(Socially distanced of course and in strictest obedience of all localised lockdowns and 3 or 5 tiers and whatever illogic the powers that be can dream up next)

I think the Daily Mail is actually a Government year.

If the Daily Mail and it’s readership can rail against the Government and achieve absolutely nothing, and can do absolutely nothing, then the Government know they have achieved supreme and ultimate power.

@DominaShantotto

Have you realised who the op is though? Wah wah wah teachers dying wah wah wah should give you an idea

Have they been called out as a sockpuppet?!

She's posting as her normal name! Just odd that it's ok for her to fuck off and die but if anyone even suggests their school was a bit crap in lockdown it gets deleted by MN for teacher bashing!
LivinLaVidaLoki · 29/10/2020 09:15

@DominaShantotto
I'm sure that whole thread constitutes "troll hunting" which I thought wasn't allowed 🤔

DominaShantotto · 29/10/2020 09:16

MN teachers = untouchable.

I shall fax my certificates to MNHQ and claim my invincibility cloak and shield immediately.

Yeah I thought that when I skimmed it. I read the first few posts when it first appeared and my "fuckwit alert" was triggered so I moved away rapidly.

I'm off to the hairdressers - it's pissing down with rain so my blow dry is destined to be buggered.

Ahhh ok.

I suppose "fuck off and die" is ok for her then.[/quote]
It's like staying in arguments. People are at liberty to stay in if they are genuinely terrified about being out in a virus-ridden miasma (although unless they are specifically ECV it's not healthy to spend prolonged periods in isolation without other people to weigh up your fear against)

I know I drivel on about them, but I hate masks (on so many levels) and I minimise the places I go where they are required. Some would happily ban me from leaving the house. Banning and volintarily reducing are two totally different situations.
Flip's sake there was one poster trying to claim that you might be safe taking your mask off in an isolated place like a moor of there's no one else within 100m Confused
I'm past trying to engage with that kind of mentality. Many people are worn and mellowing now, and to be entrenched with that level of paranoia is a hiding to nothing. I did report the ablist comments expecting mask exempt people to stay in.

Stay in, go out. Leave it as a choice, but don't demand restrictive rules that suit you and howl about it if someone suggests an equally punative rule of the opposite disposition.

The Russian Mafia still haven't paid me for the months and months of my life that I've spent reading and posting on here (because it was that or crack on with housework Wink )
Must chase up Dimitri... Grin

Government test!!! Not government year!

LivinLaVidaLoki · 29/10/2020 09:29

Also can I add...

I wish Dr Hillary Jones would just fuck right off too.

WouldBeGood · 29/10/2020 09:30

@LivinLaVidaLoki to be fair I’ve hope for that for many years 😂

Me too. Chief dementor. I think he's hoping it carries on because he's enjoying their airtime.
littlbrowndog · 29/10/2020 09:42

So many scientists so many experts on telly

I think most people ignore them now

So many tiers

SufferingFromLongLockdown · 29/10/2020 09:42

Wasn't it him that suggested we shouldn't even be washing our cars back in march and April? Idiot.

WouldBeGood · 29/10/2020 09:47

@SufferingFromLongLockdown yes! I’d forgotten that. What a dick

dingit · 29/10/2020 09:53

Omg Dr Hilary! He just got muted on my tv. Just the sound of his voice makes my ears bleed Grin

TheOrchidKiller · 29/10/2020 09:57

Can an expert (or anyone really) explain why as of tomorrow I will be allowed to eat a "substantial " meal in a restaurant (possible sitting inside time 90 minutes) but eating cake & having a cuppa inside a cafe (possible sitting inside time 20 minutes) is banned?

Because if anyone can give a 100% rational, evidence-based response I might actually feel marginally better.

Orangeblossom7777 · 29/10/2020 10:06

Because it really fits in with their campaign to get us fit and healthy to be eating large meals out doesn't it - what has happened to those (annoying) get fit ads anyway? They seem to have been subtly replaced with a patronising hands, face, space one..

