I've suffered from hives/urticaria for the past 23 years, and been unable to exercise/walk/get my HR up/wear a coat(!) for the past few years they've been so bad
Today I got approved for a medication which has a great success rate but is expensive to the NHS, hard to get and not commonly used
I am so so happy GrinGrinGrin

@QueenPaws I have my fingers crossed for you today, I'm sure it will be fine and hopefully you will see some improvements!

Wellthisismorethanabitgrim · 17/12/2020 08:09

This is amazing, happy for you!! I've had several bouts of severe idiopathic urticaria in my time and it was horrendous, by the end of the 3ish weeks it usually lasts for I could really feel my MH suffering, it's just horrible. Must be awful to live with constantly.

Fingers crossed it's successful for you!!

Hope you're nice and comfy! Is it something you have to have repeatedly? When will you know if it's working?

QueenPaws · 17/12/2020 11:26

Every 4 weeks I think for 16 weeks and see how it is then. Could work instantly or take a month

I even got breakfast! All done and home now

@QueenPaws amazing you got breakfast too! Now I am jealous, we don't get that where I go. Although the nurses are very friendly.

QueenPaws · 19/12/2020 09:37

2 days later... this is before injection and now Shock
It seems to be working. I had a small flare but nothing like usual

Congratulations! I have had urticaria (very mildly compared to how you have been affected) in the past and it was so debilitating and limiting for me. So happy you’re seeing such great results

Nerve · 19/12/2020 20:11

Oh, wow, what a difference! I'm so glad it went well and seems to be working!

Holothane · 19/12/2020 20:12

Wow I’m thrilled for you, well done injections in stomach are painful, so pleased for you with the results.

QueenPaws · 19/12/2020 22:08

@Holothane weirdly I didn't feel them! I inject myself in the stomach weekly anyway with a drug that's very stingy so was expecting it to hurt but felt nothing

Rae36 · 19/12/2020 22:13

Oh that's great op. My sister uses it and also had great results. It really is an amazing drug. Shame it's so expensive and hard to get.

Geekster1963 · 19/12/2020 22:37

Great news for you, I hope the medication works.

I’ve had a skin condition for years that affects my hands and is quite disabling when it flares up. I’d been dismissed for years or told it was eczema. They finally did a biopsy of one of the blisters in February and it showed that I’ve actually got a rare skin condition and I finally started on some medication for it last month. It’s shown a great improvement. It took a while I get as it could only be prescribed by a dermatologist.

Good luck with your medication.

DishedUp · 25/12/2020 11:33

Oh wow! Thats such good news OP

I suffer with hives too and they've been getting worse in recent years. No where near you yet but Im really pleased to see something seems to work for you

SameToo · 25/12/2020 11:49

I’m so very pleased for you @QueenPawPaws I can’t imagine how much this must mean to you.

QueenPawPaws · 25/12/2020 11:55

@SameToo I'm scrubbing down the kitchen and singing
The cat is doing HmmHmmHmm face at me and has retreated away from the mad woman

SameToo · 25/12/2020 19:10

Grin carry on!!!

QueenPawPaws · 12/01/2021 01:09

Update. Still having flares but they seem milder
Next two injections tomorrow, just have to stay 1hr after them. Then I can inject at home!
Home is 2 injections a month for 2 months then I get reviewed
Can't sleep as I'm excited Blush

esselllx · 12/01/2021 01:57

Omggg 😱 surely there must be something that can prevent it like a medication

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 12/01/2021 02:05

Wow, how life changing for you!! & a short course of injections really, I was expecting you to say they were ongoing!

I've only just seen your thread, I quite like it when I do that, it's like binge watching a box set!

Ps. You have lovely lips.

Pos blew us know how it goes tomorrow!

grassisjeweled · 12/01/2021 02:26

@Geekster1963

What's the name of your rare skin condition please? My daughter apparently has eczema (hands and ankles) but I'm not convinced...

Sweetpea1532 · 12/01/2021 02:37

@QueenPaws

I just found this thread....so happy to hear the injections are working and that you'll be able to do them at home soon...
I know your cat and not my cat will be pleased that you don't have to leave them anymore.
