Rural area, mum nowhere to be seen, very cold and shivering so have bought them in to warm up.

Now what?!

If you live rural the chances of someone putting them there are minimal! So, Mum Cat has to be around! Though she'll have been being careful so quite possible not to have seen her.

I have a tiny house in Greece and various feral cats have adopted me (and had their kittens near or, once, in my house). The mothers go off and leave them FOR A SHORT TIME very soon after having them (one left her kitten with me after about 12 hours and disappeared on the razzoo for 3 or 4 hours) but they do always come back to check on them and feed them, even when they are quite a bit older than the ones you have found. If mum is not dead, she will come back to see if they are OK and she may come back at night or when you are not looking out. Definitely leave some food out for her. She will probably be quite glad you are helping out but it would be a shame to cut them off from her (and vice versa).

I am in the south east!

I wont be looking to make any money from them at all, just want them to have loving homes when the time comes Smile

I don’t even really like cats but they are absolutely adorable. How lucky you found them this morning before bonfire night starts, they would have been terrified, poor little things!

I’d call them Guy, rocket and whistle in honour of the day.

What a lovely surprise to find in your shed! Please post more photos - they are absolutely beautiful.

susandelgado · 05/11/2020 12:17

this was our 6 week old kitten. As you can see, she looks very similar to yours. She was 1/2 oriental and her mother refused to feed the kittens so they were weaned early . Although she did quite well, she never grew very much and always looked like a kitten!

custardbear · 05/11/2020 12:18

are you Nanny Plum?
Magic shed please, kittens kittens, but not a lot Wink

Smallsteps88 · 05/11/2020 12:18

Mum is obviously very smart to put them in your shed rather than under a hedge or tractor. Hopefully she turns up soon looking for them.

jojogoesbust · 05/11/2020 12:18

Aww so jealous! I rescued a kitten at about 5 weeks and a lady who fostered cats and kittens advised lactose free milk will do. My kitten is 2 now :)

DisaL · 05/11/2020 12:20

Omg they are so cute!! If I buy a shed will I find kittens too? Me and my DS (11) desperately want a kitten but DH says no. He works abroad for 9 months a year though and is leaving again tomorrow for 6 weeks. I've tried to tell him that a kitten would be the prefect distraction for him leaving but he's having none of it. If one happened to appear in a shed then he'd just have to accept that but I think he'd be very annoyed to find we'd deliberately moved one in.

MothertotheLordsofmisrule · 05/11/2020 12:20

I'm in the South a East!

Why wasn't I blessed by the kitten fairy?

ImFree2doasiwant · 05/11/2020 12:24

@Missmonkeypenny are you sure they have just turned up today? Could they have been living in the shed? Mum.may be very upset to find her babies gone!

susandelgado · 05/11/2020 12:24

And now you've got one of my dog as well BlushBlushBlush

BettyDuKeiraBellisMyShero · 05/11/2020 12:27

They’re gorgeous! I love black cats. Lucky them, being found before the horrors of bonfire night. Fingers crossed feline mama turns up soon (you are human mama now Grin)

justilou1 · 05/11/2020 12:29

They’re divine! How come the only things I ever find in my shed are spiders?

heartshapedfaces · 05/11/2020 12:31

poor mother cat will be frantic when she gets back and realises they’re gone

JaffaCake70 · 05/11/2020 12:34

Nothing to add except Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww 😻😻

thecatneuterer · 05/11/2020 12:35

@Missmonkeypenny I'm with the rescue team of Celia Hammonds. I deal with situations exactly like this almost daily. The mother cat has almost certainly not abandoned them. It's daytime - it's the safest time for her to look for food.

Put them back.

They really need their mother and also the mother needs to be caught and helped. By all means put them back in the shed in a warm box with blankets or similar, but put them back. The most important thing is to provide food for the mother and to keep her around.

Do check at night to make sure she's there, but I can guarantee she will be. You will then need to keep feeding the mum and it would be a good idea to regularly handle the kittens when she's not around. Then see if you can find a local charity to help. They should be able to trap and neuter the mother and to help with the kittens.

Cordillera · 05/11/2020 12:36

They are gorgeous. And exactly how I got my childhood cat, my mum was adamant we couldn't have one but finding mum and kittens in the shed she could not say no. Cat lived 20 years with us. We didn't manage to capture the mamma cat til she had another litter though, and they all went off to the Cats Protection. Always felt guilty we didn't get to her in time to get her spayed before that happened.

Onadifferentuniverse · 05/11/2020 12:36

Can you put a bed and some food in the shed for mum when she returns?
She’ll likely make herself comfortable so you can catch her too!

sadie9 · 05/11/2020 12:36

I would leave them in the shed just put food in there. In case the mother comes back.