Oh no, this is the study thing I was tested for - now it is being used by dementing BBC - Ok lots of people have it with no symptoms, not a good thing? (no, of course not, that side is never noted)

Money innit. Although the cost of some naice cafes these days... I would say that in pubs it's to reduce the amount of uninhibited drinking (and protect food supply chains), but that wouldn't apply to unlicensed cafes anyway. I can't see a logical reason to not have a civilised afternoon tea indoors.

Years ago DH and friends were doing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge and stopped off at a pub along the way and asked if they could have a bowl of chips to be met with a disdainful "we only serve proper food". They then asked if they could have a bag of crisps that was then sold to them Grin

That study is not peer reviewed and is being spouted as gospel truth. James Gallager is an utter twat though and has form for this sort of shit. The BBC should be ashamed of their reporting.

expectingnumber3 · 29/10/2020 10:20

Dr Hillary is also a twat. Never knew I felt so strongly about him until today.

NastyBlouse · 29/10/2020 10:39

I noticed we got a few mentions on the 'bad actors' thread. (So where's my Razzie?)

Posters clearly hadn't read any of this thread lately. Recently several of you have been sharing wise, beautifully worded experiences and meditations on dignity, death and dying. Some very profound words that I read with interest and gratitude.

But never mind that, never mind actual people's actual experiences and complex emotional responses; we're all just cackling fringe lunatics and evil incarnate apparently.

What really depressed me about it was the comments about 'I don't understand what they're on about so they must be dodgy'. Imagine going through life with that mindset -- I shall dismiss as sinister anything that I don't understand.

TheOrchidKiller · 29/10/2020 10:43

I'm picturing the sensible queuing system in the M&S cafe :
"I'm sorry, you'll have to put that scone back, unless you have the lasagne with it."

How come DS can play in a football match this weekend, & get within close proximity to 21 other lads, but I can't sit 2m apart from my friend in a back garden?

It shouldn't be about the money, it should be about scientific evidence. Although The Science is not absolute anyway.

Hands Face Space is making me feel like a 5 year old.

They've got big flags on the lamposts here with that stuff on it. "Keep Left" one flag implored, on a dual carriageway where barely any pedestrians go. It was confusing because I was trying to turn right.

I'm angry today.

I bet Dr. Hilary is a barrel of laughs at a party. Reminds me of the doctors in the first lockdown who said it was dangerous to clap on a Thursday because people might fall over on the way to their front doors.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 29/10/2020 10:46

@NastyBlouse
Looks like that thread has been deleted.

Strange isn't it, how none of the AD threads(or ADs) get threads or posts deleted...

CruCru · 29/10/2020 10:58

Meh. I had a quick look at the “bad actors” thread but can’t get too excited about it. The OP thinks differently to me (which is fine). I don’t have to explain myself to the world. As long as people don’t come on here to shriek at us all, I’m happy to ignore them.

If people do come on here to make a nuisance of themselves, are you all okay with just ignoring them? If we all retaliate then it encourages others to start ... and that will spoil these nice, chatty threads we’ve got going.

Blobby10 · 29/10/2020 10:59

Presumably from the comments about Dr Hillary I wasn't the only one open mouthed at his double standards on statistics this morning? How is a 15% increase in mortality from breast cancer for women taking HRT OK and a very small number when he's banging on about locking down the world for a virus thats killed less than 1% of the population?! **I may have the numbers wrong as I was shouting at the TV 🙄

Iheartmysmart · 29/10/2020 11:03

Ugh I’ve had to turn the radio and TV off this morning otherwise I’d go back to bed and stay there indefinitely. The doom merchants seem to be out in full force today.
Didn’t ever do a huge amount but enjoyed going to the cinema, chatting with colleagues in the office and the occasional holiday but that’s all gone now. And if I sit on another Teams meeting which ends “stay safe” I will scream!
My Bellends t-shirt has arrived and will be worn later when I meet a few other non-dementor friends for dinner.
