Who is cooking a roast dinner today, and what will it consist of?

I'm doing:

Roast sirloin
Yorkshire puddings
Roast potatoes in beef dripping
Carrots with maple syrup
Cabbage with bacon garlic and cream

All very unhealthy but it is Sunday!

We had roast topside of beef last week and it was fantastic. I did some roasted beetroot with balsamic vinegar to go with it which was very tasty.

Kinda wishing we were having a roast today, tbh!

Crunchymum · 08/11/2020 13:35

I do a traditional roast a few times a year (Xmas and Easter) but do other variations such as lamb neck fillet, veg and minted new potatoes or honey roast pork, veg and mustard mash etc. These aren't limited to Sunday's either.

Today its takeaway as Sainsbury's mislaid all our fridge goods when they delivered and I won't be able to get out to the shops until tomorrow!

MolotovMocktail · 08/11/2020 13:36

I can’t resist a roast most Sundays during the colder weather, and today we’re celebrating a birthday in the family, so it’s:

Roasted rib of beef
Duck fat roasted potatoes, parsnips and multicoloured carrots
Steamed cavolo nero
Yorkshire puddings
Pigs in blankets (special request of birthday boy)
Gravy
Bearnaise
And birthday cake for pudding

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 08/11/2020 13:39

We love a roast and do them all year round barring June-August. Usually have our last one before Christmas around mid-Nov so that we can justify a proper Christmas feast! But I might have to extend it to the end of Nov after having read this thread!

Chlordiazepoxide · 08/11/2020 13:39

Pic here

Marmite27 · 08/11/2020 13:40

Slow cooked brisket & onion gravy, Yorkshire puddings, sprouts, cauliflower, carrots and mash here.

islockdownoveryet · 08/11/2020 13:44

Ummm some lovely dinners on here .
I really want a roast but I can't be bothered with all the cooking .
I bought a ready stuffed chicken from Asda and I'm going to make with garlic potatoes, broccoli and peas.

exLtEveDallas · 08/11/2020 13:44

We have a roast most Sundays, but always push the boat out a little for Remembrance Sunday. It’s only the 3 of us, but I’m plating a dinner for our elderly neighbour as I do most weeks.

Roast chicken with Garlic and Lemon
Sausage, sage, onion & apricot stuffing (I’ll eat more of this than the chicken!)
Roast potatoes
Honey roast parsnips
Carrots
Carrot and swede mash
Tenderstem broccoli
Red cabbage
Mange tout

Haven’t got a sweet planned, but I do have a couple of apple strudels in the freezer if needed.

userxx · 08/11/2020 13:50

@Chlordiazepoxide Hmmmmmm appetising 😳

noodledoodler · 08/11/2020 13:50

Roast chicken here too, stuffing, cauliflower cheese from scratch, carrots, brussels, broccoli, mini corn on the cob, goose fat roasties, mash, gravy. Pear crumble, custard and cream. I have also put a chicken and chorizo casserole in the oven for tomorrow, gonna hold back a bit of the cream for some calypso coffees. I have to confess to cheating with the crumble mix, asda and tesco do dairy free options pre made so DD who has a milk allergy can eat it too.

DixieLandReject · 08/11/2020 13:58

Ready for the oven !

@Whirlwind14

Me! We normally go to my parents’, mum and I sink a bottle of prosecco, dad and DH play with the children with the background aroma of roast beef and apple crumble....

So it’s down to me todayConfused at home.

Leg of lamb
Garlic mash
Pinch of Nom recipe for broccoli
Cauliflower cheese
Carrots
Yorkshire puddings

My three year old wants apple crumble but I forgot the apples...

What can go wrong?! Just like Nanny’s famous roast!! Hmm

Hope the dinner and Prosecco is going well 😃
EatTheHamTina · 08/11/2020 14:10

We had ours. We have it around lunchtime as find it too heavy for dinner time.
We had seasoned roast chicken.
Cauliflower and Cailiflower cheese for DP.
Broccoli
Carrots
Roast potatoes with rosemary and thyme
And homemade Yorkshire puddings.
Of course with chicken gravy!

Steamed syrup sponge pudding and homemade custard.

Gallon or so of wine.

LooneyLovefood · 08/11/2020 14:14

Going easy in this house today;

Shop bought chicken pies
Frozen carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and sprouts
Ready made mash
Bisto gravy

It will be just as delicious as if I did it all fresh I'm sure, and will be much easier to manage while simultaneously potty training DS.

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 08/11/2020 14:17

We love our Sunday roast here.
We’re having roast chicken, honey roast carrots, garlic roast sprouts, mashed potato, stuffing and gravy.
Aunt Bessie’s jam roll and clotted cream ice cream with salted caramel sauce for afters Smile

I can't quote all of these but they all sound so nice.

Just the two of us today so we're having wine whilst DH is preparing chicken (stuffed with spinach and pine nuts) for dinner later as he loves cooking and trying new recipes.

Hope everyone has a good day ☺️
