I've suffered from hives/urticaria for the past 23 years, and been unable to exercise/walk/get my HR up/wear a coat(!) for the past few years they've been so bad
Today I got approved for a medication which has a great success rate but is expensive to the NHS, hard to get and not commonly used
I am so so happy

Oh my goodness this made me tear up, I'm so happy for you

Do you know what causes it?

@Thisisnotnormal69 heat basically. So stress, HR increase, exercise, warm showers, being slightly warm, feeling self conscious because of the hives means it's also a vicious circle as that makes you hotter

What a nightmare, I really really hope this is some resolution for you!

I had some problems with recurrent hives some time ago and still do now sometimes, includes a numb and tingling face too which is horrible! Doctors concluded probably stress.

I suffer from urticaria too so massively happy for you getting approved! If it's Xolair it's a game changer, I'm now only occasionally having a flare as opposed to daily. Good for you and enjoy the relief the meds will bring

@2monkeysinmyhouse I'm praying it does, I have hives every day, multiple times and the itching is insane. Tried everything apart from Xolair

Update - my first dose is tomorrow!being admitted at 8am for it then 2hrs observation
So excited and also nervous

Can I ask why you have to be observed? Is it for side effects or a bad reaction?

@Nerve there's a fairly decent risk of anaphylaxis so first monitoring is 2hrs. It says can occur at any time even days after the injection and apparently it has a black box warning in America
