Hi all

I couldn’t find the new thread so here is one I set up. It’s windy out there! Glad I weeded my flowerbeds a couple of days ago.

Well I've done 1/4 of an assignment in an attempt to distract from the impending doom. It's probably shite but I've like properly read journal articles and stuff (and not just skimmed the abstract like I did for my last degree).

MercyBooth · 31/10/2020 16:03

@LadyOfTheImprovisedBath I knew Sainsburys would have something.

TabbyStar · 31/10/2020 16:22

Seems to have been leaked to Robert Peston. Lockdown until 2 Dec, schools and unis to remain open but non-essential shops and services to close. Fuckers. Could be wrong I guess, we'll find out soon....

TabbyStar · 31/10/2020 16:23

From Thursday.

MercyBooth · 31/10/2020 16:27

BASTARDS

LivinLaVidaLoki · 31/10/2020 16:27

I just can't make any sense of it. The figures for the areas in tier 3 are starting to come down. Why are we doing this?????

And I'm sorry but it's bloody diabolical that we only hear anything about this because it was leaked to the fucking press.

I hope he gets fucking rinsed by the press for this but I know he won't

TabbyStar · 31/10/2020 16:30

Look at the hospital admissions towards the bottom of this, doesn't justify it in many areas www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-54712917

TabbyStar · 31/10/2020 16:32

Though it's normal for the press to get briefed before something so they're prepared, they're normally embargoed, it could be argued that Peston is at fault for breaking an embargo 🤷🏻‍♀️.

TabbyStar · 31/10/2020 16:32

That doesn't explain the earlier leak though.

Whoooootaminute · 31/10/2020 16:50

I have given up caring now tbh and taken to the wine bottle.

Had a great night out last night - obviously only me and DH as we're in Tier 3 so extremely limited for fun. Maybe this will all be taken away too come 5pm ?

DrDiva · 31/10/2020 17:05

@justasking111 that’s a real cutie! And so lovely to see his pleasure, we all need that right now.

I have already had a cider. Gin might be next after our Head Twat has pontificated.

wanderings · 31/10/2020 17:06

Saint Boris is late for his conference.

JamSarnie · 31/10/2020 17:08

Honestly I am so fucking angry right now.

Only slightly soothed by DH going to get me a couple of bottle of wine to put in the fridge.

Whoooootaminute · 31/10/2020 17:09

I've got the TV on all ready to watch what our sainted leader has to say. But yeah - late..

TabbyStar · 31/10/2020 17:11

Not quite sure why this is how I'm spending my precious weekend.

I've put my gym stuff on to punch it out with BodyCombat afterwards....

justasking111 · 31/10/2020 17:14

Boris should have done this over half term, Drakeford who I dislike did which means two weeks instead of four because hopefully we caught it earlier.

flower11 · 31/10/2020 17:14

This is going to kill the high street. Feel really sorry for the local independents. Our lovely gift shop has just got all her Christmas stock in and another local place was just advertising for staff for their Christmas shop. They have now been completely screwed over.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 31/10/2020 17:16

@TabbyStar that was me after waking up to the news this morning.

Reedwarbler · 31/10/2020 17:16

We're having a meal in the pub tonight. Better make the most of it I presume? Deliberately avoiding the news channels in case I see Boris and it puts me off my meal.
Does anyone else feel like standing in the street and screaming?
Apparently there are now around 37 suicides a day in London according to the ambulance service.

TabbyStar · 31/10/2020 17:17

Briefing probably won't take place until after 6pm 🙄🙄🙄.

I worry too about lots of places never opening again. I haven't seen anything about financial support.

wanderings · 31/10/2020 17:18

Someone on another thread seems to have got hold of a list of stuff leaked to Robert Peston. Of course, it's all possible, no one knows what the truth is, probably not even Saint Boris himself: officially published on Tuesday, voted on by MPs on Wednesday (which means it could change a million times over before Thursday). And is the bastard going to swear, on his grave, on pain of having his head chopped off by no less than Her Majesty, that it will end when he says it will?

Here is the list, which may or may not be true:

Courtesy of Peston:

These are the measures to be announced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson at his 5pm press conference, as I understand it. They will last until December 2.
And they are, in effect, a new "Tier 4" that will be imposed for a month initially to the whole of England - in a bid to curb a rise in coronavirus cases.
All pubs and restaurants are to close, though takeaways and deliveries will be permitted.
All non-essential retail will close, though supermarkets won't have to follow the Welsh example of fencing off non-essential goods.
There will be no mixing of people inside homes, except for childcare and other forms of support.
Manufacturing and construction will be encouraged to keep going
Outbound international travel will be banned, except for work.
Travel within the UK will be discouraged, except for work.
Overnight stays away from home will be allowed only for work purposes,
Courts, schools, and universities will remain open.
Outdoor exercise and recreation will be encouraged.
Private prayer will continue in places of worship, but not services.
It all starts at one second past midnight on Thursday. The regulations will be published in Tuesday, and MPs will vote on them on Wednesday.
One source told me to consider the regulations as a Tier 4 for the whole of England.
After December 2, the exit strategy is that different parts of the country will then have their local economies and behaviour governed by the existing tiers, namely Tiers 1 to 3, depending on how serious the virus is in these respective places.

Our high street is like it was in March, traffic free except for marks and sparks. I wonder if the goats will wander back again. No sightings of them yet.
LivinLaVidaLoki · 31/10/2020 17:22

@wanderings "outdoor exercise will be encouraged"
So my gyms closing down again.

I know its clutching at straws to think they could stay open but its the saver of my sanity. And I'm sorry but when you de stress using HIIT and some serious weight/resistance training then a walk in the autumn leaves doesnt cut it.

That looks plausible, bit of a bugger if you are planning to go abroad, otherwise no different to Wales. Interesting the tier thing will continue
Pleasenomoreglitter · 31/10/2020 17:28

I can't face watching it. I'll read it afterwards. We're in the middle of an extension and just had the kitchen ripped out. I'm so stressed this is how my house might still be at Christmas. Hoping Peston's leak about construction means the builders can carry on Haloween Sad
