What happens if Biden is unwell?

I feel very sorry for Biden and no idea why the Democrats couldn't find someone more suitable. He called Trump 'George', mistook his granddaughter for his sadly deceased son and seemed very forgetful when Obama introduced him.

I'm not sure his health is up to being president, some people suggest possible alzheimers. What happens if he has to stand down in a few weeks for health reasons? Another election?

Poor man Sad

That’s what the VP is for.

KenAdams · 04/11/2020 23:35

Kamala Harris will be sworn in

Winterterrace · 04/11/2020 23:37

We get the first woman President.

PurplePIG1 · 04/11/2020 23:39

Oooh! So no need for a further election? Shame she wasn't going for president now

AlexaShutUp · 04/11/2020 23:39

Yep, first ever female president.Smile

AlexisIsMySpiritAnimal · 04/11/2020 23:39

Be could just be extremely exhausted from campaigning.... I'm hoping Sad
I agree though, it's not great is it?

AlexisIsMySpiritAnimal · 04/11/2020 23:39

*he

Blimeyoreilly2020 · 04/11/2020 23:39

I think we’ll see Kamala take centre stage pretty soon tbh!!

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 04/11/2020 23:40

78 year old person muddles up some names after an incredibly busy 72 hours.
The VP is there to take over if needed - it might be the best way to get a woman in the job.

PurplePIG1 · 04/11/2020 23:41

@AlexisIsMySpiritAnimal I feel so sorry for him Sad he seems confused so often. I dont understand why he was chosen, better if she had been.

Biden is the same age as my mother. She sometimes calls me the dog’s name but she did that when I was a child too (different dogs), she has a much firmer grasp on reality than Trump and she’s seen all the series of West Wing so probably understands more about how the US political system than him too.

TableFlowerss · 04/11/2020 23:43

I wondered that too OP. He’s a grand age and if you notice, once they become some kind of head of state, they seem to age by years.

I wonder why they didn’t chose her in the first place? To be honest, I think anyone could have ran for the presidency and would have got the vote from the people that detest Trump.

Winterterrace · 04/11/2020 23:46

’I wonder why they didn’t chose her in the first place?’

Because if they had Trump would have won.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 04/11/2020 23:54

Harris did run but lost out to Biden. There's the footage of her asking Biden about racism. The Trump campaign used it.
I agree with Winterterrace that Trump would have won against any woman.

Comefromaway · 04/11/2020 23:58

I sometimes call my kids the dog’s name!

ktp100 · 05/11/2020 00:00

Kamala Harris is capable AND let's not forget how much absolute SHITE Trump talks, rather someone a tad forgetful than a raging egotist who constantly lies!

Trump isn't exactly the picture of health either. Remember the videos of him walking down a slope and not being able to bring a drink to his mouth without using both hands?!

If they're going to end up with a VP in office, rather Harris than Pence any day.

Winterterrace · 05/11/2020 00:00

I bet you’d be a better president than Trump too!

SionnachRua · 05/11/2020 00:00

Biden has a stutter, which he manages quite well. So well in fact that people forget about it... I think it's a fairly reasonable explanation for some of his verbal slips. And tbh I think some people are more prone to muddling up words than others. Doesn't mean they aren't in control mentally, they just slip up.

Anyway, if he does have to step back we get Kamala Harris, who is a much better option than the orange goon or his "can't be alone with another woman" sidekick.

TableFlowerss · 05/11/2020 00:01

Ahh I see, fair enough. Makes sense now. He’s like decoy 😳😂
myhobbyisouting · 05/11/2020 00:01

"dont understand why he was chosen, better if she had been."

Then Trump would win. Again.

Don't feel too sorry for Biden

Winterterrace · 05/11/2020 00:11

Put it this way, whatever your political views are, Trump has brought the role of president into disrepute in just about every way possible, short of taking a dump on the presidential seal on the carpet on the Oval Office. He still won over 68 million votes.

Stompythedinosaur · 05/11/2020 00:16

I think Kamala Harris would do extremely well as president.

Mammyloveswine · 05/11/2020 00:17

Biden didn't think his granddaughter was his deceased son..if you watch the footage he is obviously introducing her as his sons daughter..and giving his sons history.. grammatically it doesn't work but it's obvious what he's saying!

SionnachRua · 05/11/2020 00:21

This is a good article about Biden and stutters (written by a stutterer). www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theatlantic.com/amp/article/602401/

It also gives possible explanations for why Biden occasionally uses the wrong name - it's using an alternate word in a replacement trick to try and get past the 'block' (word he'll stutter on). No confirmation that's what it is but apparently many stutterers do it. He may have been doing it for so long now that it's an immediate response.

This. It was taken out of context to suit the rightwing media portrayal of him as a doddery old man but he was clearly giving the back story of his late son Beau prior to saying “and this is his daughter, my granddaughter” rather than looking at her and saying “this is my dead son”.
