition, and I'll never be able to get all the answers by myself. Please help! caboodle.nationalbooktokens.com/hiddenbooks/?competition=16

@EineReiseDurchDieZeit

I have all but :

Corgi
Jewellers
Telescope
Funicular

Willing to trade

Also that Sunflowers One is an absolutely shit clue

The corgi is what a group is called within the book itself. You need to think about the owner of the corgi and cutesy up her title.

Pink book- one word title.

SorrelBlackbeak · 12/11/2020 15:38

I cannot get funiculi. I've found the film and copied and pasted the name - it isn't that. I've found the obscure Japanese book the film is based on and copied and pasted that which also wasn't right!

PatriciaHolm · 12/11/2020 15:39

@CaptainMyCaptain

Funicular is a film too, and not a very well known book. I only knew it because I randomly read about it the other day, which isn't much help. The only one I can find on Google is in Japanese - is that it?
yes....
Nousernameforme · 12/11/2020 15:39

If you buy a hot beverage from the Cafe and wait too long to drink it, what will happen to it?
CountFosco · 12/11/2020 15:49

Just want to point out the bookshop doesn't work in a rhotic accent 🤦‍♀️

Nousernameforme · 12/11/2020 15:49

Is it a non binary thing?
Telescope is the last book in a bbc drama currently showing ( someone upthread told me)
Jewellers you will kick yourself.
Early 2000s massive three part movie franchise has a character that likes to use the word in the name a lot

TuesdaysWell · 12/11/2020 15:50

@SorrelBlackbeak, it’s the English translation.

No, me neither.

I said the same thing up the thread.

The whole thing is a bit odd this year, and some deeply obscure titles. And no classics this year!

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 12/11/2020 15:52

I could kiss you @TimeIhadaNameChange

DONE

InMySpareTime · 12/11/2020 15:52

@Nousernameforme the ? Person is the box you tick on a form when the normal ones don't apply.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 12/11/2020 15:55

I think the inclusion of Funicular is weird, basically not doable without help and some of the clues are woeful, particularly as I said the sunflower one.

Nor my Scottish one. It was another clue on here that got it for me.
MadisonAvenue · 12/11/2020 16:00

I’m stuck on the Tuesday sign and the three women.

CommunistLegoBloc · 12/11/2020 16:03

@MadisonAvenue

3 women - one of them is a younger woman, a female child perhaps? Think recent big prize winner.

You have to ignore Tuesday and think about a synonym for 'pals'. If you're talking or chatting to someone, you're having a....

KiposWonderbeasts · 12/11/2020 16:03

Tuesday is irrelevant, it’s the bit at the bottom of the sign that matters. By the author of Normal People.

The three women are sitting in the wrong order for the book title, move Mother to the middle. One is young, one is adult, one is unidentified.

TuesdaysWell · 12/11/2020 16:05

Tuesday is irrelevant. The event is about talks with pals. Think Of synonyms for ‘talks’ and ‘pals’.
