I can't find a thread for this year's competition, and I'll never be able to get all the answers by myself. Please help! caboodle.nationalbooktokens.com/hiddenbooks/?competition=16

Is the crayfish one a 4 letter title. Put what I thought it was in but wrong?

It's 4 words
landoflostcontent · 15/11/2020 08:58

Thank you all Smile Have finally got the last one, could not have done it without you. I have come to the conclusion I am better at working out the older titles, hadn't heard of some of them.

Alakazam8 · 15/11/2020 09:43

Sorry meant 4 words!! Will try again

Tarrag0n · 15/11/2020 14:18

@bumpyknuckles

Got Talking Tuesdays.

First word = synonym for 'talk'
Second word = with
Third word = synonym for 'pals'

I've never heard of the book and got it by some mad googling!

I have tried every permutation I can think of for chat/speak/gossip/natter and mates/friends/chums/companions, fed them all into Amazon search under 'Books' and have got nowhere, aaaggghhh!
InMySpareTime · 15/11/2020 15:11

Rhymes with:
Permutations with ends

You don't need the verb for the first word you need a noun. You already have the third word.

MissMarplesGlove · 15/11/2020 15:50

Think of the Italian word for a "chat" that a pretentious person (I'm thinking Mapp & Lucia would use this word). Then write it in English.

narrucO1 · 16/11/2020 09:49

When you say the mirror and the lamp, you have almost got it but its not so much the lamp as what it gives. I am stuck on the bennetts supplies - any clues ?

lostandfound55 · 16/11/2020 10:42

@narrucO1 half the shop is missing is a clue for Bennett’s supplies

InMySpareTime · 16/11/2020 10:49

You can see the remaining half, but you can't see...?

Tarrag0n · 16/11/2020 18:47

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! And to CaptainMyCaptain and MissMarplesGlove. Got there in the end, can't believe it took so long and so much help Halloween Grin

@JassyRadlett

Could I have a hint for the canal?

A friend has said the bookshop is obvious if you say it out loud. I have so far failed but it may help someone else...

Yep, that worked for me, thanks! It's not exactly a recent book, if that helps. Think VW.
Tarrag0n · 17/11/2020 11:20

Where does the canal go? Remember, canals have names!

Pogmaasal · 18/11/2020 10:32

I have to say Im not always great at these but this year it has been particularly hard! This has made me think I need to read more current books!!

Tarrag0n · 19/11/2020 16:10

Well I've been struggling all week with the two hams. I know people have said it's a 'say what you see' title, but I've tried everything I can think of and got nowhere. Is it ham? Is it bacon? Does it not matter what the actual meat is?

It's my last one, please someone give me a clue other than 'say what you see', cos I'm so Confused

Pogmaasal · 19/11/2020 16:25

Its ham followed by what its in, one word

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 19/11/2020 16:31

Yes, if I'd drawn it, it would just be one joint, with an arrow pointing to the strings.

Tarrag0n · 19/11/2020 17:17

THANK YOU!! @Pogmaasal and @PolkadotsAndMoonbeams. At last I've completed it! It was flippin' hard this year wasn't it?

pammypie20 · 19/11/2020 21:39

Still cant get the Bennetts supplies clue - it's the only one I am stuck with & it's driving me nuts!

bibliomania · 19/11/2020 22:04

Bennett is the author. Would you say about 50% is disappearing?

Angelil · 25/11/2020 19:52

I have them all EXCEPT the left-hand side of the butchers' shop. None of the previous clues have helped me. Anyone??

AlbertCampion · 25/11/2020 20:01

So thrilled to have found this thread! I have done them all except the Beef and Lamb Bazaar one. Can anyone help?

Not as good as previous years, I thought.

Gotthetshirt23 · 25/11/2020 23:28

Beef and lamb are types of?

Think of words similar to shop / bazaar

Two words needed

AlbertCampion · 25/11/2020 23:31

Thank you so much @Gotthetshirt23! Finally finished!
