Rural area, mum nowhere to be seen, very cold and shivering so have bought them in to warm up.

Now what?!

So I found something in my shed this morning...

OP I am in the south east too! I think looking after a baby and three kittens is going to be too much for you, you should just bring them to me Grin

thecatneuterer · 05/11/2020 12:39

And I've just seen you're in the South East, in which case Celia Hammonds may be able to help. So put them back and then please pm with your location and I will see if I can organise help.

Redwinestillfine · 05/11/2020 12:42

Oh My! They are adorable. I'm off to check my shed too!! 🤞

SeasonallySnowyPeasant · 05/11/2020 12:42

Did anyone else just go and check their own sheds? My NDN's cat sometimes poos under our workbench but that's not quite the same :(

userxx · 05/11/2020 12:47

So hope mum turns up, they are beautiful.

GlumyGloomer · 05/11/2020 12:48

are you Nanny Plum?
Magic shed please, kittens kittens, but not a lot wink

Lol, now I want a magic shed 🤣

mummumumumumumumumumum · 05/11/2020 12:48

they have to be called gunpowder treason and plot dont they? give the date and all??

NoMoreFlowers · 05/11/2020 12:49

Please put them back and put some food out for their mum. She won't have abandoned them. They need their mum.

Longdistance · 05/11/2020 12:50

Ooo! they’re handbag sized.

On a serious note, look out for mum, she could’ve gone hunting or looking for food.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 05/11/2020 12:50

Oh OP! As utterly adorable as it sounds - as a cat worshipper I really think you should put them back until you're absolutely certain their mum has gone. Think how distraught she's going to be when she comes back with food and finds her babies gone.

Keep a really close eye out for Mum.

It's honestly the kindest thing to do.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 05/11/2020 12:54

@Missmonkeypenny I'm with the rescue team of Celia Hammonds. I deal with situations exactly like this almost daily. The mother cat has almost certainly not abandoned them. It's daytime - it's the safest time for her to look for food

OP - I've just seen this from 'TCN' - thecatneuterer. TCN is a Litter Tray Leg. She has about 36 cats of her own (fluctuating number) and mainly thise that are semi-feral, lame, or otherwise unadoptable. TCM also works with Celia Hammonds who are well-experienced in caring for unwanted cats.

Someone @ her in earlier and this is because she has good, reasonable and experienced advice to give.

TCN says 'put them back'.

I think this is good advice. I suggest you follow it.

Put them back with food for Mum if she wants it and see what happens. If Mum does not come back then reconsider. but the best place for kitties are with Mum and she will be distressed if she comes back and her babies are gone.

Meanwhile, TCN has offered advice about eventually trapping them all and neutering them - the best option for humans, kitties and other critters everywhere.

QueenPaws · 05/11/2020 12:55

Definitely pop them back with some food and water for them and mum cat
Keep an eye from a distance and see if you can spot mum, you don't want her rejecting them because you've taken them or panicking

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/11/2020 12:56

I’d put them back for mum too, cats don’t usually abandon kittens that young.

Can you put some cat food out there, she won’t need to roam if she has food nearby and you stand a better chance of getting them all neutered.

loobyloo1234 · 05/11/2020 12:56

Honestly no disrespect to previous posters but seriously, yes they are adorable but they have clearly been fed and put there by their Mum. The OP will hopefully have put them back ready for when she comes back by now. That is the right thing to do

CatsOutOfTheBag · 05/11/2020 12:57

Oh there are 2!!! didn't see at first!!

rainbowstardrops · 05/11/2020 12:58

They are incredibly gorgeous but as they look well, I'd say that mum has been looking after them and has nipped out for a bit.
I think you should put them back but with food etc but keep a close eye on them.

EatTheHamTina · 05/11/2020 12:59

I'm in SE and would love them! Shame my landlord is a dick.

Catsrus · 05/11/2020 12:59

Envy I'm in the south east and all I bloody get are feral Toms who come in and piss everwhere, causing my cats to piss everywhere. We did trap them and they did get neutered and adopted but I WANT KITTENS.

In the process of moving house so maybe the kitten fairy will send a pregnant cat to my next shed.... can but hope.

Sillybillypoopoomummy · 05/11/2020 13:00

can you put them on a hot water bottle and put them back for a while?

kingsleyhimself · 05/11/2020 13:02

Kitteeeeees!!!

Whatever you decide to do please post more pictures! So cute!

Papergirl1968 · 05/11/2020 13:03

Could you put them back in the shed with food and something cosy for them to curl up in and keep a look out for momma cat? It shouldn’t be too cold in day time.
If momma hasn’t returned by this evening, what would you advise, @thecatneuterer?

WhatWouldYouDoWhatWouldJesusDo · 05/11/2020 13:03

This happened to me a few years ago.

Mum cat returned for 2 and left one......,I asked on Facebook for a nursing cat and luckily the abandoned kitten went there. Mum cat returned a day or so later but too late by then and tbh a stray is going to stand a better chance with two kittens to care for instead of 3. I did keep leaving food outside for mum tho. She didn't bring the other 2 kittens back but did return to eat

Sparklfairy · 05/11/2020 13:03

@Sillybillypoopoomummy

can you put them on a hot water bottle and put them back for a while?
Was just going to suggest the same. Wrap a hot water bottle in a towel or two and put them on it in the shed to keep them warm until she comes back.
thecatneuterer · 05/11/2020 13:05

@Papergirl1968 If mum hasn't returned by evening (and hasn't eaten the food the OP is hopefully going to leave out) then yes, I would bring them in. But I would bet my house that the mum cat will be back.

Gingernaut · 05/11/2020 13:05

If you've spoken to cat rescues, did they tell you about any trap, neuter and return programs?

Mum is going to look for her babies, but after a while, her maternal hormones switch off and she'll start a cycle again.

If you could find mum and trap her, see if she's friendly and see about neutering that would be phenomenal.
