(Socially distanced of course and in strictest obedience of all localised lockdowns and 3 or 5 tiers and whatever illogic the powers that be can dream up next)

Someone I know had lunch in Quaglinos and drinks at the Ritz this week, England might as well be on another planet to us Sad

@TheOrchidKiller

"And now, going into Tier 3, dancing the fandango, it's Nottingham and its partner, Anton Du Beke!"
Grin Anton Is my favourite. He just seems so nice and patient.

Well, our borough has put up posters on all the lampposts to tell us to muzzle up. I had an anxiety attack. I haven't had one of those since I was 17.

DH says not to give in to the bullies but he has a much better eff off face than I do. I am a perfect target as I have a prey animal walk. I scurry head down to the places I feel safe which are shrinking at a rapid rate. DH is worried but there isn't anything to be done.

I did manage to clean the living room today and now the DC are bouncing around it. They love it when it's clean but they don't like cleaning it.

I have no idea how I am going to entertain them this half term within our local area. Any ideas?

I’m sure I can’t afford that

But in reality, I can’t go anywhere because of potentially getting caught in the 2 week quarantine

I appreciate from Wales it looks amazing though.

Taswama · 25/10/2020 19:12

I had a walk with a friend on Friday and messaged her afterwards to say please don't give me name to T&T should you test positive, just tell me. No answer, but she can go quiet for weeks at a time so hopefully she understands.

DominaShantotto · 25/10/2020 19:13

Half term week 1 done here - GP put me on increased medication and I think, considering I've crossed swords with this one before when she refused to prescribe DD2's neocate, she actually got what I was saying about needing to keep on functioning for the kids. Asked me if my uni course was adding to the anxiety and I was like "nope, to be honest, it's the only thing keeping me sane at the moment - probably the only time in history learning obscure bits of anatomy has KEPT someone sane"

Well aware I'm hiding in my uni work though - least it's a productive place to hide I guess! I've spotted a masters I really fancy once I've finished this course - so really focusing on the end goal.

@AcornAutumn I’m sure he just did what was on the form which was probably as clear and mud and asked for contact details of anyone you may have been in contact with - with no clarification of length of time or proximity. ! It’s just another example of the shitshow that is test and trace ☹️

Bloody hypocrite we have been bagging up our elderly for decades. We are awash with nursing homes in N Wales never have to wait that long on the list to get a room in one of them.
justasking111 · 25/10/2020 19:31

I love the poster who said they did the government do you drink too much questionnaire, she is teetotal and was told she drank more than 14.6% of the population WTF??

LivinLaVidaLoki · 25/10/2020 19:33

@justasking111 I just commented "what about children removed in emergencies into foster care with nothing. Are they supposed to just sit in the same clothes and undies for days waiting for an amazon delivery?
What about patients in hospital who need new pyjamas?
Until you can open your mind, shut your mouth"

justasking111 · 25/10/2020 19:37

Women fleeing with kids from a violent home need clothing. Emergency patients who are rushed in. One lady took her daughter in covered in blood had to do a 40 mile round trip back home to get clothes when the supermarket was right by.

TheOrchidKiller · 25/10/2020 19:41

I have an older relative living alone in a remote spot in Wales. Has only just got the internet & is struggling to get it to work. Even when it does work they are new to the world of online shopping.

Their washing machine & toaster have broken today. Not allowed to get one from the Tesco in the nearest town (& knowing them they would think nothing of hoiking a washer home & installing it themselves). They're pretty resourceful and used to power cuts & being snowed in, but this is ridiculous.

justasking111 · 25/10/2020 19:43

The BMA voted to stop visiting homes back at their conference last November. tell him to stick that in his pipe and smoke it.

@LivinLaVidaLoki what kind of sick mind comes up with a meme like that.

ISaySteadyOn · 25/10/2020 20:10

If any of you are tired of Minecraft, there's a really sweet game called Stardew Valley. It's pretty in a retro sort of way and it's about running your own little farm. Thought that might be useful if you are beginning half term this week.

Justgivemewine · 25/10/2020 20:15

Found you all, just checking in for some sanity.

@ISaySteadyOn. Ds1(14)(ASD) loves stardew valley. It seems to have a nice calm pace that keeps him relaxed.

ISaySteadyOn · 25/10/2020 20:19

It's very gentle. I got it for the DC and they loved it and today they insisted I have a go. It's really calming as you say. I'm ASD too.

RobinHobb · 25/10/2020 20:28

@DominaShantotto
I completely get what you mean re course keeping you sane. I feel exactly the same right now! Doing a masters and loving it and have got my eye on some phds as well :-)

RobinHobb · 25/10/2020 20:28

@DominaShantotto posted too soon. Glad GP has helped and good luck with half term next week.

I go through periods of playing Stardew - both on iPad and on PC where you can install mods like ones that make Marnie actually ever be in her bloody shop.

I played a lot of Animal Crossing during lockdown proper too.

ISaySteadyOn · 25/10/2020 20:54

I went for the Forest Farm. Which kind did you choose?

ISaySteadyOn · 25/10/2020 20:58

@IAintentDead

For care home residents - I may be off the wall here but - I'd rather see them bagged up than kept in isolation for the next 6 months
My lovely grandmother died right before this madness. I know which she would have preferred. She was a Katherine Hepburn like woman and I know that she'd rather have seen one last Broadway show than Broadway shuttered.

ISay “ My lovely grandmother died right before this madness. I know which she would have preferred. She was a Katherine Hepburn like woman and I know that she'd rather have seen one last Broadway show than Broadway shuttered.”

She sounds like a woman I’d like to have a cocktail with. The day Broadway closed was a shocking day. Luckily I got to the West End - birthday treat - two days before they packed up.
