Hi all

I couldn’t find the new thread so here is one I set up. It’s windy out there! Glad I weeded my flowerbeds a couple of days ago.

Yes, I saw that journalist Allison Pearson had been kicked off twitter for mentioning herd immunity as well...

Sallycinnamum · 01/11/2020 17:00

I have been on the verge of tears all day. Have absolutely no motivation to do anything despite having a week off work so plenty of rest.

I can't bring myself to look at the coronavirus board and all the sanctimonious bullshit avoid schools closing etc.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 01/11/2020 17:01

@JamSarnie

Is everyone bracing themselves for the threads about reporting their neighbours for breaking the rules?
Yep. Especially after the travelling for exercise thread. I know the OP asked if she could stay over but the amount of people laying into her because she's not allowed to travel was ridiculous
Orangeblossom7777 · 01/11/2020 17:02

I'm feeling similar. To be honest they spout a lot of nonsense on there at times and it's best to check anything new on other places anyway

Orangeblossom7777 · 01/11/2020 17:03

"the travelling for exercise thread."

Have not seen but sounds like they would confuse advise of last lockdown and assume this is the same. I'd take no notice.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 01/11/2020 17:04

I may have got my threads confused there as there are several bunfights going on with people insisting you can't travel for exercise

justasking111 · 01/11/2020 17:05

@PinkSparklyPussyCat

There's a whole thread of people saying you can't travel for exercise despite the guidelines saying you can.
We were in that quandary, driving or walking, old dog 15 has to be driven his arthritis is bad, we are in good company with other dog walkers, the welsh government did not clarify we asked, so we thought sod it and are driving to dog areas as are others.
PickAChew · 01/11/2020 17:06

Cripes it's dreadful out there. I think I've filled my dementor bingo card twice over.

Orangeblossom7777 · 01/11/2020 17:06

Oh FFS as if that is an important issue- 'travelling to exercise'. They said unlimited exercise nothing much else

So daft isn't it. They need to get a grip

justasking111 · 01/11/2020 17:07

@Orangeblossom7777

Oh sod it, Times is saying secondaries may have to close
Secondaries closing, thank god the times is unreadable for most of us, they are a scare mongering rag anyway.
PinkSparklyPussyCat · 01/11/2020 17:08

The actual guidelines state you can travel for exercise so DH and I are planning a few trips to National Trust gardens if they are allowed to stay open. I live near the river but I can only walk along the towpath so many times!

Orangeblossom7777 · 01/11/2020 17:09

they do tend to speculate don't they (Times) fingers crossed worst that happens is rotas. They haven't even got to that yet. I have a DC doing GCSEs and online learning is not working really. He has a processing issue as well and extra time etc all such a worry

justasking111 · 01/11/2020 17:09

Re: breaking regulations on going out, driving, having someone in your house and neighbour snitching. There are not enough police in the world to enforce lockdown breaches. Our police in North Wales are open about this and say it is just not doable.

Orangeblossom7777 · 01/11/2020 17:09

Do they just want people to be miserable? for no reason.

JamSarnie · 01/11/2020 17:10

On the gov website they also list zoos to close. FFS AngryAngryAngry

justasking111 · 01/11/2020 17:10

Secondaries, years 7 and 8 are going back tomorrow babysitting doncha know. I think the other years may be on a rolling rota now to be honest, not ideal.

PickAChew · 01/11/2020 17:12

Just adding "loopholes" to my bingo cards. Not that they'll take any longer to fill.

justasking111 · 01/11/2020 17:17

Worldometer today says UK 162 dead.

Wales deaths public health Wales says 16, google says 13,

Scotland 24 or 6,

England google 278 dead,

We cannot even get a straight answer on the internet.

JamSarnie · 01/11/2020 17:20

If I ever win the lottery and don't need to work anymore but want to keep mentally active I would be tempted to do a psychology degree. Always been fascinated about what makes some people tick and the 'follow my imaginary rules' and 'report people for having someone in their house' would be fascinating if they weren't so dangerous

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 01/11/2020 17:26

The level of vitriol and hostility, not just from members of the public online but from journalists and academics, has horrified me.

I often watch what the papers say on sky news and BBC and I noticed that - refusal to engage and smearing based on association with Great Barrington Declaration - it's so childish.

I think there are issues with shield the vulnerable - main one it’s like essential items only shopping sounds easy till actually looked at in any depth but I think it clear lockdowns aren’t a long term strategy and buy time with a huge cost often to least affected by covid section of population.

My love affair with Morrison’s food boxes has ended - food boxes in general have been a nice innovation for us - just had my bonfire night one and a quarter of the stuff is missing or wrong and they hope to get back to me within 7 days.

DH has already order their Christmas meal one as a backup – as we are out at supermarkets less frequently so picking bit up gradually is harder.

Oh sod it, Times is saying secondaries may have to close

DC secondary was pretty dire in big lockdown and they’ve definitely improved since September – older two have another week at home with on-line learning and while it’s not as good as being at school it’s something.

Though waiting to hear what they say about GCSE in Wales – I think it’s looking likely they won’t be big exams but either national tests at variable times and/or teacher assessments but do wish they’d tell us all.

MercyBooth · 01/11/2020 17:28

WTF is wrong with people Cant they think critically. Its possible to be anti lockdown and be for mask wear for social distancing and for vaccine.

Orangeblossom7777 · 01/11/2020 17:31

I thought Wales had canceled exams same as Scotland

lolacola77 · 01/11/2020 17:35

Sorry but what's AD?

MercyBooth · 01/11/2020 17:36
