What was the scandal at your school?

There was the maths teacher who was known to be a bit of a creep, who was caught snagging a pupil in the school hall...never heard from him again.
And the headmistress was caught with her hands in the till, quick retirement and shipped out.
I went to a decent school I promise!

@CthulhuInDisguise I think I know the school! I went to the other place.

We had the slimy Geography Teacher who's daughter was in the year above me rumoured to have impregnated a girl with a very similar sounding name. He eventually ran off with one of the RE teachers.

PE / IT / pottery teacher that again was rumoured to be at it with girls from VIth form by giving them "driving lessons" - he was arrested for kerb crawling with his name printed in the paper but kept his job. Loads of other weird teachers I'm sure this will be recognisable to some. Also, young economics teacher regularly to be found on Wednesday student nights out, hungover to hell the next day when he'd been out with us.

@GintyMarlow2

At a school where I taught. Elderly cleaner tried to break up a fight near a main road, between two rival families. One child pushed the cleaner into the road, where a lorry ran over her head. Tragic. There was a plaque to the lady in the school, until it closed and was redeveloped as flats
That's absolutely awful :(
Onesailwait · 29/10/2020 00:06

Not at my school but my Eldest kids old school. The treasurer of the PAC (pta) stole $40k that had been raised for a new playground. A local company stepped up after seeing the story all over the news and donated the replacement money.

Biology and Chemistry teacher were married until he gave a public a practical lesson to a pupil.
Male PE teachers were ALWAYS in the girls open changing room, reported but nothing changed.
very high performing pupil who failed exam blamed the teacher by accusing him of making racist and perverted comments to her.He was suspended and she left the school , then wrote to say she made it up.Poor guy was ruined.

dublingirl66 · 29/10/2020 00:27

A very intelligent GCSE student being kicked out for getting pregnant
Basta---

Never should have happened

She went on to do spectacularly well

Like top 5 per cent of population earnings

Oh and she sued the fckers

Still makes me so angry

chatnicknameyousuggested · 29/10/2020 00:30

Our German teacher was spotted in Boots. She was buying treatment for thrush.

It became the scandal of the year.

saleorbouy · 29/10/2020 00:34

The two female P.E teachers were lesbians, one of whom was previously married and had kids in the school ( a long time ago 1990's) Now married.
One of the girls from the lower sets getting it on with a lad in the lecture theatre during lunch break and getting caught.
The geography teacher being a naturist, very titillating for us as teenagers.
Me and my mates ( aged 13) getting drunk on a school trip to Europe when we discovered the teachers duty free stash from the ferry trip over on the coach. Ooops, very nearly expelled for that one!

Russell19 · 29/10/2020 07:39

Boy climbed onto roof with his friends trespassing out of school hours and fell through a skylight. He ended up in a coma with terrible injuries and his parents tried to sue the school for millions Confused but they lost the case.

As far as I'm aware he's fine now.

BalloonSlayer · 29/10/2020 07:58

Smiling at what someone not from the UK might be imagining when they read "doing cocaine on the Duke of Edinburgh " Grin

FippertyGibbett · 29/10/2020 08:08

When I think back to primary school, our male PE teacher would come into the changing rooms to ‘tick our names off the list’ when we were getting dried and dressed after swimming.

BikeRunSki · 29/10/2020 08:13

Several teachers shagging teenage girl situations. Usually PE teachers! At least one couple went on to get married, and have been for 30 years (dB know them through a seperate set of circumstances).

When I was first year secondary/Y7 now, an A level History trip was booted out of Russia, as they were 1 - selling Levi’s jeans out of their hotel room; 2- handing out Conservative propaganda* in Red Square. This was early 80s, height of the Cold War, long before the Berlin Wall cane down. The chap with the leaflets went on to be leader of the Young Conservatives, a Tory councillor and a very right wing journalist. The school banned foreign trips for 5 years, which was essentially my whole time there.

*this is what we were told at school assembly, I never saw the offending document.

BikeRunSki · 29/10/2020 08:16

Boy in shiney 1980s nylon tracksuit top leaned too close to a Bunsen burner and went on fire. Teacher put him out. We were well impressed. Teacher said “you don’t teach chemistry for 20!years and not know how to put out a flaming teenager”.

