What was the scandal at your school?

There was the maths teacher who was known to be a bit of a creep, who was caught snagging a pupil in the school hall...never heard from him again.
And the headmistress was caught with her hands in the till, quick retirement and shipped out.
I went to a decent school I promise!

I also forgot, one of the school governors, who was the town dentist was sent to prison for running a scam and defrauding people. He was the most unassuming guy, bit of a geography teacher type and a pillar of the community

Shizzlestix · 29/10/2020 23:05

Science teacher-married-shagging a very young engaged Maths teacher. They made it super obvious by closing the blinds in her room and locking the door. Her room was visible from the Staffroom.

Different school-Maths teacher stank of booze and had a hip flask in his drawer. Permanently pissed or hungover.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 29/10/2020 23:28

After a session of underage drinking, some boys in my year got up to some pranks, including chopping down a tree in the school grounds. Apparently, it had been planted to commemorate former pupils who had died in WW2. The boys were expelled.

Really shocking all this. At my school two teachers were known to be ‘together’. Locked doors and blinds down etc. They eventually married. A couple of girls got pregnant that I knew of. Other than that, no scandals.
However as an adult, the Governor or a local school who we knew quite well was found to be a paedophile. He was also a solicitor. I have also come across several very influential pillars of the community connected with schools who displayed creepy over sexualised behaviour. I’m convinced some of them were up to no good.

Runningdownthathill · 30/10/2020 07:54

The DT teacher at my daughters school had a thing going on with one of the female pupils. I also knew a couple where the wife had been her husbands pupil and they married when she was 19. He was much older.

Deathraystare · 30/10/2020 07:58

A particularly foul bitch of a teacher (she really did not like me. I was very quiet but she picked on me and because of her I had to go to speech therapy. There was nothing wrong with my speech) had an affair with the married head master.

oldsoulrebel · 30/10/2020 12:04

A boy few years above did a moony out of coach window on a school trip . He was made to confess his crime and apologise to the whole school assembly .

Was it not maths teachers? I’m hoping there’s not been two cases.[/quote]
Yes you're right, it was maths teachers, it was a long time ago and I'd got the subject wrong. I believe she was my ex husband's geography teacher, hence the confusion.

Some really horrible stuff happened at mine so I'll tell a (Sort of) nice one. two boys where caught being amorous in a storeroom together- one very much had a hard man reputation. It was strangely accepted for the time in rural yorkshire. They're still together years and years later.

Kljnmw3459 · 30/10/2020 13:13

We had the usual creepy teacher holding hands with and visiting the prettiest girls of his class. Ended up marrying one of his students who was younger than his kids. We had unqualified teachers with some behaviour problems that they took out on the kids. One boy beat up an elderly man and was sent off to a "residential school " far away.....

Kljnmw3459 · 30/10/2020 13:15

It's amazing the amount of creeps as teachers. It would be interesting to find out the creepy ones at our local schools.

Is it weird that I sort of want to try living in a supply cupboard.

Riddlediddle · 30/10/2020 13:52

I was very much a plain jane at school but going out underage drinking at 15 i really liked to make an effort and glam up for a night out. We saw our young and fit geography teacher out in the club one night (both drunk) and we ended up kissing. He felt terrible after and offered to talk to the head and admit it all. I was actually quite mature for my age and said not to and i swore my friends to secrecy. To this day I genuinely dont think he was a sleaze just a newly qualified young guy getting caught off guard while he was drunk. He taught me for both gcse's and a-level geography so was around him for a good 3 years after it had happened and he was genuinely a nice guy never did anything like that again. I think it was a massive wake up call to him and how his career could be over in seconds.

Our Deputy Head ate the celery that was being used as a still life subject for the O level Art exam. It sounds trivial but it made the national newspapers!

Not when I was at school- but I taught here for a while. Dreadful place

Thankfully have left now- but if you google it you can see the head of finance and principal have been up to some pretty severe “financial irregularities”

Wowcherarestalkingme · 30/10/2020 17:50

When I was at the school the head of PEs husband was murdered. That was awful.
Equally awful was five suicides within 12 months of each other all from the same year group.
Loads of drugs, pervy teachers and teen pregnancies as well. Pretty rough school.

dottycat123 · 30/10/2020 18:13

Female Teacher convicted of sexual abuse, she was taking the year 11 boys back to her house, smoking weed and offering a variety of sexual acts. Following being sacked she ran a specialist massage parlour from her home , the website detailed what was on offer.

SapatSea · 30/10/2020 18:27

My primary school in Ireland back in the early 70's was mental. The P7 (year 6) teacher was an alcoholic and sadist. He had a table tennis bat with a chalk cross on it and vowed to thrash everyone at least once during the year with it. He would make kids bend over and run at them and try to get the x on their bum crack. He stank and was always trying to put his arms round us girls. He also regularly sent kids to A&E for stitches as he threw the wooden chalkboard eraser at our heads . One day at break time his (also alcoholic) wife arrived and they had a punch up in the playground, he pulled her wig off and she knocked his false teeth out. Everyone was cheering, polis came. He took "retirement."

BeginTheBeguine · 31/10/2020 03:11

One open secret and a few suspected teacher/teacher relationships. One teacher left her boyfriend (or fiancé, I can't quite remember) to live with a female pupil after her A-levels, which was a bit surprising. The gossip was that after about year she went back to him, I don't know if that's true, but she's definitely married to a man now.

Our new headmistress left her husband and teenaged children 150+ miles away to take up the role. Found to be living with the (we'd all assumed happily married!) female vicar of a nearby parish.

Less scandalous (but probably more outing) there was a very persistent rumour that one of the art teachers had cooked a pigeon in the kiln (she was quite scary). And one of the geography teachers had apparently dated Jude Law.

Mumisnotmyonlyname · 31/10/2020 09:18

Shocking how poor the management was/is in some schools!

Animum2 · 31/10/2020 11:57

13year old in my class got pregnant, this was 1989/90 so a lot of people were a bit shocked, however she had the baby and cane back to school

A year before Stephen Lawrence was killed, a boy in my year was murdered in a racist attack (same area) . There was an assembly the next day to talk about it and counselling was offered to his friends

TicTac80 · 31/10/2020 14:09

Yikes, three former W.O.K girls on this thread!!

OneStepOneStumble · 31/10/2020 23:28

My brothers English teacher beat his wife with a stone rolling pin when she found out he was having an affair and threatened to leave. That was in the news for a while...

I had two English teachers who were married and taught in rooms next to each other. Unfortunately the wife was having an affair with the principle. He left the school but she stayed and we all knew. I don't know why the husband stayed with her!

Lots of girls bragging that they lost their virginity at age 13 under the local viaduct to boys who were 18+ 🤢

louderthan1 · 31/10/2020 23:36

Many, many teachers had sexual relationships with many, many pupils. Mid-90s. Common knowledge among kids and no-one thought anything of it really.
