Hi all. I thought I'd start a thread for those who are finding it tough going at the moment. The idea is to write about anything positive you have done .... a walk, bought yourself some flowers, went to the park with your kids etc.

Please also feel free to say if you've had a tough day as well if you need to let off steam.

Not much but going to take the dog out now before the rain arrives.

hotchocolatey · 02/11/2020 11:44

To get the thread going .....

I really didn't feel like going out today. I put my new jeans on, a bit of makeup and went for a walk. I felt a lot better.

Yoga at home, got my son to school, done a decent tranche of work, drunk a green tea

InsaneProbably · 02/11/2020 11:47

Nice idea for a thread.

I went to the gym in the morning, since I still can. Had a nice workout. Used the good moisturiser at home after a shower.

Popped out to a shop for some bits we really needed, and while it was really busy, it wasn't panicky, and everyone and everything seemed quite orderly.

And I've built a cardboard fort for the cat. The building process was greatly impeded by the client insisting they take an active role, so it's a bit less of great fort, and more just a glorified tunnel, but oh well.

Harmarsuperstar · 02/11/2020 11:48

Not much really, just got up and made porridge with sultanas, half a banana ground flaxseed, walnuts and a spoonful of tahini.
Then later I'm going to force myself to go out for some non-essential items (a bra and new mascara)
I've also googled walks in my local area to give myself something wholesome to do in the next few weeks (weather dependent)

giantangryrooster · 02/11/2020 11:49

Lovely idea op.

DD is home for the first time in three months, it is lovely.

I've just finished my wreath and even put it up.

Bad bad day yesterday. Very very low. Didn’t speak at all don’t think that my facial expression changed all day. Very bad.
Woke today with a plan. A, B, C.
Completed all on my plan and more.
Feels good.

unmarkedbythat · 02/11/2020 12:00

Not much of positivity today other than being really happy to hear when my DH's auntie called from Poland that she is standing with the women of her country in resisting their government's latest shameful attack on abortion rights (she's quite conservative and probably voted Duda last election to if she is against the government on this it shows the scale of opposition!). Yesterday I went for a run without dying and made a lemon cake without burning anything so I called that a win.

glitterelf · 02/11/2020 12:02

Nothing but cuddles with the little one as we are waiting on test results for the eldest. Normally my house is a madhouse as I'm a childminder so to be able to lounge about in pjs and snuggles is what's needed right now.

GoldenPlatitudes · 02/11/2020 12:03

Been on a downer all weekend so trying to be positive today.

On a day's holiday today, so had a coffee and bagel, did some exercise and sorting out the new shed for the rabbits!

Looking after my pets makes me happy, takes my mind off stuff

Horsemad · 02/11/2020 12:26

I've eaten a BIG bag of Revels, that cheered me up! 😁

Let's see the fort, @InsaneProbably.

RosieLemonade · 02/11/2020 12:29

Took DD to school. Picked her up again.
Changed the bedding and put a wash on.
Trying to think of something productive to with DD and DN. all they want to do it watch TV but I feel like I should make an effort to do something with them as that’s probably what we will be doing a lot of the time in the coming weeks.

ImnotCarolineHirons · 02/11/2020 12:29

What a lovely idea for a thread.

I've been for a swim and had a nice hot shower afterwards as there was no one else in the changing area so didn't feel I had to dash in and out like a naked ninja this time. Treating myself to a takeaway coffee from my fav cafe on my way home before starting work.

I had a bit of a wobble this weekend too so I love this idea of small positives!

Greenteandchives · 02/11/2020 12:33

I’ve been to the dentist for a check up, visited some local independent shops who will have to shut at what would have been a very busy time, bought charity Christmas cards and some of that Nesti Dante soap often recommended on here, and a St Eval candle for the Christmas box.
I had a very low day yesterday but a bit better today.

InsaneProbably · 02/11/2020 12:37

@Horsemad It just looks like five cardboard boxes next to / on top of each other, but with holes connecting them, taped together. I was going to recycle them today, but the cat got interested, and I guess I was bored...

Sorry everyone having a bad time. I've had a very bad year with my mental health, but right now things aren't as bad as they have been. Still looking forward to phone therapy tomorrow.

Scoobygang7 · 02/11/2020 12:38

Put my eldest on the bus for school, then took dog and youngest for a short walk. Filled the dishwasher and put it on. Made lunc for me, dp, and youngest. About to take dog and youngest for another walk in about half an hour. Then going to put thee gammon in the oven for tea.

Got lots of things that need doing but after the lockdown news. I have lost motivation. Even though it really doesn't affect us as we see no one anyway.

roara · 02/11/2020 12:38

...to make you feel proud?

serialreturner · 02/11/2020 12:44

Big wobble this weekend too. No idea why.

Had an ok week, not working just now but very, very down, worried about the world and DH and I aren't getting on. Seeing a friend on Friday though - that will help. I'm either feeling great or on the edge of bursting into tears - ugly crying with lots of snot.

Positives:
Morrisons coming tomorrow.
I've done my Christmas M&S shop.
DD had a good Hallowe'en.
I have the fire on.
Mary Berry chicken for dinner with rice and veg from the allotment.
(we don't grow rice in the allotment!)
DH's birthday presents have come.
Wash basket nearly empty.
There is money in the bank. There are two well stocked freezers.

We have lovely outdoor space.
We have a lot to be thankful for.

DH very down about Christmas - we haven't seen family since the week before lockdown... MIL just about got home. We're a short flight or 5 hours drive away from family. We are in Scotland, family in NI and Dsis and Dbil in a hotbed of cases in England.

It does feel better to have made the decision - feels like there's some vestige of certainty The only person I'm kidding is myself

Applied for two jobs though.... one of which would be meh but one I'd love and would be good at. I'm trying to change careers so that's given me a bit of a boost.

serialreturner · 02/11/2020 12:46

Oh - bought flowers on Friday. They're making my kitchen smell amazing.

Also a new table cloth :)

TheYearOfSmallThings · 02/11/2020 12:49

I've eaten a BIG bag of Revels, that cheered me up!

I knew this thread would inspire me!

kleew1 · 02/11/2020 12:51

I've did an online job simulation for a job!

Ate too much chocolate and start work at 3.

However my little one had the best sleep (after our big walk yesterday to see the fairies) thus waking up in the best mood.

serialreturner · 02/11/2020 12:55

More!

Found my engagement ring which I keep leaving at my arse.

troppibambini · 02/11/2020 12:58

I have cleaned downstairs, helpedthe kids with a geography project, set dd up with paints to do her science project.
I've had a chat with the fish men.
I also showered of the fake tan I did last night (I had a bit of pamper as felt yuck) and I've blow dried my hair.
This afternoon I'm making biscuits with the kids and tidying upstairs and getting stuff ready for school tomorrow.
After I pick eldest up from her boxing class tonight I'm going to the supermarket.

Smile3 · 02/11/2020 13:00

I dropped the children off at school and came home and just completed my xmas wrappingHalo

teaandcustardcreamsx · 02/11/2020 13:01

My (now ex) boyfriend broke up with me. And I thought we were making progress

I also went for a nice short walk before I felt tired and went home. Two hours later—still tired Grin