FairfaxAikman · 29/10/2020 09:14

Bit outing as it made the news, but maths teacher suspended after pupil hit HIM.

Apparently he got pissed off that the kid was still in his class the next day and phoned the head's office. When told they couldn't suspend the boy immediately he ripped the phone off the wall in a rage.

Primary school - entire building was burnt to the ground . Rural and small school, no nearby primaries with capacity for more so I remember being taught in a mothballed school 15 miles away . It sounds luscious as it was awful and devastating in terms of loss (of school work - all gone - and resources and money) but it was a good memory and a bit of adventure (from the perspective of eight year old me)

Secondary school - constant bullying that teachers were too frightened to intervene in . Zero consideration on school’s part of anything else eg religions, sexuality, racism, additional needs, young carers, homelessness - they didn’t give a shit . Sex Ed was non existent . I left school clueless and got an almighty shock starting uni .

Had to get a school bus which was hell - 200 teenagers on two rickety double deckers . They worked out if you all ran to one side you could tip the bus as it was driving . Drivers used to speed for fun . Another driver let classmate sit on his lap . Pupil jumped off backwards whilst bus moving . 2litre bottle of coke thrown from emergency exit (and hit a teacher’s windscreen - as she was driving along the A class road) . Friend’s mother got on bus once and punched driver in the face (for what I can’t remember). I remember one bus was specifically kept for smokers too .

toaskforthissooner · 29/10/2020 09:40

*ludicrous, not luscious!

peaceanddove · 29/10/2020 10:18

Middle aged, geography teacher having a relationship with a 15 year old girl. They moved in together when she turned 16. Two 13 year old girls got pregnant and had terminations (there boyfriends were in the year above). Our music teacher was really sweet, but was married to an alcoholic and was the victim of domestic abuse. She regularly came to school with a black eye, or split lip. An English teacher had pathological rages and once threw a 12 year old boy down a short flight of stairs, then grabbed the boy's desk and threw it down the stairs, after him. The teacher was asked to leave and spent time in a psychiatric unit.

Ironically, I attended an expensive, private boho-cool school which had a long waiting list for places Shock

hiredandsqueak · 29/10/2020 10:21

One of the fifth form boys was caught having sex with the home economics teacher during lunch break. One of his friends reported it. Home economics teacher stayed and the pupil was expelled Shock There were other relationships between teachers and pupils that were badly kept secrets.

Hoax bomb scares were quite common in London schools in the 80s and 90s. Kids used to go to the phone box down the road, put on an Irish accent and say it was an IRA warning. Our school was closed twice because of this and we found it hilarious Hmm. I think a kid was caught out and was just given a ticking off and no more said about it. God, can you imagine it happening now?

happygolucy · 29/10/2020 11:42

Teacher in my secondary school went out for drinks with other staff on a school night, came home drunk and fell downstairs and died. Was an alcoholic for years and kept a stash in her locker according to other students. Whole school was in shock but she was nasty, a raving homophobe and ordered disabled student to join in more in sports!

Plenty of pregnancies, suicides and paedo teachers too. Many of whom still teach there.

lazylockdowner · 29/10/2020 11:43

Noitjustwontdo wondering if you went to same school as me

Cbatothinkofausername · 29/10/2020 13:07

We had a history teacher that was sacked for inappropriate conduct with young boys.

Then years later he was found hacked into pieces in the big bins round the corner from our house.

He had befriended a rent boy who had been abused as a child. The killer tried to set fire to the house to attempt to cover up the crime but it didn’t work.

I wonder if we went to the same school. Although of course, there are 100s of schools in London!
Fungster · 29/10/2020 13:11

A music teacher started an affair with a girl in Year 12. She transferred to another school and they've now been married for about 20 years.

TicTac80 · 29/10/2020 13:15

@Mcmole

Maths teacher at our school held up an off licence as needed the money to pay off gambling debts!!
OMFG I think you went to the same school as me (girls school, in Kent)!! This wouldn't have happened in/around 1998, would it? One of my mates really fancied the maths teacher...
