Who is cooking a roast dinner today, and what will it consist of?

I'm doing:

Roast sirloin
Yorkshire puddings
Roast potatoes in beef dripping
Carrots with maple syrup
Cabbage with bacon garlic and cream

All very unhealthy but it is Sunday!

Not a roast here as dh is working late so I am making the Welsh stew, Cawl, with lamb.

Agwen · 08/11/2020 15:35

@DorisDay88

You certainly do! Put whole medium sized swede as it is in the microwave for approx 10 mins, turn it upside down and repeat Once it cools slightly cut in half, scoop out flesh and mash! It sometimes sings as it’s microwaving, an added bonus
Thank you so much, I will be trying the singing swede next Sunday! I love mashed swede/carrot but peeling and chopping the swede is such a faff. Top tip @DorisDay88, thank you!
waltzingparrot · 08/11/2020 15:39

DH wants a roast tonight, but I'm only roasting the chicken. He's getting dauphinoise potatoes and Jamie Oliver's Braised peas with spring onions and lettuce.

LemonDrizzles · 08/11/2020 15:50

We had
Leg of lamb
Yorkshire pud from scratch
Bird's eye country veg(such a time saver)
Mashed potato from scratch (though turned out too watery)
Gravy

For pudding trifle that my DC(4) and I made.

Now watching chitty chitty bang bang

MaryBoBary · 08/11/2020 15:50

We are having roast chicken, roast potatoes, spring greens, baby corn and carrots with Gravy. Then a treacle sponge and custard for pudding!

Last week was turkey thigh, next week will be either pork (doing a Big Shop on Thursday) or beef (currently in freezer). Breast of lamb doesn't have much leftover but the others provide a couple of curries.

Stuffing
Carrots
Peas
Yorkshire puddings
Cauliflower and broccoli cheese
Gravy

52andblue · 08/11/2020 16:08

Leftover roast chicken from last weekend (frozen and now defrosted)
which I will heat up in gravy. will add Yorkshire pud and paxo.
Roast potatoes, steamed broccoli, carrots. Boring but kids will eat it :)
I'd love some lamb or beef for a change. I'm usually broke so it tends to be a big chicken (which lasts) or a piece of gammon (ditto)
I'd also like someone else to cook it (single parent)
I am sad enough to fantasise about going to a Carvery!

wormshock · 08/11/2020 16:11

Roast turkey
Cranberry sauce and apple sauce for the children (they have it with all meats)
Stuffing
Roast potatoes
Yorkshire's
Broccoli
Runner beans
Carrots
Gravy

userxx · 08/11/2020 16:13

Only do a roast a few times a year so like to throw everything at it when I do!

JorisBonson · 08/11/2020 16:23

I've had a brisket joint in the slow cooker since 10am, with buckets of red wine. Will have mash and crispy kale with it, as well as the veg in the slow cooker.

Speaking of buckets of red wine... Wine
