There was the maths teacher who was known to be a bit of a creep, who was caught snagging a pupil in the school hall...never heard from him again.
And the headmistress was caught with her hands in the till, quick retirement and shipped out.
I went to a decent school I promise!

At a school where I taught. Elderly cleaner tried to break up a fight near a main road, between two rival families. One child pushed the cleaner into the road, where a lorry ran over her head.
Tragic. There was a plaque to the lady in the school, until it closed and was redeveloped as flats

wewillmeetagain · 28/10/2020 15:42

Looking back on it now my secondary school was actually quite shocking! A supply teacher coming in to teach my class science was absolutely trollied, spent the lesson drinking out of hip flask and swearing. A handyman that had been employed to paint the school got a girl pregnant when we were about 14 or so! At least 2 teachers sleeping with pupils, one of which went on to marry the pupil. And two very senior staff having an affair!

Marcipex · 28/10/2020 15:45

Teachers/sixth form girls relationships were common.
One 14 year old had weekly sex with a married science teacher. This was reported and laughed off.

@Cupoftchaiagain I went to a nearby school and a teacher I had had taught him when she’d been there

DrNortherner · 28/10/2020 15:52

We had an English teacher with huge boobs. A lad (very naughty) was being told off and called her big tits, she lost it and I think slapped him. His parents sold the story to The Sun.

Pascha · 28/10/2020 15:52

2 rival schools meeting in the dover-calais ferry and having a mass brawl.

OnCandyStripeLegs · 28/10/2020 15:53

Economics teacher was a serial groomer of sixth formers, now stuck off but was still doing tutoring last I checked.

PE teacher married to ex-pupil.

History teacher almost drowned in a car crash and went totally bald overnight. It probably wasn't overnight, with hindsight Grin

Geography teacher sacked for shagging a fifth year boy. This was clearly not out of the usual given the economics and PE teachers - except this teacher was female and clearly only the male teachers were allowed to abuse their position.

Kid from my class didn’t think she’d done that well in Maths, so burned down the Maths block one weekend so the coursework would be gone and we’d all get our estimated grades.

It worked... they kept asking us all if we knew who’d done it which we ALL did, but no one would tell them! Blush

Noidea2114 · 28/10/2020 15:57

I went to a Catholic school we had 4 nuns as teachers.
Sister Margaret Mary and Sister Ann Marie left together.
Left the church.

madcatladyforever · 28/10/2020 16:00

Me. My parents decided to move back to the UK from abroad a year before my O levels, my mum had a baby 15 years younger than me at exactly the same time.
So we got to the UK and they decided to make me repeat the year as I had missed a whole year of O levels, everyone and I mean everyone thought I'd actually had a year off to have a baby as I often looked after my young sister and I was seen in parks and out and about with her.
The school priest (catholic school) actually asked me if she was my baby but no matter how many times I protested nobody believed me.
Mainly because nobody believed that decent parents would move a year before my O levels so I missed all that coursework - they clearly didn't know my parents very well.

Akrotiri1 · 28/10/2020 16:00

Our history teacher had an affair with the headmistresses husband. When her husband found out he hung himself......very sad.

YouveGotMeWhosGotYou · 28/10/2020 16:01

@NoItWontJustDo I think we may have gone to the same school. I sat next to him and it was my friend who found him.

Elizaaa · 28/10/2020 16:02

The father attached to my primary school was off as he 'broke his legs, and then after that left to go on a pilgrimage'. It was later revealed in the local paper that he'd been messing about with choir boys.

The deputy, and later, head, was a bit touchy feely.

At my secondary, there were many. Peter Andre's car was attacked and ripped apart when he visited to do a concert in the hall.

No inappropriate issues between teachers and pupils.

One teacher that was universally loved was beaten up outside the school, after I left, and many, many people, past and present, turned up outside the school for retribution and there was a bit of a mini riot.

There were a few mini riots actually when there were going to be fights between my school and other schools.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 28/10/2020 16:03

Well there was the kid who got expelled for drug dealing at school, also got a girl in his year pregnant.
The dodgy English teacher who had a couple of obvious favourites in my school year. Nothing official was done except banning all pupils from the English staff room which was annoying as me and a mate used to help out with admin - which got us out of some incredibly dull PSE lessons.
A teacher was fired for hitting a boy. In the teachers defence they were on a climbing and abseiling field trip and the boy in question was arsing about and about to do something that could have seriously injured or even killed him.
A CDT teacher lost a finger on one of the bits of machinery in his classroom.
An A level student was expelled for beating his girlfriend up in a chemistry lesson. I was in that lesson and I remember feeling too shocked to move and not really believing what I was seeing.

The big scandal at my primary school was that a pupil burned it down the year before my older brother started attending. Many crazy tales told about that.

NewYearNewTwatName · 28/10/2020 16:03

Nice all girls school. an English teacher who lived on site had an affair with a 6 former. He left quickly.

Pervy IT teacher used to creep everyone out, would stand behind girls chairs gently stroking and rearranging their cardigans.

Couple of Art teachers caught kissing in the cupboard.

lots of fights (its was like prisoner cell block H )

A heavily Pregnant teacher was hit hard in the the stomach by a pupil.

A few years after I'd left, I heard one of our science teachers had committed suicide. (she was so lovely too Sad )

yawnsvillex · 28/10/2020 16:04

All girls boarding school. Matron was undiagnosed schizophrenic and voices told her to drive us into a wall Blush

She never returned and we were all safe.

sd249 · 28/10/2020 16:05
@sd249 that’s the school my daughter went to (not at the time).

Same school, one of the girls burnt a whole block down.
Ah yes - that was quite a lot after I left. But yeah - in fact I think it was most of the main school that burned down not just a block!

Amazing school though (I know it doesn't sound like it!)

ShinyGreenElephant · 28/10/2020 16:05

A kid in my class called the chair of governors a baldy cunt, that was quite a drama for a while. I was his teacher and fought very hard for him not to be expelled for it which in their eyes made me basically an accomplice

Ponypizzy · 28/10/2020 16:05

I took Higher Italian (Scottish 6th form) there were only 3 of us in the class, me, my friend and another boy. After we left we found out the teacher (married) and the boy had been having an affair. She left school that year. I bumped into the boy in the pub a few years later he was proper chuffed with himself said how they were so careful. Me and my friend had no idea whatsoever.

The fact that the staff were caught and left is a sign it was a good school! The teacher 'having an affair' as it was called then, or grooming and abusing a VI Former, stayed and she left Angry The teacher who had a public and humiliating breakdown was entrapped never returned Angry
Mumtumwobble · 28/10/2020 16:12

Quite a few. Head teacher caught drink driving during a nervous breakdown, technology technician/TA going out with 6th former (21 years younger), 2 teachers having an affair both left their husband/wife they got together and had a baby and caretaker when to prison for having indecent child images on his computer.

ProfessionalWeirdo · 28/10/2020 16:14

A teacher committed suicide after her husband died. Tragic.

TicTacTwo · 28/10/2020 16:14

A teacher at my kids school was caught with indecent images of children (not of pupils he taught) He went to prison and running a burger van a couple of hours away

Mookie81 · 28/10/2020 16:16

Our Humanities teacher died in a murder/suicide pact with her husband.

AlexCabot · 28/10/2020 16:17

A teacher was accused of sexual assault by a pupil and consequently committed suicide by flying his plane in to the sea.

I liked him very much. He was a bit eccentric but I never imagined he would do such a thing. I suppose you never know somebody.

The usual pregnancies and drug use.
